Terrible Classics Love & Basketball

So did you did you know that? Gabrielle Union actually met Dwayne Wade in high school hmm, so what happened was Gabrielle Union went on a date with Dwayne Wade Um things did not go great on the date and Then Dwayne Wade went over to went on to marry Monica But then when Monica got too caught up in her WNBA career He didn't left her to get back with Gabrielle Union and now and now they're happily married Yeah, I just always try to funny like when I was watching this movie. I was like Gabrielle Union Was thirsted over a basketball player in high school Gabrielle is married to Dwayne Wade right now. So how much acting then was she doing not to mention in that movie? She said that she wanted to lick the sweat off his butt to sweat off of his butt And then we later find out what they got going on Gabrielle you yeah Yeah, exactly. What is going on Gabrielle Union? Are you really acting in these movies anymore? You gotta go back and look at Gabrielle Union movies after what you know about it. But um, yeah, so Who am I supposed to like in this movie Larry? That's that's what I want to ask I'm gonna tell you who I hate it. Okay, let's start there Monica's mama Yeah, I don't think there was one point on the screen where Monica Monica's mom Was on the screen and I enjoyed I saw a meme yesterday. It's funny. It was like, um Alfred Woodard has failed to not listen as a mother in three different movies Right So bad man, and what happened to honor daddy was around cuz her daddy must have got her Yeah, her dad got a job at the time when she couldn't before they had established the WNBA. Yeah, but Yeah, what is going on? What I don't understand what she had going on. What was her? What was her angle? I don't know. I was I honestly, I could I Could is it commend? Yeah I commend the directors and producers of this movie for not killing off one of the parents cuz I just saw it coming You know when you watch these 2000 films or like 90 films about like family like one of the parents dies and I just I Knew it was gonna be her. I feel like if there was a parent that had to die It would have been Monica's dad Would have made the most sense which would have prompted Them to have that dramatic conversation about why it's so important for her to get married and have a husband because she was the linchpin in the whole discussion of Cuz she was like remember when I told you that Quincy could do better I met you and then that's what triggered her to be like, all right I'm about to go over here and play him in basketball, even though he got a bad knee The bad thing about that advice was she didn't know everything that Quincy put her daughter through well Well, let's start there because it's Quincy. It's Quincy likable. No because I feel like in the first leading up to This is I think this is the part where I'm like, it was a good movie when they were in high school Because I think he treated Monica very well Respectively when they were in high school, I think Quincy wasn't likable from when he was a kid. I Think Quincy was the villain of them. Think about this, right? All right I've been I saw the movie starts off boom boom boom Quincy's not the villain of the movie family family moving in family No, Quincy's the villain of the movie. Quincy's not the villain of the movie. So family move new family moving in boom I I'm playing like three boys up here playing three on three basketball 301 whatever they play three boys playing basketball Whatever it was probably playing 21 playing horse. Oh, they're playing horse. Okay, three boys up here playing horse a girl dressed as a girl Kyla Pratt dressed as a boy good walks up the hill and She wants to play them in ball. She takes her head up In Chuck's she takes her hat off and they find out. Oh, she's a girl So boom, you know, they come out there and they found out she actually baller Actually, she could ball better than everybody the side note side note. They play in basketball They play like a game of 21. Where's the out-of-bounds cuz at one point in this game of 21 Quincy takes a shot off of the call Where is out of bounds because if you ask me if you ask me He's out of bounds that shot doesn't count Anyways, so they play basketball out of all my years of like playing outside I've never seen anybody get scarred up on their face the way Kyla Pratt got scarred up by being fouled into the grass But that's where Quincy Flavor foul one. That's where Quincy becomes villain number one to begin with. Mm-hmm fowler abuse domestic violence Push the girl don't put your hands on women Go for One of the highest forms of domestic violence if you are familiar with the cycle of abuse One of the things that abusers frequently do is they will come back and they will apologize And then try to make things right before the next level of abuse and with that So what Quincy does is after he's given her Monica a flavor foul on the basketball court. Yeah play Was meaner in front of all his boys then that then the next time we see him He's pulling up at her house. So my old let's ride to school together You want to be my girl, let's kiss But this also happened at the one night that he just set up his mom and daddy was having sex and he just sat there listening with his flashlight So then next thing, you know After there was just uh, he was like, yeah now that we not kiss you gotta ride on my bike and she was like, well, you know, I'm a I'm a woman of the 80s now, and you know, you know men don't control us. Mm-hmm I have a choice in the matter. So I ride my own bike. He don't want to be her big girlfriend So yes, he pushes her off the bike domestic violence to villain number two at the wild boy So maybe I don't feel like he's the the bad guy of the movie, but he is a bad guy He's a he's a terrible guy, but out but here's here's here's the thing though But when they get the high school, right? He was holding her down. I mean technically maybe right? She ain't got no car. He driving her home She watching her game. She was like, oh, yeah, I'm out here And all I'm thinking about is how many and I trying to figure out how many rebounds I had He knew how many rebounds yet. Mmm, but he's watching their games. He is supporting her He's the one who was there in case that USC letter was bad news He was there with her when she was reading that letter And then he discloses to her before he discloses to everybody else that he's going to USC He was he was trying to be a good guy at that point trying He were trying but he was so traumatized by the real bad guy of the movie the all-state man All of the bad in this movie happens to Quincy because of his daddy He was a terrible father Mind you Quincy's daddy Zeke McCall was a former basketball player former NBA basketball player That is got two more years in the league when we're introduced at the beginning of the movie And he's trying to fix his career and get it whatever becoming NBA scout when he works his way to becoming NBA scout and fast forward to Quincy in high school Zeke McCall is the worst parent ever Zeke McCall cared nothing about his family because if you look at If you look at Quincy's mom Quincy's mom had the worst week ever Until she got divorced Until she got divorced she had the worst week ever and if you paid attention Quincy slept in the twin size bed until he left Yo daddy is in the NBA and you sleep in a twin size bed You can't get him a fool at least a fool and your choices are your choices are I can sleep in his twin size bed Oh, I can go sleep on Monica floor and you routinely will go sleep on Monica's floor and Monica had a full-size bed Her daddy work at the bank and my daddy's a basketball. My daddy's in the NBA She got a full-size bed. I got a twin. I got a twin Come on, man. Yeah, like Zeke Zeke McCall was a terrible parent a terrible husband and um, I Mean he got another baby on the way. Yeah, and he's been cheating on he was cheating on his mom Pretty much the whole movie is what it was seen I mean the writers were on the wall, but I can understand how they didn't see it What a foreshadow like once you've seen the movie, you know was coming like they clearly foreshadow it for you Like yeah, I got even call is clearly cheating on his wife. We want this to be we're telegraphing this for you We want you to see he's clearly cheating on his wife But for some reason they felt the need She felt the need to hire a private investigator to take pictures of him at what it appears to be a cheap motel But at the end of the day, I don't see Zeke McCall is a bad person, but this movie ain't about Zeke. Okay. This movie is about Quincy and Monica which makes Quincy the villain but we also just explain why Monica is Also the villain when we talked about how she Had this man who was trying to revitalize his NBA career playing basketball For her heart two weeks before he's supposed to get married. No Team Monica, I had five years I am team Monica and I'm gonna tell you wait until this man Out of busted up me and is about to get married for you to finally come around and say, you know what? I think I think we should you know, we should get back together I'm gonna tell you what I'm gonna tell you. Well, where was this the whole time he was in college? I'm gonna tell you why I'm team Monica. I Monica can't be the villain in this Monica's the best person in the movie. Well outside of Regina, you know Regina King, we're tall Regina Hall. I don't miss a tool. It's all good. But anyways, we're all the VP And she's the best except for that one thing. She did which was Send her little send her high school sister on a date with Boris Kudrow Boris Kudrow was the biggest creep in this movie I forgot about that Get back to Boris Kudrow You were in college You were in college At a high school dance Trying to figure out how do I make you comfortable Leave Sir Get out of here You big creep Why are you here? And why are you so old? What are you doing? Why do you keep biting your lip like that? And and and and the way The reason why you're even on this date is because Regina Hall told you Oh yeah my sister look just like me She need a date for the dance Oh yeah she look just like you How old is she? Get out of town Boris I'll take her to the dance Regina Hall was the best person in this movie Outside of Outside of Monica's bad I don't think Quincy's mom was a bad Person outside of that wig Like I think She and and and Kudos to her for moving on Um you know She got rid of the wig her hair look better Um Zeke says She got her a new man but my thing is Zeke says I almost didn't realize you I didn't almost didn't notice you without your hair She says yeah I'm happy But my thing is You happy but why y'all still in that same house? Um You got a new man Why didn't y'all move? I mean sometimes You Anyways um It don't make sense So um Where was I going with this So yeah so you explain why You explain why Quincy Is the villain and Monica is A great person His high school his high school career was cool I bet you know what I'm saying He takes Monica's virginity whatever Um Then they go to college He remembers to use a condom A condom that he was going to use on Gabrielle Union But he didn't use it on Gabrielle Union So I think Monica should have at least pointed that out Like oh you you you was going to get some Cuddy somewhere tonight huh Well I mean Zeke I mean Quincy McCall You know Quincy McCall was getting Cuddy all filmed So you it was just he couldn't turn it away Gabrielle Union was out here Trying to Lamborghini his door Um he ends up with um Ebony before she starts working at the Players Club Um he uh T'Nai lays in And um and Tyra Banks All the same movie So before we go to break let's go ahead and point this out So yeah he was good in high school But then when he got to college That's when the younger Villain of Quincy started to arise Again There's one correlation in Quincy's Life that makes him the biggest Villain Like when he's up He's there for Monica 100% But when he's down He ain't nowhere to be found Monica was there 24 7 Well except when she had curfew No no You can't hold that against her Nobody would hold that against her I don't hold it against her I'm just saying you know There were times from Quincy's perspective That she wasn't there But my thing is And I've been a 19 20 year old Boy before a man Before But my thing is Your daddy cheating on your mama Is not enough reason for you to just Spiral out of control Well well well well We'll get to that in the next segment It's not an employment lie
