We're thankful for your dear son. We're thankful for your love towards us, Father God, and your patience, and your longsuffering. Father God, please help us to repent of our sins, to follow you by faith and obedience. Help us to be doers of your word and not hearers only, deceiving our own selves. Father God, we pray that we meditate upon your word. Let your mind be in us, Father God, the mind of Christ. Let our minds be filled with your word. Help us to be filled with the Spirit. Father God, we'd like to pray for all those who presented prayer requests this morning on the line. Father, you know the condition of each and every one of these individuals who have asked for prayer. We just pray that you will be with them, Father, and that you will show mercy on them, and that they will find grace right now, Father God, as they come boldly to the throne of grace to find help in a time of need. Father God, we pray for all the people who are going through the storm, that you will protect them and that you will be a provider for them, Father God. Father, we just ask that you forgive us for our sins, and that we always be forgiven towards others, Father, and be merciful, Father. We pray that this study be a blessing. We pray that the message that's being preached, Father God, be received into pure minds, Father God. And where our minds are not pure, we pray that they will become pure and pure, the more that we draw nigh unto you, Father God, and obey the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. Amen. The fear of the Lord prolongs faith, but the years of the wicked will be shortened. The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish. The righteousness will never be removed, but the wicked will not inhabit the earth. The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the preserved tongue will be cut out. The heart of the wicked is worth little. The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom. Amen. Okay. Again, looks pretty good coverage on Proverbs. Does anybody got any more? Jesus answered and said to him, most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jesus answered, most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of the water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Okay. Well, thank you. That's a good study. What does he mean by the water and what does he mean by the spirit? Anybody else? John 15, 14. John 15, 14. Yes. Henry. Go ahead. You are my friend if you do whatsoever I command you. Amen. That's one thing that a lot of people don't appreciate. Not just say, I love you, but we do what he says. Anybody else? Mark 24. Go ahead. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Mark 11, 22 through 26. Jesus answered and said unto them, have faith in God, for verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass. He shall have whatsoever he says. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye decide, when ye pray, believe that you will see them and ye shall have them. You have one minute remaining. When he's saying pray and forgive, if ye have ought against any that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. I'm in Luke 24, verse 47. It's saying that repentance and remission of sins shall be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. That's what Christ was telling our prophets. What shall be preached in Christ's name. That's one of the accounts of the Great Commission. So we've got one in Luke, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and there's one in John. This is David Lloyd, Jr. Excuse me if I dropped the word. Okay. So I'm going to read my text. Matthew 6, 14 through 15. It says, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. I think maybe Latourin read something along that same line. In Matthew 5, 21 through 22, it says, You have heard that it was said to those of old, you shall not murder, and whoever murders shall be in danger of the judgment. In verse 22, But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of judgment, and whoever says to his brother, Raka, shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, Yufu, shall be in danger of hellfire. So if we can learn to forgive, not be hateful or be angry, we'll solve a lot of our problems. That's one thing I had to overcome a long time ago. You have one minute remaining. Okay. So we've had a lot of good verses this morning. Anything else? We'll move on to the lesson. And we're in chapter 3, verse 18 through 20. And Latourin, would you read that? Yes. And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people, but Herod the Tetrarch being reproved by him for Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evil which Herod had done, adding yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison. Okay. So Simon Perry says, At this point, Luke draws to a close the story about Tosk. Thank you for using Global Telling. Although his ministry may have run concurrent with Jesus for about a year, Luke tells us nothing more about what he preached except to say many other things in his exhortation. Luke does briefly state the reason John was in prison by Herod. He reproved Herod for being married to his brother Philip's wife and for all the evils he had done. So Isaac, would you read Mark 6, verse 18 through 29? Yes, sir. For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for a deed to have thy brother's wife. Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him and would have killed him, but she could not. For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and a holy, and observed him. And when he heard him, he did many things and heard him gladly. And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains and chief estates of Galilee. And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in and danced and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatever thou wilt, and I will give it to thee. And he swore unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee unto the half of my kingdom. She went forth and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? She said, The head of John the Baptist. And she came in straightway with haste unto the king and asked, Saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist. And the king was exceedingly sorrowed. Yet for his own sake and for their sake which sat with him, he would not reject her. And immediately the king sent an executioner and commanded his head to be brought. And he went and beheaded him in the prison. And he brought his head in the charger and the demons gave it to her mother. And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse and laid it in a tomb. Some information that we need to know. The commentator says that at his baptism, Jesus was confirmed by God to be his son. So Tashidia, can you read Luke 3, 21-22? Yes, sir. It says, One day when the crowd was being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened. And the Holy Spirit in the bodily form descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, You are my dear, beloved son. And you bring me great joy. Alright. It says at the height of John's baptizing activity, Jesus came to be baptized also. And a couple more readings that cover that. Patricia, can you read Matthew 3, 13-17? Matthew 3, you said 13-17? Yes. Okay. Okay. Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent him, saying, I need to be baptized by you. And are you coming to me? But Jesus answered and said to him, Committed to be so now. For thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he allowed him. When he had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water. And, behold, the heavens were opened to him. And he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven saying, This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. Alright. Charles, can you read Mark 1, 9-11? Alright. Mark 1, 9-11. And it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized with John and Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens open. And the Spirit like a dove descended upon him. And there came a voice from heaven saying, God, my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased. Alright. And so, our credit says, at his baptism, John was praying when heaven was opened. The task he was about to undertake was so great that it's not surprising to find him in prayer. In Matthew's account of baptism, we're told that John at first objected to baptizing Jesus, saying instead he needed to be baptized in Jesus. And we read that a minute ago. The question is often asked, since Jesus was sinless, and since John's baptism was for the remission of sins, why did Jesus come to be baptized? We've got several readings about Jesus being sinless. I think Lotharion, David, back to you. Can you read Hebrews 4, 15? Yes. We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weakness, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. But he's speaking about Jesus being a high priest. And then Isaac, 1 Peter 2, 21-22. Okay. For to this you are called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that you should follow his steps. Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth. Okay. And Tasheviah, Matthew 3, 15. Okay. Tasheviah there? Yes, I'm sorry. I still am. It says, what Jesus said, it should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires. So John agreed to baptize him. Okay. And it says that Jesus answered and said to him, permit it to be so now. For it is hidden for us to fulfill all righteousness and heal out. So, to me that's a sufficient answer. We know that Jesus did a lot of things that he didn't have to do. He didn't have to be born, first of all. Certainly he didn't have to go to the cross. He didn't have to pay the temple tax that he did. He didn't have to obey the Sabbath, because he's the Lord of the Sabbath. But he did a lot of things that were not actually required of him. Usually the reason people raise that objection is because they say that baptism is not for the remission of sins. And yet, it tells us plainly that John's baptism was for the remission of sins. And also Peter tells us in Acts 2, 38, that it's for the remission of sins. The Bible says, though Jesus had no need of cleansing from sin, he did come to do the will of the Father in every respect. In John 6, 38. Patricia, would you read that one? John 6, 38. Okay. Okay. Okay. So he was here to do whatever God instructed him to do. A boldest memory of that is him in the garden. He prayed, Let this cup be removed from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but your will be done. The Harkwriter says, since the baptism of John, Jesus therefore demonstrated perfect obedience to God's will. And if we're about to pass, would you read Luke 7, 29-30? Luke 7. Luke 7, 29-30. And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God being baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. Alright. John says they rejected the will of God. It was God's will that people be baptized. And so, Jesus was going with God's will even though he didn't have sin. The Harkwriter says, furthermore, since baptism into Christ has commanded sinners now, he gave us an example that as he submitted, so should we. So Patricia, are you there? Yes. Okay. Would you read Acts 2, 36-38? Okay. Acts 2, 36-38. Okay. Alright. And let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gifts of the Holy Ghost. Holy Spirit, I'm sorry. Okay. And then, Victoria, Acts 10, 47-48. Alright. And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days. So it's a good study in itself to understand what's going on there. But the important part is that Peter commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. And in the first report, we see that that baptism was water baptism. And then Isaac, Galatians 3, 26-28. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek. There is neither slave nor free. There is neither male or female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. Our prayer says it might also be reason that in this public act, he exhibited his fellowship to the human race for whose salvation he came. He walked in the flesh that he might become the perfect sacrifice to generously bear the punishment for sinners. And, uh, uh, Shiva, would you read, uh, 2 Corinthians 5, 21? Yes, sir. Yes, sir. It says, for God made Christ who never sinned to be the offering for our sins so that we could be made right with God through Christ. Okay. Patricia, Hebrews 2, 14-18. Okay. In as much sin as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, he himself likewise shared in the same, that through death he might destroy him who had power of death that is the devil and release those who through fear of death were all in their lifetime subject to bondage. For indeed, he does not give aid to angels, but he does give aid to the feet of Abraham. Therefore, in all things, he had to be made like his brethren that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself has suffered, being tempted, he is able to aid those who are tempted. Amen. Our Christ is the spirit descended in the form of a dove, a voice from the heaven's space, in Luke 3-22. We've read that before, but let's read it again. Charles, Luke 3-22. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven which said, You are my beloved Son, and you I am well pleased. A voice came out of heaven saying, Thou art my beloved Son, and thee I am well pleased. On one other occasion in the mount of transfiguration, a voice from heaven likewise confirmed the authority of Jesus. And Isaac, Matthew 17, verse 5. Thank you for using global telling. While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed him, and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud saying, This is my beloved Son, and whom I am well pleased. Hear him. Our Christ says, Those who stood by at the baptism of Jesus must have been overwhelmed with his miraculous confirmation that even as John had said, Jesus is greater than John. Luke 3-16. Yes. Sheba. Luke 3-16. Luke 3-16. John answered their questions by saying, I baptize with water, but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am, so much greater that I am not even worthy to be his slave and untie the tattoo of his shoes. He will baptize you with holy water and with fire. Holy water. Thank you for using global telling. Holy Spirit and fire. Did you say holy water? I mean Holy Spirit and fire. I said holy water. Okay. We thank you, Father, for blessing us, dear Father, with each other that we can be an encouragement to each other, Father, and we pray that we would always be mindful of our lives as we live for Christ here on this earth, the way we speak, the way we carry ourselves, that those around us, Father, would always see Christ living in us and that we are striving to be obedient to Christ and his word in every way. We pray, dear Father, that you would just watch over us as we travel throughout the day. Bless us all. Safe travels throughout this day.
