Hello everyone, welcome to the third episode of the Last of Us podcast. I'm your host Josue, the Arena, and we're going to see in this chapter how Henry and Sam make a tentative truce with Joe and Ellie. Joe wants to split up, but Henry proposes that they escape the city together using an underground tuner router known only to Henry. Joe hesitantly agrees. Henry confesses to Joe that he was responsible for the death of Kathleen Brothers and turn him over to Fydra in exchange for medicine for Sam. Ellie and Sam quickly become friends after escaping through the tuner. The group is attacked by a sniper from an upper story window. Joe sneaks up and kills him, but discovers that he was radioing Kathleen, who arrives with her army. Before Kathleen can kill Henry, a horde of infected emerge from underground, including a large plougher called the Capita Scary, which he was the right arm of Kathleen. Right after that, a clique of boys attack Kathleen from behind and kill her. After the group escapes to a motel, Sam shows Ellie that he was beaten on the leg. The next morning, Sam is infected and attacks Ellie, and Henry kills him before committing suicide. Joe and Ellie hurry then and set out on foot to the west. Three months later, after Henry and Sam's death, Joe and Ellie reach a small, thriving community in Jackson, where Joe is united with Tommy, whose wife Maria is pregnant. Ellie learns about Sarah's fate from Maria. Joe confides in Tommy about Ellie's immunity and his own declining mental state. Joe asks Tommy to take Ellie to the Fireflies. What is this? She's immune. What? Ellie. She got infected, but she didn't get sick. Tommy. Tommy. I saw her get bit myself. That was months ago. Months. She's immune. From the beginning. It was Marlene. She hired us to smuggle her to some Fireflies. It went bad. Tess got bit. She made me swear to take the kid. It was her dying wish. What the hell was I supposed to do? We made it as far as KC, and then, you know, she saved my life there from another kid. Five years ago, I would have destroyed him. But she had to shoot him to save me. 14 years old. Because I was too slow and too fucking deaf to hear him coming. And that's all. That's all. A man killed his own brother to save her while I just watched. And today, I thought that dog was gonna tear her apart because it smelled something on her. And all I did was stand there. I couldn't move. I couldn't think of anything to say. I just... I was so afraid. You think I can still handle things, but I'm not who I was. I'm weak. Maybe there are these moments where the fear comes up out of nowhere and my heart feels like it's stopped. I have dreams. Every night. What kind of dreams? I don't know. I can't remember. I just know that when I wake up, I've lost something. I'm failing in my sleep. It's all I do. It's all I've ever done. It's failure. Again and again. So, in what we can see in this part, Joe thinks that because he's getting old, he's not the same as he was before in 20 years. So, he has a trauma that he believes he will lose everything and everything. Because he sees Ellie as her daughter, Sarah. So, he's afraid to lose her again. That's why he asked Tommy to continue the mission to send Ellie to the Fireflies. Because he is unsure if he can make it. This is it for this episode. Thank you for listening. See you in the next episode. Thank you.
