Shaoqi discusses the future of schooling, focusing on its purpose, learning environment, and student skills. He believes that the purpose of education should be to make individuals better people with love for themselves, others, and the nation. He criticizes the current emphasis on getting into good universities and well-paid jobs, suggesting that education should instead aim to build a society of love, justice, and peace. Shaoqi also highlights the importance of teaching emotional and social skills alongside academic skills. He envisions a future learning environment that encourages creativity and allows students to make mistakes without fear. Overall, he advocates for a shift towards nurturing students' creativity in education. Hello, this is Shaoqi, today I'm going to share my thoughts on the future of schooling from the perspectives of schooling purpose, learning environment as well as student skills. To start with, there are multiple purposes of schooling from the basic of knowledge development to a higher level of enlightening or inspiring students to even more a higher level of transforming the hearts of individuals so that they know the values of life. For me, the real purpose of education is to make every human being to be a better person with love for oneself, for others and for the nation. As John Dewey, a famous educator once said, education is not preparation for life, education is life itself. By making a reflection, our education today is putting too much emphasis on getting into a good university and getting a well-paid job. In China, it has been so competitive in college entrance exam and some Chinese people would use a negative word, to describe it, which means red race. So I will envision the future education should aim at building a society of love, justice and peace instead of emphasizing on competitiveness in college or in getting a well-paid job. And on the other hand, the purpose of education will largely determine the skills we want to teach students. As a teacher, we should not only emphasize their progress in learning skills, but also their emotional and social skills. Because only by being healthy emotionally and mentally can we be a better person who can love ourselves, love others and love our nation. As for the learning environment, I feel like in the near future, students will still be taught in groups in the classroom. Although classroom technology will surely be more advanced with the development of computer technology or internet technology. However, the physical environment is only a small part of it. And it is largely determined by an economic development of a region or a country. So that's not something we can blame on or something we can judge. But what matters or what we can improve is the intangible environment or the cultural environment. So this intangible environment I can envision in the future should largely encourage creativity and encourage our kids never to be afraid to make mistakes. I can still remember the video I watched from the TeachNow platform, which is about a speech made by Ken Robinson, who talked about how to create an education system that nurtures creativity. One of his most important viewpoints is that if you are not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original. That is very insightful as I can notice most of our students in our country have become so frightened and so intimidated of making mistakes. Since our learning environment has been discouraging them from making mistakes. So and it has been some time since our educational system has been criticized of educating kids out of their creativity. So that's why I would say that in the future, our learning environment should be nurturing students' creativity instead of undermining it. That's all for my sharing. Thank you for listening.
