The main ideas from this information are: - The heat dome will continue to keep the area hot and dry through the last weekend of July and into next week, with temperatures reaching 103 to 105 degrees. - Texas voters will have to decide in a constitutional election on November 7th whether to approve a $12.7 billion package of property tax cuts, which would provide savings to property owners suffering from high tax bills. If approved, the cuts would be applied for the 2023 tax bills due in January. Good evening everybody from our tiny little studio in the pines it's friday july 23rd and it's time for a little bit of news a little bit of local news a little bit of texas news we got some bad news we got some good news so it's going to be pretty cool here we go from channel nine here in lufkin they say that the infamous heat dome will continue to keep us hot and dry through the last weekend of july and will look to hold its grip over the deep south throughout all of next week this will lead to our daytime highs climbing above the century mark each day for the foreseeable future and in fact by this weekend and early next week our highs will be in that 103 to 105 degree range which will make it some of the hottest temperatures we have felt to this point all summer long and that's your bad news so here we are with some good news channel 2 news out of houston is reporting that billions in property tax cuts need texas voters approval before taking effect here's what you need to know a 12.7 billion dollar package of property tax cuts goes before the voters later this year promising to deliver savings to millions of property owners in texas suffering from the skyrocketing tax bills governor greg abbott signed the legislation creating the cuts last weekend officially closing months of negotiations among the state's top republicans but before the texas voters will first have to decide in a constitutional election on november 7th whether to allow the state to spend billions in taxpayer money mainly collected from texans during the past two years to pay for the massive cuts but if approved an outcome that seems likely given voter support of tax cuts in the past the changes would be applied for the 2023 tax bills due in january and that wraps up the texas minute powered by is this thing working
