The speaker welcomes the listeners to a morning devotion session and starts with a prayer. The theme of the devotion is discerning the voice of God. The speaker reads passages from the Bible that talk about hearing God's voice. They emphasize the importance of having a devotional life and seeking guidance from spiritual authorities to discern God's voice. They also mention that being involved in church activities is not enough to know God's voice and encourage humility and mentorship. They conclude by saying that reading the Word of God helps us become familiar with His voice and deepen our connection with Him. The memory verse is John 10:27. The speaker ends with a prayer and encourages listeners to stay tuned for more programs on the radio.
Shalom and praise the Lord, wonderful family. God bless you for joining in the Just Ended Prayer Startup Session and a warm welcome to our Morning Glory Devotion. This is Pastor Jude DeGrasse Terrier and it is a privilege to be facilitating today's Morning Glory Devotion. Shall we share a word of prayer? Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for the opportunity to come before you once again. We pray that Lord you open the eyes of our understanding as we look into your Word this morning.
In Jesus mighty name have we prayed this Thanksgiving, Amen. Shall we take a confession from Joshua Chapter 1 Verse 8? Joshua Chapter 1 Verse 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of my mouth, but I shall meditate in it day and night, that I may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then I will make my way prosperous, and then I will have good success, Amen. The theme for this morning's devotion is Discerning the Voice of God and our scripture reading for today will be from John Chapter 10 Verse 27 and 1 Samuel Chapter 3 Verses 1 to 10.
I'll be reading from the New King James Version. John Chapter 10 Verse 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. Amen. 1 Samuel Chapter 3 Verses 1 to 10 Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before any, and the word of the Lord was rare in those days. There was no widespread revelation, and it came to pass at that time, while Eli was lying down in his place, and when his eyes had begun to grow so dim that he could not see, and before the lamp of God went out in the tabernacle of the Lord where the ark of God was, and while Samuel was lying down, that the Lord called Samuel.
And he answered, Here I am. So he ran to Eli, and said, Here I am, for you called me. And he said, I did not call. Lie down again. And he went and lay down. Then the Lord called yet again, Samuel. So Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am, for you called me. He answered, I did not call my son. Lie down again. Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor was the word of the Lord yet revealed to him.
And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. So he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am, for you did call me. Then Eli perceived that the Lord had called the boy. So Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down, and you shall be, if he calls you, that you must say, Speak, Lord, for your servant here. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. Now the Lord came, and stood, and called as at the other time, Samuel, Samuel.
And Samuel answered, Speak, for your servant here. Blabbed, Here ends the reading of the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. As born-again believers, it is important that we are able to know and discern the voice of God. One of the surest ways to achieve this is through our devotional life, which involves reading, studying, and meditating on the word of God with prayer. By so doing, we are also able to build a consistent fellowship with the Holy Spirit, who makes us discernible to the voice of God.
In John chapter 10 verse 26, Jesus says, My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me. The sheep is able to recognize the voice of the shepherd because of all the time they have spent hearing his voice on the field. The most consistent way to hear God's voice is to maintain a lifestyle connected to him through his word. Another way by which we can effectively learn to discern the voice of God is by seeking guidance and counsel from godly pastors, mentors, parents, and spiritual authorities that God has placed over our lives.
God's methods are men. When we get closer to them and let them in on the happenings of our lives, they will be able to teach us by experience to know when God is speaking, just like Elie the priest did for the boy Samuel. Perhaps, for some of us, that is our story. Just like the boy Samuel, we may be actively involved in church activities, serving the Lord in various capacities, and yet we do not really know the voice of God.
Being actively involved in church activity is not a guarantee to discerning the voice of God for ourselves. Sometimes the only way to unblock our blocked ears to hear God is to humble ourselves, get close to leadership, and open up for mentorship and discipleship. Precious one, there are so many competing voices around us, but the one who knows God's voice takes every inferior voice into the Word of God for ourselves. When we read the Word and allow it to be engraved on the tablet of our hearts, we become more and more familiar with the voice of God and our connection with Him deepens through the help of the Holy Spirit.
Amen. Shall we take our memory verse for today? Our memory verse for today will be from John Chapter 10, the verse 27, and I read from the New King James Version. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. Amen. Let us pray. Dear Lord, we thank You so much for the deposits that You have made into our hearts this morning. Help us, O Lord, to discern Your voice through the study of Your Word and in our connections with the Godly leaders You have placed over our lives.
In Jesus' mighty name, we pray this Thanksgiving. Amen. God bless you for staying connected. Please continue to keep your dial here on Radio HCI today for more Spirit-filled programs. Continue to stay tuned and stay blessed. Amen. Amen.
