The podcast discusses the topic of climate change and its negative effects. It highlights how climate change is accelerating due to increasing greenhouse gas emissions. Students can contribute to reducing climate change by taking simple actions such as saving water, recycling, and using energy efficiently. Technology can also play a role in reducing our environmental footprint through inventions like renewable energy sources. The community should take immediate actions such as implementing recycling, saving water and electricity, and using biodegradable materials. It is not too late to stop climate change if we transition away from fossil fuels and adopt eco-friendly alternatives. Hello, dear listeners, from here David Garcia speaks to you. In today's podcast we will touch the topic of climate change, as well we will have Fernando Canda, Luriani Junco, Isabela Gutierrez and Miguel Guevara. Today this is a topic that is touched a lot because we always hear bad news about climate change year after year, the world exceeds the record. This produces harder heat, waves and melting of the poles, which means a danger for many countries. It is no news to anyone that every day climate change is faster and faster and is causing the greenhouse gases. We as humans, instead of reducing it, are increasing it, we notice this and much more this day. It is known that in 2019 was emitted 50% more CO2 than in the year 2000. This is because of two factors that are related to the collective emissions of these gases. One, economic growth and two, the death of the population. It is better to explain. As the population grows, consumption increases, which causes more CO2 emissions and economic growth causes the purchase of more products that emit CO2. Fernando, how can you ask a student to stop climate change effects from keep rising? Hello, my name is Fernando Canda. As a student, it sounds difficult to be able to help stop or slow down the climate change, but in reality, with certain actions, you can help being a student. As a student, you can help reduce climate change with things as simple as saving water, throwing away the garbage in its place and, if possible, recycling it, moving on foot if you live nearby, saving energy, among other things. For example, as a student at Universidad Metropolitana, you can throw away the garbage instead when you are at the fair try not to throw away food. When you go to the bathroom, save water. For example, in the library, try to save energy and what would be one of the most important to promote these actions. How do you think technology can help you reduce our footprint in the environment? Hello, my name is Lorena Zunco. I think technology is a great tool and I would use it to reduce our footprint in the environment. There are inventions that help us create renewable wind, hydraulics and solar energy. In addition, technology has a very important role because there are new ideas daily to rescue our planet. If we think well, the future of humanity is in the hands of technology, but it must be done because it will not be invented alone. What kind of action should our community take to reduce climate change effects? Hi, my name is Isabela Gutierrez. As a community, we should take immediate actions such as implementing recycling in homes and also having garbage collection and recycling days, saving water and electricity and implementing solar panels that provide us with electricity in a sustainable way. Use a day to clean parks or squares near our houses. Implementation of biodegradable materials. Use more ecological products. Teach children about the importance of helping the environment. It's very important in this moment taking consideration the three R's. Reuse, repair and recycle. Do you think it is too late to stop climate change? Why? Hello, my name is Miguel Guevara and no, it is not too late to stop climate change and even less now that we are becoming more environmentally aware. We just have to stop relying on fossil fuels and replace it with something more eco-friendly. In conclusion, it is not too late but we must stop it as quickly as possible. Thanks to our guests for coming. We hope you liked today's podcast.
