The speaker shares a personal story about getting pulled over by a state trooper for speeding but was let off with a warning. They then talk about a soccer player named Ada Bogdanski who is doing well in her matches. The speaker's daughter's friend's father, who is also a state trooper, wants them to get involved in the Raccoon River Little League. They discuss the importance of community support for such leagues and encourage others to get involved. They mention that it takes a lot of effort and dedication but the rewards are worth it. They also talk about the connections and friendships formed through youth sports. The speaker emphasizes the importance of service and helping others to make life easier for everyone. you know reach back and settle them down and I'm on a highway trying to I was just about to set my cruise at 55 or 58 or whatever and I realized I'm going about 64 when I saw a state trooper going the other way. He pulled you over? Pulled me over and rolled down the window and my dog would not I mean my dog was going crazy and I go I got up at 6 a.m. in San Diego just 4 a.m. our time I didn't want to have to get up tomorrow I got a lot of stuff going I went and met my sister right over five miles away to pick up my dog and I was trying to settle in he's going crazy I apologize I'm so sorry I was I was speeding. He said well tell you what give you a warning please please be safe and drive home. Very nice. So I was talking to a new I don't know if I should talk about somebody else's kid in sports Roosevelt soccer. That's all right. As long as they're okay with it. As long as it's positive. Well my daughter's friend my daughter's friend Ada Bogdanski is going to be a star I think she's really amazing she scored I've gone to three matches she's scored three times already. Nice. Her first header in her career she was so excited. That first one was Bondurant it was a scrimmage but she's doing really well and so my kids have become friends my youngest is a big soccer player she made varsity which I'm proud of her too and I got to meet her dad Scott and he wanted to get involved and this is where you come in. He wanted us to see if we'd want to get involved in in Raccoon River Little League. Oh okay. If they really need support and by the way anyone who wants to support them please do they it's a shoestring affair and they just trying to get kids to play baseball and yeah and it's a good rec league thing. My kids played when they did but this guy Scott Bogdanski is also a state trooper so I talked to him about that but he also at this last match he's like they're saying you know like are you on the radio I'm like yeah cheers with Bruno you know I get that all the time and I guess if I didn't get that all the time I might not be talking to you today I'm pretty excited about I'm always very happy when somebody says that and I wanted to give a shout out to him I really appreciate all the folks on the road that protect us and say you know tell us to slow down it's a great thing you should be happy that they're out there and I you know don't pull me over and if you do I'll say hi and I'll be a warning please. I will reiterate the Little League thing and not not any specific. It just happens to be the one where we're supported. It takes an absolute army of people to put on all the coaches, the assistant coaches I mean the president I was lucky enough as a kid my dad was really involved with Pleasant Hill Little League he was the president of the league for a short period of time my dad was just a very involved guy he was on the city council and I saw that firsthand that man it takes a village of people to make these things happen for for a community well and anywhere you live anywhere you live that Little League is probably struggling there's a few that are really kicking butt and that are just a machine that are rolling and you've got people lined up to help they are the absolute minority and I mean less than five percent so if you had if you do love baseball and you're wondering what's happening with the popularity of the game I'd encourage you to start right here. And it's tough it's there's there's very little reward but when you do get those rewards it's amazing. There's not a monetary there's zero monetary and if it is it's like it's like a quarter an hour and it's a lot of hard work to get to that reward of having those kids say man this was awesome and fun Mike Woody who comes in here a lot with Murph and Andy Mike was involved with Raccoon River Little League for decades and he and I have had that conversation about that reward. Man Joe Tolari was in here yesterday I coached Joe in in Little League when he was like 13 14 years old those connections that you make with those families they last a lifetime and it's no there's all these sports like that yeah no and it's true we've we've formed those kind of friends and here's the thing if you're if you if you find yourself like myself I have a little extra time in your life because you've done some pretty good things we're pretty lucky and successful. Blessed. The Muhammad Ali said it best is service service is the price you pay is the rent you pay to live on earth or to that you know doing something else is kind of the rent to be able to live here on this planet be with everyone. Life is hard life's really really hard and if you can make it a little bit easier for the people around you somehow it'll make it easier for you
