It's just an easy recording device I could bring anywhere All I would need is it and a microphone, and you can podcast And that's what I've been recording on This might sound a little bit different Because like I said, I'm trying to figure this shit out I'm recording right on Audacity, that's why there's a little pause at the beginning I wasn't even sure if it was gonna start recording right after Hot Hot Pepper's Bye here, intro But it did, it seems to, I hope I don't waste an hour of my life I hope this sounds decent I've tried this before when I first got this piece of equipment That the anonymous person on Reddit let me know is the Budweiser of audio equipment And next time I should buy the brand that he suggested He suggested a couple of brands And I'm eternally grateful for this dude or girl This random person that answered my chat message When I came across a Reddit subreddit thread I guess that's what they're called More this guy that helped me out, that answered my questions Was kind of complaining, whining about how he has invested In a couple different podcasts and his co-hosts keep abandoning him Now I don't know the rest of the story As the great Paul Harvey used to say But anyway, anyway, here I am talking shit on the motherfucker that helped me out And so his username was something about technical Or everything technical or something like that And so I was like maybe I should ask this guy, this person I keep referring to I just assume it's a guy who's on Reddit Cheeto finger in his mom's basement like me I'm not in my mom's basement and I don't have Cheeto fingers But I can relate And I just asked some questions that I don't even really know how to ask Because I'm so technically out of the loop When it comes to this podcasting equipment But I navigated those waters, got an answer And here we are recording straight on Audacity With my Focusrite 2i2 Scarlett or however the fuck And I hope it sounds alright If it doesn't, I've wasted hours and hours and hours of my life On countless bullshit So I guess one hour to the big fat babies is not that big of a deal What's up guys? Welcome back to BabyFat Appreciate you being here as always I'm running out, I'm trying to scramble, I'm looking at my topics Seeing where I'm going to go next Getting in the segues I don't know, I just had You know, the crutch Jamming up the throat pause Last time I paused a little bit when I said jamming up the throat And I paused because I was going to say my throat is coated And I ended up reverting to my throat is jammed up Like that was much better Just guess, I guess Acapulco I mentioned Acapulco I mentioned Francisco at least That's one of my topics On my little notes, my Notey Notes app and my phone Acapulco was very influential to me I had the opportunity to go there with Francisco I was supposed to only stay there for a couple of weeks I ended up staying for a few months And those few months, it was a complete, complete culture shock I thought moving to Missouri in 98 from Southern California was a culture shock No, anybody that's left the country I mean, coming back to the U.S. The U.S. is a beast on its own I don't think there's any other place like it I think there's some places around the world that emulate us pretty good But they still have like old world architecture There's just something that doesn't make them the good old U.S. of A When I got back from Mexico after three months I literally wanted to literally kiss a cop And get down on my hands and knees and kiss the earth Just to be back in the home of the free That's how destitute Mexico is And the people of Mexico are There's no jobs I mean, it's an easygoing lifestyle Because they have no other option There's nothing to look forward to There's almost no hope Your only hope is to cross the border Come to America, work the shittiest jobs The jobs that we don't want to work for a few years, for 10 years And send money back to your family And build a nice house there in Mexico But even then, your future is grim There's no retirement, there's no 401k You still got to go back to Mexico And those elderly years, what the hell are you going to do? How are you going to... You built a house They don't have the same kind of property tax system You can get ahead from working here for many years But still as an old person I find it hard to wrap my mind around how somebody would retire down there Unless you just really fiscally planned while you're here But the ones that I've worked with and known There's just always so many mouths to feed They're just sending most of their paycheck back You know, just for them to survive For their families that they created before they came here to survive So, I don't know Don't know, guys If you came to BabyFat Welcome back If you came to BabyFat For the solution to Mexican retirement It's not happening today, folks I haven't quite figured it out But, yeah Feel for it Feel for it Acapulco, best food Best food of my life I drank a lot when I was down there Of course, you know you can't drink the water I still got some kind of Montezuma revenge My stomach has never been the same Since I went to Mexico I really should get it checked out Because it's been, you know, 15 years But it's... Oh, there's just so much The food was so good I drank a lot of beer every day They called me a baracha They called me an alcoholic They probably must have just thought I was some crazy fat Freaking bump on the log American Just smoking weed all day out in front of their house Jeez Just 19, being young and dumb Thinking with my Bob Marley shirt on Thinking that's just the coolest thing in the world Is, you know, got a 40 in one hand A joint in the other And we're going to the beach We're coming back, you know I guess that's what I was there to do Is vacate, but at the same time Could have been doing other productive things Like learning what they were cooking that night Or just so many different things There's regrets in everything that we do And yeah, I have some regrets down in Mexico Some missed opportunities Just saying all that But it was still a great time My God, it was a great time Francisco isn't only the host of Post He was in his element You know, he comes from the mean streets of Acapulco As I mentioned before But now he goes back And he's worked in the States for many years He's built a comfortable life for himself here So when he goes back there He's kind of like a king Lives like a king for the few months out of the year And I got to ride on his coattails During this year's visit We would drink tequila all night We'd do ice, tequila, a splash of squirt Splash of water The water dilutes the tequila a little bit, I guess I can still taste it I have that drink from time to time here in the States But it'll never hit like In the tropical paradise that is Acapulco We would just drink all night Tell stories They would tell stories And Francisco would do his best to translate for me I would do my best to pick up on words every day And by the time I left Acapulco I really understood a lot of Spanish And I still do understand quite a bit But I got to be honest Spanish speaking does not come naturally to me I can't even roll my R very good So you hear that?
