And as you know, in the past shows for the New Year, I am not a big fan of New Year's resolutions. I think New Year's resolutions don't have the power to stick. So if we want to create a change and to see things progressing in the way that we want it, we need to create focus goals. It's simple. It's back to 101 focus goals. So stay tuned and we get right into our today's show. Thanks again for being here.

Again, that's www.yourlifenow.info. Welcome back everyone. You are listening to Your Life Now show with Coach Rhea. Thank you so much for being here and Happy New Year again. It's a new year. So have you set your intention for 2023? Let's forget about New Year's resolutions. Have you set your goals for yourself, for your business? Is there any new skills you need to learn to advance this year? What are your professional and personal milestones that you'd like to achieve this year? Would you like to achieve more of what you have done so far? Balancing your life and your business? Or landing a new career opportunity? Whatever your choice is, whatever your choices are, let's start with a key word, which is focus.
Back to Focus Goal 101. So New Year is something exciting because we look forward to something new and exciting. However, in order for things to change, we have to change something, right? We have to make moves and we are moving forward in the new year, right? So when you think about New Year's resolutions and why most of New Year's resolutions do not stick, because they don't really have a weight to them. We get excited, so we tend to just make these big goals and big resolutions, New Year's resolutions, but yet we haven't really thought about those resolutions themselves.
What do they mean to us? What do they mean to us when we achieve those New Year's resolutions? But if we just only get excited about making New Year's resolutions, and then a week or two, or whatever time it takes, those resolutions do not come to, or they don't hold strong in your life or your business, then you get disappointed. And then you wait for another new year to make new, new resolutions. So here's a few tips that I'd like to share with you.
I have been working in this industry in coaching, leadership, and personal development for over 15 years. And I can tell you from my personal and professional experience, when you hold yourself accountable on what is necessary to you, and then why are you, everything is cause and effect, right? So if you want the effect to be to your liking, then you put something in place that is strong enough so you can get what you want. So my thinking here, and I read this somewhere, and I thought it was a really great idea.
So why don't we just forget about New Year's resolutions and write a letter to ourselves? Each year instead. Because we know in the beginning of the year, it's a natural time for reflection. Many of us, we look back and we say, you know what? I'm going to do better this year. I'm going to make new changes. This year is going to be the best time to do a lot of things. But are you committed to leading your best life? Are you committed to making goals and resolutions that are really important to you? Because you know, a lot of studies show that most New Year's resolutions fail.
This is not something I'm telling you that you don't know. So I encourage you to really hit the core of your goal and values and write yourself a letter instead of writing resolutions. This is for you, not for anyone else. This is for your personal, whether you write it in a journal. I journal all the time. I write every day. I can tell you a lot of times, ideas come to you, opportunities just show up. And if you put everything together, you know you can move forward because you have the tools that you need to move forward.
Most people never even take an opportunity to write anything to themselves. They always, you know, write it to someone else. You start leading in your life first. If you are a leader out there, and you know, I'm an executive coach, an executive lead, you know, a leadership coach. And I can tell you, it starts with you every time. You the person. So are you ready to lead your life and set goals that really mean what you want to achieve in your life? So how do you do that? So first, I always say take an inventory.
Take an inventory of everything that is going on in your life and in your business. So that's why you should write things down, right? So take an inventory, and when you write in that letter, you should really talk about the year you want to have ahead. So you should ask yourself questions. Everything, awareness starts with simple questions. So ask questions, questions, questions, questions. You have the answer to every question, but you must ask the question first.
What are, start with what you fear first, right? So what are the fears you plan to tackle? What's holding you back? What adventures will you embrace in the year? How would you connect or reconnect with past relationships, new relationships? How will you plan to grow? What can you do to be of service? This is my intention always been from the reason I get into what I do. I would say love what you do and do what you love.
I've received awards because I do what I love. I receive recognition, and I really am so proud of myself. And I'm proud of what I can be ahead because I'm always focused. So focus is important, also evaluation is important, and then always ask questions. What do I want? What do I want? What do I want? These are great questions that seem to evoke the deepest reactions, right, in us. They are what bring up key issues, right? So when you ask a question, you are obviously waiting for an answer.
So you start writing your questions, and you put that letter away, or you write a letter to yourself, and you refer to it, hopefully, over the course of the year. Reading it over and over and over. It will become a key motivator. Trust me, give it a shot. Remind yourself. Actually, the letter will remind you if you put the right things, if you write this true to yourself, you will find that the letter will remind you what your key values and goals are.
It keeps you on track. It keeps you on track with what is the most important aspect for you, in your life, in your business. I suggest keeping that letter, or I put it in my journal, nearby. Keep it close to, in your desk, wherever you work, close to your nightstand. Don't be afraid to revise it. Nothing is set in stone. This is a living letter, right? So you write in a letter to yourself, a document, and just say, this is what I'd like to see my year look like.
This is what I can do. This is what I need to do. And it makes you, it keeps you motivated. The key point that I'm trying to make here is to make sure you review your letter every day, pretty much. Just remind yourself you need to add something to it. And then make sure, before you write, that you're really true to yourself. Is there something really special about this moment right now? Yes, it is. Because in this moment, you are able to plan ahead.
In this moment, you can be so focused on what is it that you want in this year. In this letter, you are talking directly to yourself. Saying, this is what I care about for this year. And then you can ask yourself questions like, what do I need to do? How would I hit those values? How can I achieve these goals? Make it your personal letter to yourself. One of the things that I've learned through my professional career and also my personal life as well, that we should really take it easy on ourselves.
It's important to realize sometimes we might miss. Sometimes we might miss the mark and not achieve what we want to achieve. Maybe it's time to review that goal or that want that you feel is important to you. Maybe you need to revive it. Maybe you need to add something to it. Maybe you need to put something new in. Look at your letter as a gift that you give yourself. Use it to push through and say yes to something that may feel uncomfortable but that you feel is the right thing to do.
One of the other things before we take a break is recognizing there is always boundaries. There is always obstacles. If you come from personal development or professional development, you understand how to set goals. You have to know what you want. It has to be a focused goal. You have to know what action steps you're going to be taking. You also have to know what obstacles are facing you. When you know the obstacles, let's take the example of driving.
You know where you're going so you follow the directions and then all of a sudden you hit construction. Now you have to reroute. Are you going to stuck and return back because you cannot drive forward with a new instruction or new route? No. You're going to find a way to navigate through the new route. When you feel like you're stuck somewhere, it's time to reevaluate that goal that you want to achieve. You want to lead your best life.
Invest in it. We're going to take a short break. When we come back, we'll get more into focused goals and then how to be mindful of our actions and how to move forward. Again, that's yourlifenow.info Welcome back everyone and Happy New Year again! It's still in January and you know what? It's a new year. 2023. Let's make it the best year ever. So before the break, we talked about intentions. We talked about why New Year's resolutions really do not fail most of the time and this is something most of the research has shown that people don't really hold themselves accountable for the New Year's resolution they set. Why don't we focus on focus goals? And something to keep in mind is progress is everything.
And we also talked about writing yourself a letter instead of New Year's resolution. Be honest with yourself. This is something for you. Only your eyes. So it's something that you can review every day. Something that you can edit every day if you need to. So you look at it. You add to it. And also, it's important to recognize what are the obstacles? What's holding you back? So most of the time, I wanted to share with you from my professional experience why resolutions do not work.
So let's say most people want to say they want to lose weight. They want to make more money. These are like a general New Year's resolution. Or some people want to say they want to set boundaries. This is really important. But then when you ask, let's say you want to lose weight. So why is it so important for you to lose weight? To begin with, remember the cause and effect. So we know for health reasons it can be very helpful very healthier to lose weight so you can be an ideal weight for yourself whatever that weight is.
But that's something you decide. You want to make more money. So are you going to fall victim to some of these scams out there? Because you're going to believe everything is out there? Or are you going to actually put plans in place, an action plan in place to earn more money? Or are you just saying, I want to make more money. These are general resolutions. They don't have the what do I really want and why do I want it.
Why? Not the how. It's the why. So keep that in mind every time you set a goal for yourself. It's not how I'm going to achieve that goal, it's why do I need to achieve that goal. Why is it so important to me? Intention creates our experience. That's why I live with intention every day. Intention is like setting goals. So I intend to be at my ideal weight. So if I intend to be at my ideal weight, what am I doing now and tomorrow? What am I doing now to be able to achieve or to set that intention and live that intention? So if you want to turn your new year resolution into focus goals, you need to focus on your goals.
Write them down, going back to one on one. I've learned this years ago, even when I was back in corporate. I've been in business in my company over 14 years, now coming on 15 years. In professional and personal development, leadership coaching and executive coaching. So maybe I know a few things that could be helpful that I would like to share with you. Another key thing to keep in mind that this is a code that I live by because it is really important to recognize and understand that the ultimate key to freedom is recognizing that everything is a choice.
Even if we don't choose, we are making a choice. So wouldn't it be better to actually be in charge of those choices that we make? Choices every single day. This is a new year, a new opportunity to move forward and to achieve the goals that you haven't achieved before or the one that you want to achieve and your intention. So if you are ready to turn your new year resolution into a focus goal start asking Why? What is it that I want and why do I want it? Trust me, the how is not as important as the why.
What is your why? If you are in sales, if you are in the leadership position if you are in your personal development want to achieve and have more you need to focus on your why. Why the success? Why improving myself personally or professionally? Why the new career? Why new skills? Why, why, why? So we understand how our intentions create our experience. So what do you intend to happen? And are you ready to make sure that your thoughts and feelings reflect your true intentions? Again, think of intentions as goals.
I can tell you there are a lot of books out there and one of my favorite authors, Dr. Wayne Dyer The Power of Intention, that was that book I lived that book. I read every chapter of it I understood what the meaning of the intention means and why is it so important to make sure our thoughts and feelings reflect that true intention for ourselves. Intention means that you have set a goal and you intend to achieve it.
Truly it's not only about change anymore, it's about creating something new in every moment. Set aside the fear of what if What if I played this game so many times with clients in my speaking and I asked that question What are you afraid of? What if this? So what if this happened? What would be the result? Well, if this happened, I can whatever. So you always take that fear into the next step If I take the what if out of the sentence I can just say, you know what, this is what I want and this is where I'm going for it and I'm going to do all my best to make sure that whatever it is, happens.
And if I disconnect myself from the outcome, knowing that I did my best the what if doesn't have a place in my life personally and professionally Since I come from a corporate background in sales, training it was really important to recognize when you are dealing in relationship, business to relationship, business to business or you're dealing with business to consumer B to C or C to B or whatever it is that your position right now You need to understand what their needs are So you need to understand their needs so you can help them achieve their goals But when it comes to you personally, you need to understand that for yourself as well So when it's not only about change, it's about creating something new and setting aside the what if and saying yes to something new and surprising ourselves and challenging ourselves and see how far we can go We do not have place for what if in our life Give it a chance So let's review this again Forget about New Year's resolution and switch to focus goals, write yourself a letter make it private for yourself Be flexible with yourself Know that nothing is set in stone and there is always room for improvement You can only get better, better and better if you are willing to get better and better Progress is everything Keep that in mind As you are progressing, you are moving forward Allow yourself to strategize with someone who can help you as well I love to strategize with you with your company, with your business, with your people So keep that in mind and I love to be of service But in general, really need to think about your intention What do you intend to see happening this year? How do you keep the excitement going throughout the year? We are still in the beginning of January and we got almost 12 months to go There is a lot of opportunities ahead if we just open our minds to what is possible There is only possibilities and progress is everything Let's take a short break and I will share with you a couple more tips and how to get a hold of us if you would like for us to help you forward We will be right back Thank you so much for being here Let's strategize with you and help you move forward and make this year your best year ever For more information, please contact us at yourlifenow.info Welcome back everyone You are listening to Your Life Now I am your host and executive producer Ria Wilkie Thank you so much for joining us today The first show of 2023 We are so glad to be here with you and I hope this finds you in good health and good spirit and ready to conquer this year with a great attitude and with positive intention and living and feeling our intention every day The place in New Year's Resolution Focus, focus, focus Set an intention Take an inventory of what you want to achieve this year Understand your why Why is it so important to achieve what you want to achieve this year Forget about New Year's Resolution Review the letter Be flexible with yourself Move forward knowing that you are doing your best Understanding that everything is progress Your ultimate freedom is recognizing that everything is a choice Even when we don't choose, we are making choices Make the choice that is right for you For you, for your business For whatever your why is Remember about the why and don't worry about the how I love to strategize with you We have a great team, we are professional at what we do and we love to hear from you For more details you can go to yourlifenow.info Send us a contact information We are on social media And remember this podcast, we've been doing this show It's going to be a long time 11 years We started with internet radio and now it's podcast Our show is available on Apple Podcasts, Amazon You can listen to our show on our website We love your support We do appreciate your support Donate if you can There is a donate button on our website We try to improve We love to hear your feedback We are here to support each other If you are in that spirit of supporting and being of service We love to hear from you That's what we are all about This podcast is available everywhere For more details, again, we would love to hear from you Contact me directly 864-7919 Or you can send us a contact information at yourlifenow.info And one more thing It takes collaboration and mutual agreement to make the impossible possible So go ahead out there and celebrate who you are And share hands and make the impossible possible And remember Be present See what's going on around you And take the steps to move forward Until we hear you again Be blessed, be amazing and much love to all Music Music Music Music Music Music Music Music Music Music
