In this episode of "The Thing Workin' Show," the hosts discuss the extreme heatwave in East Texas and urge people to show appreciation for mail carriers and delivery workers. They mock the idea of blocking the sun to combat climate change, which was mentioned in a White House document. They also talk about the impeachment of General Ken Paxton in Texas and criticize the lack of evidence provided. They express their dissatisfaction with politicians who receive donations from big pharma and hedge funds. The hosts highlight the need for more competition in elections to hold politicians accountable. They briefly mention Senator John Cornyn and announce that they will release daily podcasts from Monday to Friday. Hello there! It's July 13th, Year of the Lord 2024. This is The Thing Workin' Show. So today, we have a lot to talk about. For one, in East Texas, it is hot. The temperature has been out of control sweltering. Yeah, it's super hot. Now PSA, public service announcement. Please remember your mail carrier and all delivery folks out there during this scorching summer heat. It is always a great feeling to see a frozen bottle of water hanging on the mailbox, or an offer of a cold beverage, non-alcoholic that is, when you're getting your package from your driver. Just take nothing to at least offer them something. Most of the time, they will say, no, I got something. You know, it's really hot out there and your UPS driver doesn't have air conditioner either and neither does your mail carrier. They don't have air conditioner. And it has been 100 degrees and then 114th heat index. Yeah, today it was. Yeah, it was really, really hot. It's still really hot. And I mean, you be in the air conditioner and you walk out and you just feel like you're suffocating. And then being out in that air and the humidity is so thick. It is really thick hot. You know, us being mail carriers and everything, we keep waiting for these radical climate change activists to do something that they say they're going to do. They're going to help change the climate. Joe Biden is going to block the sun out. Oh, he's going to block the sun with all the solar stuff going on? Didn't you see that the other day? I can't remember where that was at. Hey, you know what? You go ahead and do that because I got a few things to say about that. How is that going to work with all the solar panels? You need sun for solar panels. Isn't that what they're wanting everybody to use now? You know they're not thinking that far. You know they ain't thought about that. Who on earth would come up with an idea to block the sun? Here we go. Here we go. And this is from Fox News of all people. A White House document that revealed the Biden administration is considering studying blocking the sun's rays to slow climate change sparked by… Yes, it sparked surprise and mockery on social media. Well, I bet it did. I bet it did. Good Lord. I heard about it. I'm surprised that you didn't see that the other day. I thought it was so ridiculous I couldn't even follow up. I thought people were bullshitting. Yes. They were just making fun. I didn't know that was a natural thing. They're always saying crazy things about Biden. That's what our government is doing. That's our tax dollars hard at work. We're going to block the sun. What are they going to do? Put a dome over us? That's like out of a Stephen King book. That's beyond Stephen King. I don't know. He probably wrote it. He's such a Democrat. That's beyond Stephen King even. I mean come on. The only thing that we've seen any movie that even comes close to something like that was Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow, Nuclear Apocalypse. The dome was a Stephen King book. I guess that's how Biden figures he's going to block the sun out. We're just going to start throwing nukes everywhere. It's such a scientific movie that's going on right now. I mean it's dystopian. It's a parody. Is it? Everything is a parody now. There isn't a parody account on social media everywhere. Someone needs to parody me. That would be fun. Right. By the way, I'm Delia. I can do it. And my co-host is James. Yeah. So welcome to Is This Thing Working?, and we are fired up. You are extraordinary. We're fired up today about the workings of America because it's not working. Is this thing working? Is this thing working? Yep, here we go. So welcome to our show today. Before we get into the national politics, I want to give an update on the impeachment of a General Ken Paxton, which I'm sure… Attorney General. He's suspended, yes, but it's been two months since Ken Paxton's impeachment, and still no evidence as to why. They have given no discovery papers. They don't have to. Not this administration. They don't have to give you a report. I know. You know why. In Texas, you would be a Republican. You know why. He has sued the Biden administration 47 times. He's sued the administration 47 times. He's went after them proudly, and he makes me proud. That was a vote I'm proud of. Yes, we voted again for General Paxton, and a lot of people did. He didn't even – I mean he won the primary bloated away. Well, sure he did, and he's delivered on what he said he would do. And that's why he got voted in again because he did what he said he would do. What I read today was that he was also going after the sexual predators, the human traffickers. Well, he also went after Big Pharma too, and Walgreens. He sued them. But you know what's so crazy is even Paxton's legal counsel is struggling to get answers as to why. It is required under Texas law. People have a right to know what they're being charged with and any evidence related to those charges. Well, that's the law. Exactly, but they have not given up any information. Now, Lieutenant Patrick has come out with a statement and has sent… Lieutenant Governor? Yeah, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick. He has come out with a statement and sent a letter to Phelan's office and his attorney's office trying to figure out where all the discovery is. They've given him until I believe July 14th. I believe that's when it is. You know what? It might be July 26th. I think it's July 26th they have until to give discovery. But a Senate is already setting up the rules, and they don't know what to do next because they have no discovery. So he can't fight back. So I'm going to be honest with you here, Peanut, because I think that they're just keeping him off the bench, keeping him from doing his job for as long as they can. You think it's a stall tactic? I think it's a stall tactic. Well, I'm sure it is. Yep. I'm sure it is. Because he's suspended. He can't work. They're playing the same game with him that they did with Trump, with President Trump. They are. They're playing the same game with him. The process is the punishment with these people. Yes. The leftists and the commies, man, we're so infiltrated in our country. It's amazing. It's really scary what's going on in Texas. I mean you see it in the federal government, but when it's here at home in your state that you felt safe and trusted and to find out that every – even our representative, Trent Ashby, voted to impeach our attorney general. I know. I know. And we're going to do what – and we need to do what we can to make sure that Trent Ashby doesn't win another election. That's my plan. That's exactly right. I vowed that too. Back last month I vowed that. I was like, that's it. I'm going to do what I can. And we've looked over his donor list. We've looked at that, and you see where the power came from. You see where the influence came from, and you see why. Yes. All you have to do is – and you can find that. You can look at – there's a webpage for that. I can't remember what the name of it is. You can find out all this information at the Texas website. It's all on there. All their donor information. There was a certain website. Ah, here it goes. Yes, it's an independent website. It's called Open Secret, and on here it has – you can look up any of the legislators. You can look up their top contributors. You can see their donor list. They list them all. Like this list for Trent Ashby, they show 20 entries, but even Ashby – like I say, when you look at his donor list, you can see where the influence is. But it's called OpenSecrets.com. Okay. And you can find him. You can find anybody in the state, and I think in the federal too. From what we were looking at, there was quite a few of them that had a lot of big pharma money. Yes, a lot of them had big pharma money. And the speaker of the house. And a lot of real estate and a lot of hedge funds too. Corporate. A lot of hedge funds too. Oh, yes. Those are fun. Yes. Yes, you know they're not up to no good. Yes. I mean a hedge fund – what exactly – One of Ashby's biggest donors was a hedge fund, and it's seven people working in a little small office in Houston. So we're going to do what we can to make sure – well, we need to find a candidate. We need to get a viable candidate, somebody that's willing to step up here and take him on. Yes. Because that's a lot of the problem that we find here in our area, and it works that way with the judges' elections. It works that way with the DAs, those that are our local elected officials. 90% of the – probably 75% of the time, they run unopposed. So they just sit there. They do. They sit there, and they sit there, and they sit there. That's the same with the Texas House and Senate, the same exact thing in Texas for the federal, for the national Senate and House. They run unopposed. Senator Cornyn ran unopposed last time, and I'm telling you we don't want him. Well, that's why he behaves like he does is because he ran unopposed. What does he have to lose? He has nothing to lose. Oh, I know. So he can go where the money is, and that's what he's done. We're talking about Senator John Cornyn in case you're not following who we're talking about. I'm surprised you're even able to follow any of this. I'm just rambling on over here. Actually, I think we're doing pretty good. I hope you're doing all right out there, our one-and-a-half fans maybe. Probably, like, got cracked up on their hand or falling asleep. Falling asleep. Their heads bobbing. That's all right, though. That's all right. We're having fun, and we're going to be here daily, Monday through Friday. We will put out a podcast. Hey, Denise was talking about the heat earlier. Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you. You go right ahead. But it's on my mind, so I need to get it out. But you were talking about the heat earlier and talking about mail carriers and delivery people. Look, it's anybody out there. Just like anybody's got to work out in the heat, man. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Make sure you take plenty of breaks. Get in the shade whenever possible. Don't overdo it. If you start feeling yourself begin to feeling strange, then you need to sit down. You need to get in contact with somebody. You need to drink a lot. You need to start sweating profusely. You need to cause water. Don't let yourself go too far. Don't eat a lot of sugar. Know the signs of heat exhaustion. You don't want to get a heat-related injury. We did have someone pass away in Dallas because of a heat-related injury. So we need to all take care of each other out there.
