My life is full of chaos. My world is utter. My house, car, and mind, all three are cluttered. How do I get peace when there are not enough hours in the day? How can I get some peace in my hectic world to come my way? How do I go from chaotic to peaceful today? Hi, and welcome to my podcast, SUP, S-U-P, which stands for Seek Understanding and Peace. I am your host, Katie Girl Five, and I am happy you are here with me on this day, today.
I will cover why this podcast and who I am. As you can tell, we are going to talk about our peace. We live in a world that can chip, chip, and chip away at our peace. I will call them chip away. This podcast, titled SUP, SUP, stands for Seek Understanding and Peace, was created because many things steal our peace. And when it does, it can negatively affect us, our mind, our body, and our soul. But first, a little bit about me.
I wear and have worn many hats. I'm a wife, mother, auntie, a grandmother, mentor, teacher, student, and friend. With all of my life experiences, I have heard and seen many things. I have talked to and helped many people. Others have poured wisdom into my life and helped me overcome some of life's challenges. I have grown and learned from all. And I have learned what to do and what not to do. Amen. I live in North America in the Midwest, where we raise our children and are enjoying our grandchildren.
I enjoy yoga, reading, writing, and trying different cuisines. I have experienced many peace chip away. Anger, worry, argument, bitterness, low self-esteem, doubt, bullying, and many more. It would have saved me much wasted time, tears, and grief if I had learned some truth about peace sooner. But, as the saying goes, when you know better, you should do better. I want to share these life-changing things with you. Can someone give it to me? Is it a feeling, an emotion, or something I can purchase? Or will I only be able to achieve this peace when I am dead? I hope not.
I know peace is not up one moment and down the next, like a roller coaster ride. Once you learn how to walk in harmony, the goal is not to allow anyone to control your emotions negatively. Because giving up control over your feelings gives them the power over your peace. So, here are some more peace chip away. Unforgiveness, toxic people, jealousy, debt, fear, secrets, or just a few. However, there are others like gossiping, lies, low self-esteem, racism.
These are all peace chip away. There's also passive-aggressive people in your life, like your family, someone at your job, and way forward, even some people in the church. The dictionary defines peace as quiet time and mutual harmony between people. Now that's good, however, I have a better definition. It's from the Bible. Psalms 85 and 8 says, God speaks and promises us peace. God wants us to have it. He knows we need it. Especially in this world.
John 14, 27 says, Jesus says, I'm leaving you with a gift. A gift, peace of mind, peace of heart, that the world cannot get. So, okay, wait. There are four essential promises just in this one verse. Let's talk about the gifts first. Gifts are fun to receive. Some you like, some you don't, and some you re-get. But this gift I'm speaking of, from God, is a gift that keeps on giving. You will not want to re-get it.
It is a gift of peace for our minds, and a gift of peace for our hearts. That sounds like inner peace, a calmness, a security, a serenity. Jesus wants his peace for us. And to top that, Jesus said the world couldn't provide it. This is that type of peace. That even when you are going through life's challenges, you can still have God's peace. Remember in Psalms 85, 8? He promises us peace. However, unfortunately, life's challenges can try and rob us of our harmony.
Cheating us out of a meaningful relationship and a healthy body and mind. So, let us get down to the purpose of this podcast. Suck. My goal is to share the many things that can steal our peace, but how to work through them without life's issues robbing us of our joy. Bi-weekly, this podcast will address these issues and many more. Combined with personal stories and great resources to help us get through life's issues one at a time.
To build our self-esteem and live a free, happier, and more connected life with ourselves and those around us. Monthly, I will have a section on caring for and loving ourselves positivity. Entitled, Peace by Peace. I believe that if you do not know how to take care of yourself, you will not be able to care for others as you should. You should be the best you. My mother always used to quote this to me when I was younger.
She said it many times. She said it so much that I thought she made it up. But, it is part of a poem by Edward Bach. And, it reads, Give to the world the best you have and the best will come back to you. I get it now. If you are not, if we are not at our best, we cannot give our best. So, let's face it. Life happens to us all. What do we do when it does? Do we allow it to defeat us? Or, do we fight and work towards understanding peace in our lives so we can succeed in every aspect? You did not happen upon this podcast by accident.
Something is here for you. I am excited for us to be taking this journey together. And now, on a more personal note. What has accepting God's peace done for me in my life? Well, peace keeps me calm when I want to blow up. Peace helps me make better decisions for my life. Peace keeps me mentally happy. It keeps me mentally healthy. Peace keeps me physically stable too. And peace says stop and think before I do. I look forward to our taking this journey together.
