Consumer purchasing is influenced by a company's promotional strategies. Discounts, celebrity collaborations, sales team promotions, and social media marketing are effective strategies. Nike's success on Instagram proves this. However, there are negative examples like Sony's racist ad, which received backlash. It is important to have inclusive and well-documented campaigns. Sony's example supports the argument that consumers can be influenced. The podcast asks for listeners' opinions. Hello, thanks for subscribing to our podcast. This week on the news, there has been a lot of discussion about consumer purchasing innovation. In today's episode, we'll discuss the question, to what extent are consumer purchases influenced by a company's promotional strategies? To get us started, we are going to hear from myself, Juno, and my partner, Christina, to share our extensive research on the questions we'll discuss. Firstly, I strongly agree with the statement, company promotional strategies have a great influence on consumer purchases. According to the research I've done, I believe that a company's promotional strategies not only have a big impact on generating consumer interest, and also persuade them to purchase their product efficiently. I find there are four common strategies that companies usually use to attract consumers to purchase their products. They are discounts, collaboration or celebrities, CMO or sales team promotion, and digital or social media promotion and marketing. For example, the Taobao platform always has a big discount event during Thanksgiving week, Double 11, and some special days to hold a shopping carnival, and promote that in lots of social media platforms like TikTok. More than 20 people around me said they have been attracted to that event, and purchased a lot because of those big interesting discounts. So it shows that discount is a very efficient strategy for companies to influence consumers to purchase products. Furthermore, evidence from Nike also supports this statement. We can see that Nike has 8 accounts on Instagram, and also lots of accounts on Facebook or other social media platforms. And in Instagram, it already has more than 252 million followers. That shows they have gotten a great result on promoting on social media platforms. In this way, they can attract new consumers and influence them to follow the trend of young people, and make more consumers purchase their products. Therefore, without a doubt, company promotional strategies have a great influence on consumer purchases. My name is Pichino, and I do not agree with Janet's opinion. What are my views? My views are that consumers won't be affected by companies' promotion strategies. Through the examples I've found from my research, I think that it's possible to have some fair examples in real life, because nothing is perfect. So, through the examples I've been given through, I propose that our consumers won't be affected by companies. There's an ad about Sony's white PSP, which has some things in it inside it. So, this ad is basically about a poster to promote PSP. And in the poster, there's a white woman grabbing a black woman's face with the wording of Joy's Vision Portable Light Coming Soon, which includes some conversation of voices to that. Although, the posters are on purpose, so it makes people concerned. This is just a bad example of promoting. So, it is an example about racist. Therefore, I disagree with this statement, because the example of Ben ended up receiving a ton of negative reviews in social media ads. The biggest lesson from this marketing strategy debacle is that it's crucial to have a strategy group and review team with multiple perspectives to ensure your campaigns are inclusive and well-documented. They all could have benefited from more case-based marketing instead of a poorly designed ad like this. In addition, I think that Sony will also support this viewpoint, according to the example from the statement, which can prove that there are mistakes which could serve their purposes and could cause serious issues. So, that is why we should be careful about marketing. And also, there are things that couldn't be decided by consumers in reality. You have now heard both sides to the statement.
