Well, welcome everybody to our podcast tonight. Tonight we're going to be talking about our assisted living and nursing home facilities and how to reduce the spread and risk of getting COVID. We have James Jordan here from the CDC. James, hi, how are you doing tonight? Hello, Raquel. Thank you for having me in tonight. You're welcome. James, you know, when the COVID pandemic hit, it really caused and hit globally hard, didn't it? Yes, it did. In 2019 alone, over 6.8 million people died due to COVID-19. Wow, wow, that's a lot. I know my mother was in a facility and we couldn't see her for a long time. And I know they made some changes and some implementations. What kind of implementations and programs of the CDC does the CDC recommend? What kind of programs are they implementing in our facilities? Yes, Raquel, in our facilities, we are encouraging not just the residents, but the staff to get vaccinated with our boosters. The vaccine alone reduces the chances of contracting the disease by 91%. Wow, wow. I bet that in combination with the hand-washing techniques and didn't you tell me before we started the show that you were implementing sanitation stations and for those people who are in the nursing home that can't get up and physically wash their hands that the nurses, you're working with the nurse and healthcare staff to carry on their med carts, spray sanitation to spray on their residents. Exactly, Raquel. Implementing the hand-washing and with the sanitation stations throughout the facilities so that not just residents, but also the guests can use should significantly reduce the chances of contracting COVID. Well, James, that sounds like a pretty good implementation. I thank you for coming on tonight and sharing a little bit of information. If anyone wanted to get a hold of you, where could they do that at to get more information? Yes, you can go online to www.cdc.gov and should be able to get in contact with me or find out any information that the CDC is putting out. All right, well, James, we thank you for coming on tonight and you have a safe drive coming home. We hope to have you on here again soon.
