JESUS will always find a way to build a personal relationship with you as we follow HIM together.
In this series called "Walk With Me," the pastor explains that it means more than just correction, but coaching and mentoring. It's about learning from our leaders and getting an impartation. The series will focus on three main topics: "Follow Him Together," "Life Together," and "On Mission Together." The pastor relates the importance of doing things together, like playing sports or going to church. The message is about following Christ together and continuing the journey of faith with other believers. The pastor also discusses the story of Jesus calling the disciples and how Peter and his partners caught a miraculous amount of fish. This series is part of the preparation for the church's anniversary. Today, we are entering into a new series, Walk With Me. Can we say, Walk With Me? Walk With Me. Actually, yung mga titles natin, even the previous series natin, Jesus Period, Walk With Me. These are, these titles, okay, galing po ito sa atin talaga, okay, as victory, as a church, okay. Yung Walk With Me is a saying, actually, malaming ibig sabihin ito, no. When a pastor, kapag ang pastor po, okay, nung kami ay college pa, okay, at sasabihin sa amin ng pastor, Walk With Me, kinakabahan na kami, di ba? I'm sure, nakabutan ni Alfred ito, Walk With Me. Nagsasabing Walk With Me, napapaisip talaga ako, ano kayo nagawa ko, oh no, di ba? But, it's more than the correction, okay, yes may correction lang nangyari, but mostly, ang nangyari dito is really coaching and mentoring. When you say, Walk With Me, it's time to learn from our leaders. Walk With Me, it's time to get, not just information, but to get an impartation. Walk With Me, and last week, sabi ko, hindi ko ginamit tong Walk With Me, sabi ko dun sa ininvite ko, Bike With Me, tama ba, Sikh? Okay, ginamit ko, tara, bike tayo, and we had a, we spent our time together, biking and relate our ride. Kuno yung pwedeng makarelate sa buhay and in the ministry. Now, Walk With Me, these are the three Sundays na pag-uusapan natin. Unang-una, Follow Him Together, pangalawa, Life Together, at pangatlo, on Mission Together. Okay, Mission Together. Objective ng series na ito is lahat tayo, hindi lang basta ma-inspire na pag narinig natin, Uy, ang ganda. Hindi, hindi lang yun, no, it's not just an inspiration, it should be compel us to start or continue this journey of faith na meron tayo with other believers. Look at the person beside you, sabi mo sa kanya, gusto kong mag-journey with you in faith. Journey in faith, of course, pag-uusapan natin through the life of Peter. Pero itong, this kind of fishing is different. This is for Him, for Jesus. And not only fishing for Him, but also fellowshipping in His name together. Buti naman lahat tayong gano'n dito, no? Sports yun sa iba, eh. Pero, eto, how about this, diba? Sino sa inyo naglalaro ng tennis? Okay, nag-try to play tennis. Pickleball, meron ba? Yun, alright. Uy, okay yun, bagong ano yun, eh. Kinaghihiliwan ng tao, pickleball. Hindi, mahirap maglaro mag-isa ng tennis, tama ba? Kaya nag-serve, tapos hahabulin mo sa kabila, parang hirap yata ano, no? Hindi mo magagawa yun, with this. Unless, ayun na sa kabila, pader. Ayan. Pero ang pangit, parang nakakalungkot, diba? Pader lang yung kalaro mo, okay? Hindi pa rin, okay? Medyo... Mas maganda kung meron kang ka-interaction. Minsan, ang gusto ng tao, may trash talk, eh, diba? Lalo na pag sa basketball. Ilan sa inyo dito ang Lakers? Yun, isa na lang. Isa na lang. Ha? Nawala, kasi nalaglag, eh. Talo. Asan ay Warriors? Ponti lang. Denver? Wala. Mavs? Sige na nga. Kinebra? Yun talaga, eh. Sorry, ha. Side on sa side note, na. Malakas naman talaga ang Lakers, eh. Sana tanggalin na lang yung isa. Anyway, um... It's a sport game. It's a team game. Alright? If you are a fan of... Who's that? They call it King, ha? Wala. King pa naman ang tawag nila. King James? James ba yan? Hindi. King Lucero, mabait yan. Okay. But, um, here, tennis. Diba? Mas masaya kung may kalaro ka. Ano pa? Football. Diba? Soccer. Yan. Can you imagine? You can play alone. Diba? Ang laking football field, no? Ikaw lang mag-isa tumatakbo. Mahirap. Kailangan ng other players also. Other people. What else? Of course, basketball. Diba? Siyabi natin kanina. It's fun to do basketball... to play basketball with others. 3-on-3, 2-on-2, 5-on-5. Diba? It's... It's fun. Minsan, nagkakasakitan lang naman talaga. Pero, still, marami kang nakikilala when you do these things with others. Another thing that it's fun doing together is this. Church. It's the church. I'm happy that you're here today. It's fun to do this with you together. And in order for us to do this, of course, we need to continue to follow Christ as well. Diba? Kailangan sabihin natin, diba? Follow Him together. That we will continue to follow Christ together, whatever it takes. Now, again, pag-uusapan natin to. We will read Luke chapter 5, 7 verses 7 to 11 but we will talk about Luke chapter 5 verses 1 to 11. I would like to invite everyone to stand up and open their Bibles to Luke chapter 5 starting in verse 7. So, babalikan natin yung verse 1 later. Sabay-sabay po natin basahin. On the count of 3. 1, 2, and 3. They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees saying, Depart from me for I am a sinful man O Lord. In verse 9. For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken. And so also were James and John sons of Sebede who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Do not be afraid. From now on you will be catching men. In verse 11. And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him. Together. Lord we pray that let your Holy Spirit guide us and understand Lord God, your word today. In Jesus name we pray. Amen and amen. Again, this is a series where it's a preparation for what will happen to our victory at 40, the anniversary of our church. And walk with me again, I said earlier it's a saying in victory among the leaders when they ask us to walk with us, it means that it's a mentoring time. It's a discipleship moment. It's a coaching moment for us. There are times that I don't hear this. And I am waiting who will tell me this today, walk with me. Even until I am old, I have a wife, every time that Pastor Ariel will say in the office, King, come with me. Even the word walk with me. Let's walk. Walk with me. So we will walk. Sometimes he will ask me, King, let's go to Caloocan. I will preach there. I will go with Pastor Ariel. I will drive but I am waiting for the conversation with him. Because I want to learn some more. I want to learn life with him also. And taking that opportunity to learn not just life but to learn who God is in his life. So that I can also apply it in my life. Now, let's do it one by one. In verse 1, this is the story where Christ first called the disciples. But if you will study about this, we need to read not just one chapter and we will choose when we open it. No, let's read the previous chapter before this. But I will tell you in Luke chapter 4, one of the stories there is that Jesus healed the sick of Simon Peter. From being sick, Jesus healed. In short, even in the ministry, Jesus preached in Luke 4. It means that they saw Peter, the disciples before they were called. They heard who Jesus is and he preached. Everywhere in Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee. There are other miracles, but in this part, in Luke chapter 5, this time, Jesus preached again along the shore. It says here in verse 1, On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Genasareth, the Sea of Galilee, one side. So there are people listening to him. He is not just a few people. Actually, there are many who are listening to him. People want to listen to him preaching the word. It says here, pressing on him, pressing on him, as if he can change his face. How many of you here are willing to change your face? Please change your face to me. You don't want to, right? I don't want to, right? But here, this is what happened. On the very shore, the scenario here, Jesus saw two boats. And he saw two boats by the lake, by the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. He reached them, cleaned their nets, and said, their fishing for the day is over. He said, it's done. They came inside, but they did not catch anything. They did not catch anything on that day. Now, the lake of Genasareth, again, that's the word, we call it Sea of Galilee. Sometimes, this is called Sea of Tiberias. So, this is small. I have told you this before. The Sea of Galilee is like Laguna Lake. Alright? It's a lake. But you can see the other side also. Right? You can see there, when you look there, there is the Pililio Laguna, there is San Mateo Rizal, there is Puntang Quezon, there is also... The mountains on the other side, they are different. So, the picture is like that in Sea of Galilee. Now, it is also said there, again, Jesus, while preaching in this place, it is said that Jesus called those two that have a boat. It is said in verse 3, getting into one of the boats. So, they got on one by one. I'm sure they said goodbye to Peter. Peter was the one who got on the boat here. He asked him to put out a litter from the land because the people can still see him. So, he said, put out a little so that I can still preach and people can see me. So, that is what Peter did. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. With that line, we can see a lot here. Every time that Jesus will sit down, he will start teaching people. Here, even in Luke 2, when Mary lost her son, Jesus, after a week, he went back to Jerusalem and then he saw Jesus sitting down beside all the Rabbis. And the Rabbis were listening to him. Why? Because he was teaching them the word of God. Now, after so many years, even as an adult, still, this is what he did. He sat down. Whenever he will sit down, he will teach people. Do you have friends who are excited to see you and talk to you and you want to sit down and listen to them? Do you have friends like that? Okay, none. Because we have friends who, when you see them, you don't want to sit down and see what this child or this friend will say. Sometimes we avoid it, especially when we hear only negative things. Only complaints, only problems. But here, people were so excited that they're pressing on. They are eager to hear Jesus. And in order for them, for Jesus to be heard by the people, he went on the boat. So that he can move a little and started again to preach. So that's it. In verse 3 and 4, Jesus having to get away from the heavy press of the people was one reason for going on the boat. Actually, I'll just look at it. So, it was still intentional that Jesus did it. He will try to connect himself to people. He will try in every way, he will connect himself. And on this time, because he saw two boats, he asked Peter again to use his boat. So that became the reason to connect himself to Peter. Another reason was his voice would carry better to a larger number of people. But I can't imagine if on the sea, actually the sea is noisy, right? So maybe, actually, it's a lake. So on that time, it's not windy. So he can speak. So that people can hear properly. The third reason to borrow this boat was to show this fisherman that he was the God of miracles. He will show. Because in this story, in verse 4, it says, And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch. I was asking my wife earlier, what did the Lord teach you here to Peter? I am curious. Yes, he's speaking about his word, but what was his main message? And even the people in the boat was listening. They had no choice. They were listening. Because Jesus was already there. They had nothing to do. They couldn't do anything. In short, also, when Jesus asked Peter to put down the nets, there are people watching him. Because the people were still there. Not just the two of them. There's a lot of people watching him, what Jesus will do. So in short, when Jesus said this, people heard this also. His conversation with Peter. So can you imagine the scenario? I'm painting a picture with you. So we can understand and see what happened. Because that's how I am when I'm studying. I want to imagine that I'm already there. On that area. You will just put down the net. If you put down the net, it will be too sunny. Usually, fishermen fish when it's dark. It's easier to catch. Because they just light it. There's a way of fishing. They know how to do it. They are experts. Now, let down your nets. And I'm sure this is a mag-damag. But they didn't catch anything. But still, Peter is still there. When he heard this, he can question Jesus. But before this, I know and I believe that Peter knew Jesus already. Because in chapter 4, again, I said this earlier, that he encountered that he already heard news about Jesus. Because Jesus healed his mother-in-law. There's a reason why Jesus did that. It's a connection. Eventually, Jesus will connect himself to Peter. Again, this is the time. Jesus is about to preach, or to teach Simon Peter a very important lesson. Yes, Peter caught a mag-damag. Peter caught a fish. But he didn't catch anything. He didn't catch anything. Nothing. He didn't catch anything. And he will take this time, Jesus will take this time to minister to Peter. Not only to Peter, but also to his companions, James and John. They will be there. They will be together in the boat. He didn't catch anything. He didn't catch any fish. Then, he will give instructions to a carpenter to fish. And then, suddenly, he will catch something. Right? And I'm sure there's a message that Jesus wants to hear. Sometimes, that's how we are in life. Sometimes, God will minister to us in a place where, you know, we feel or sometimes we think that it's a hopeless place. It's a hopeless scenario that I will minister to this. It's a hopeless place because it's really hopeless. Right? People won't listen to me. But, with this, in this hopeless situation, God can do something hopeful in the life of this fisherman. Now, we must have faith to throw out the net also. Are we willing? I'm sure you heard this from me also. Are we willing to throw our net when God asks us to do it? Are we willing to throw our personal nets so that we can catch more people for Christ? Right? Are we willing to do that? We need to continue to put action to our faith and believe that it will happen. Look again at your neighbor and say to your neighbor, It will happen. In verse 5, I will read first what we were talking about. And Simon answered, Master, we talked all night and took nothing. But, at your word, I will let down the nets. And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish and their nets were breaking. Right? Because they caught a lot of fish. I was the only one who got caught. When Peter said, But at your word, I will let down the nets. With that line also, with that verse, that's when Peter trusted Jesus. But because of your word. How many of you are here? Again, some of our friends promised to pay their debts. I will pay you next week. Of course, you will depend on it. Next week. Let's talk about next week. I didn't say what year. Right? When is next week? What year? Right? Sometimes, it's frustrating and discouraging because the word was not fulfilled. Now, with this, to Peter, because he heard the word of Jesus, let down your nets, but at your word, I will let do it. He trusted the word of Jesus, saying, you will get something. Let down your nets. Let's see what will happen. Verse 6, And when they had done this, they imposed. They caught a lot of fish. In the physical, Simon cannot see the fish. In the truth, where they are. Jesus said, If you go ashore, then I will preach. After he preached, he gave instructions to Peter, let down your nets. So, I'm sure Peter will wonder, wait a minute, is this deep? Or, is this not deep? If you want to catch more fish, you go on to the deep ocean. Right? Deep. If you want to catch a lot of fish. But here, it's just close. So, Simon, Peter, probably cannot see the fish, but his obedience to the Lord's command, make it, make him experience a different scenario. In verse 6, And when they had done this, again, they imposed. Obedience of the Lord brings great rewards. Let's obey the Lord. Why? Because it will bring great reward when we think that, okay, that's a bit vague, but because the Lord said that, I will do that. Is that right? Because it came from your words, Lord, I will act on it, I will obey. How many times to us that the scenario is vague, but when you're talking to God, reading His word, following Him, the rest of your life, and then there's an instruction from the Lord, do this. But when you heard it, you read it, you know, it came from the Lord, and as a person, it's vague, but it doesn't matter, for you, you continue to obey the Lord. How many of you did that? You said, Lord, it's vague, but I will do it, because you said it. I also told myself, I also want to, I really don't want to be a pastor. I was a businessman before, again, I want to be a businessman forever, I want to be known there, and so on and so forth. In short, I want to get rich. Rich, very rich. There. I'm richer now. Do you know why? Because the Lord is in my heart. But when God called me to be in this full-time capacity, preaching the word of God, being a pastor, I said, Lord, when the first time I heard it, it's vague. Lord, I'm not good at speaking. I don't know. Am I qualified? It's impossible. It's impossible, Lord, for me to be like that. But because God, He said that, I want to follow you. I will obey you. And that's the scenario here with Simon Peter. But again, Simon Peter, but at your word, I will let down the nets. Now, verse 7. They signaled to the partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came, again, Peter was not alone. I'm saying to others, he was not alone, he had company. He said, they, their own partners, helped them, the word them, they, okay, so made the long boat. He said, during this time, yes, while people are watching what will happen from the shore, there are also expectators on the boat. Other people that will experience the miracle from Jesus, okay? This is it, right? In verse 7, James and John were with him, Simon, were with him on the boat. This whole thing happened to James, John, and Peter, and even Andrew, who Jesus really is. There is a personal encounter already. A face-to-face with Jesus. This is enough fish to finance even the fish they caught because of the miracle. It's really a miracle because the weather is hot, and they caught fish. It's a miracle because the fish they caught will give them the amount they need for the month, it's for the month. In verse 8, when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me for I am a sinful man, O Lord. And with this, because of a face-to-face encounter with Jesus, Peter realized that this is no normal man. There is something in this guy that is different. And he realized that he's not just a man, but he is God because he said there, Depart from me for I am a sinful man. How can he say that without a revelation from the Lord, knowing that Jesus is God? Personal thing. It's not just heard, but personal. I'm a sinful man. You did this. I caught fish today in a shallow water. Again, it's a miracle that happened to Peter. Peter immediately realized that he was in the presence of the Holy One. Exercising his divine power in front of him. The miracle to a fisherman sets Jesus aside as God. This happened when he saw a lot of fish. Peter knew that no mere man could do this. No one else can do this but God. He said. Peter suddenly compares himself to God. Depart from me. I'm a sinful man. And Jesus knew that, I'm sure. Jesus saw his heart. That's why he approached Peter. Verse 9. For he and all who were with him were astonished. Even from the shore. The people on the shore. They were so amazed. Because I'm sure they knew that with that time with that shallow water you can't catch that many fish. They were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken. In verse 10. And so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Do not be afraid. From now on, you will be catching men. This miracle showed that this future disciples of Jesus gave men the courage to leave their nets. They were given the courage, the strength of the heart. That eventually, they will leave that and they will catch for men not for fish anymore. We see this in this call of this fisherman that Jesus deals with us at the level of our understanding. Jesus leveled those fishermen. Now, what can we learn from this story? We say, Follow Him together. When Jesus did the miracle, He was not just doing it to one person. If you will observe, He was doing it in front of people. Yes, Jesus is a personal God, but still, the impact of what He's doing is for everyone. So that all of us will follow Him together. Very ironic when we discuss this. Peter faced the challenge of following Jesus and he paid the price together with others who were called by God's grace to follow Him. Let's go back to verse 3. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked, put out a little from the land, and he sat down. And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, put into the deep and let down your nets for a catch. One thing that we can learn from this is this. Jesus will always find a way to build a personal relationship with you. Jesus went down to the level of the fisherman. So it wasn't an accident that there were two boats on His shore. It's not an accident that He did preaching His word in front of these people. It was always intentional to connect Himself. You know, Jesus is the best person to connect to others. In short, with this, Jesus will always find a way to build a personal relationship with you. It means Jesus built a personal relationship with the disciples at that time. This is the tactic of Jesus. Can I borrow your boat? Can I ride first? Then I'll just preach. Just a moment. Do you remember when you were invited by your friend? Do you want coffee? I'll give it to you for free. Do you remember? You were invited. Let's go to Seasouls. Let's eat. I'll give you lunch for free. It is a way of connecting. Jesus connecting Himself to these people in order for them to hear and witness the miracle. Not just witness the miracle, but witness the plan of God, the power of Jesus in the lives of these people. Similarly, in relational discipleship, forming an authentic connection with others is crucial for effective mentorship and discipleship. Even in this church community, allow us to pray for you. When people ask you, can I pray for you? I'm sure no one will refuse to pray for you. But be ready. Because with that prayer, God will change your life too. And if God will change your life, God will let you stay in this church community. And if you decided to stay, we will continue to follow Him together. Are you here with me? Again, Jesus will always find a way to connect Himself. Not just in this church, but even in your office. There are times, why is it like that? There are people who are avoiding the church. But when you go to your office, there's one particular person sharing the Word of God to you, to your life. And you know, I don't want this anymore. But God is the one making that way for you to hear His Word. This is very important. Again, God will continue to find His way to build a personal relationship with you. Personal connection is very important. Connection. The ministry of Jesus here on earth was marked by His ability to connect with individuals. Again, His disciples have different personalities. But still, He connected Himself to these people. To His disciples. Remember also, when He healed the leper, in order for Him to connect to the leper, He touched him first, before He healed. Connecting Himself to people. Jesus is the one making that way. And sometimes, the sad thing, most people don't like it. Maybe you're here today, but God is the one making the way already for you to know Him and be personal with Him as well. Again, Jesus demonstrates His desire for intimate relationship with each person. Regardless of their background or status. Not only that, but He witnessed through action also. Verse 7, They signaled to their partners, See, He grew. I mean, they got a lot. And then, they called the other boat. They signaled to their other partners on the other boat. And they called Him. They said, Help us here. We can't do this. And then in verse 8, They said, Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord. Jesus will always let us encounter Him in a personal way. Yes, He will make a way to connect Himself. But it's more than that. He wants us to encounter Him personally. Personally with others. That's what they said. Personal encounter. Jesus reveals Himself to us in various ways, including through personal experiences, dreams, visions, and moments of spiritual insight. Even in our scenario or situation in life, the hardship that we are going through, God wants us to see Jesus in that moment. God wants us to encounter Jesus with our situation, with our struggles, with our challenges in life. These encounters are deeply personal and mostly or more often in moments of prayer, reflection, and worship to Jesus will always let us encounter Him in a personal way. If there's a personal way, there's also communal. Actually, both are happening in this moment. Personal at the same time, communal because Peter is with us. The power of God is amazing. Now, we can hear together the Word of the Lord, but the Lord is telling you individually now. That's personal. But what we're hearing now is communal because we are all hearing the same message from the Lord. Communal encounter with Jesus happens when a group of believers comes together just like this. That's why it's communal. Gatherings, individual experience, the presence and love of Jesus among us. Again, one message that you are hearing now, all of us, communal. But there's a personal encounter with Jesus right now in our hearts that we're hearing. Last verse, verse 9. For He and all, that's what it says, right? Don't be afraid from now and you will be catching men. In verse 11 also says, and when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him. There are things that God wants us to hear and take actions. But it's not just for us, but also for other people with us. Are you here with me? My last point. Meeting Jesus can result in significant spiritual transformation. Yes, He will connect Himself. We will encounter Him, but there is a transformational that will happen in our lives. Expect change in our lives. Meeting Jesus can result in significant spiritual transformation. It's not just, again, I'm not talking about physical transformation, but inside, in our hearts. Maybe you've been asking the Lord, Lord, change my life. In order for us, for this life to be changed, we need to encounter Him first. Just like these disciples. Encountering Jesus will bring significant change, significant transformation in our lives. The question also is, are we willing to see that? Are we willing that it will happen in our lives? Spiritual transformation, we believe that encountering Jesus can lead to profound spiritual change. And through faith in Jesus, through our faith in Jesus, we as individuals can experience forgiveness, can experience redemption, can be renewed in the sense that we have a purpose in life. Maybe in your walk of life, trying to figure out what's the purpose. Or maybe to some, you're tired already about your situation. Leave it to the Lord. Give it to God. Allow Jesus to be with you personally. Encountering Jesus empowers us to serve not just ourself, but to serve others also. And we can make a positive difference in the world. Jesus did that miracle not just for Peter, but for everyone who's seeing Him. He took the action and show it to people. He led by example. That's why it is worth to follow Him together. Let's all pray. Lord, we thank You for today. A simple story, Lord God, of simple people following You, obeying Your Word. I pray, God, even as a church, we will continue to follow You together. We ask You, God, to be with us all the time. Can you all stand up right now? I want to pray for some people here. Maybe, again, you are in a situation where you cannot see Jesus right now. But in truth, He's there. He's there in that situation that you have right now. Allow Him to show Himself to you and connect Himself to your life. Allow Him to change not maybe the situation that you have, but to change your heart so that you can respond in the right attitude with the right heart. Lord, I just want to pray, God, for those people who are in challenge right now in their situation. I pray, God, that they will see You, Jesus, in the midst of that. Whether it's a relationship, Lord, business, school, or family problems, Lord, I pray, God, that in this way, Lord God, You will connect Yourself, Lord God, to these people, to Your church. So that when they encounter You, Lord God, their faith in You will be even stronger, Lord God. But to those people, Lord God, who have just heard Your Word, who have just heard that in any ways You can show Yourself, Lord, I pray, God, that this is the start and this is the moment of a changed life for them. Let the Holy Spirit come down and be moved in the midst of us right now. Can we all worship Him?
