Gabby and Samuel follow a trail into the forest and encounter alien creatures. Gabby is revealed to be the queen and she helps deliver Goddess Belaylock's baby. Gabby then retrieves a key that radiates power. The colony members thank Gabby for saving their baby's life. CHAPTER 6 CHALLENGE OF THE FIRST KEY As Samuel and Gabby followed the trail into the forest, her thoughts started to race. She feared whoever this queen was, she would hurt Danielle. It was hard for Gabby to process her five-year-old niece who was immortal, as I would think it would for anybody. Gabby felt responsible for Danielle. She felt like she did not try hard enough to save her. It's not your fault, Gabby. Stop blaming yourself. You did everything you could. You must understand something. You and Danielle both have many gifts, but they can't be used in your world. Only in Ductu and Tibrinus, Samuel explained. Prince Samuel, a fragile voice said as a creature began to approach them with fear, staring at Gabby and trembling. Why did you bring the queen here? Have you betrayed us all? asked the purple creature. The creature was covered in white spots and had piercing crystal blue eyes and fingers with circles at the end, similar to those of an alien. No, Jinko, you know I would never betray you or the colony, said Samuel calmly. He put his hands up because the creature was holding a sphere. Now, as your future king, I demand you put that sphere down. Now hear me out, demanded Samuel. What makes you think I'm some queen anyway? asked Gabby. Well you certainly don't dress like one, another voice came from the wooded area up above a forest. More alien creatures similar to Jinko, about four feet tall, began to approach from out of the forest rubbish. Samuel pulled Jinko to the side. She's the king, not the queen, whispered Samuel. You mean you haven't told her the queen is her? Jinko began to speak. Samuel covered Jinko's mouth as Samuel grinned at Gabby. The other creature circled her and then sniffed her as a group of puppies would. No, but I will, just not right now, I don't think it's a good time, claimed Samuel. Jinko spoke to his group of aliens in a foreign language. Gabby supposed he was telling them to stand down with their spears. Jinko stood in front of Gabby. Gabby dropped onto her knees trying to figure this creature out. Jinko placed his circled fingers on her shoulders. Jinko placed his forehead against Gabby's. A massive wind circled the space between them, torpedoing them around with force. Suddenly Gabby saw images of herself and Danielle at the beach and on many shopping trips, images of her doing all the things that were important to Gabby and Danielle. The images circled Jinko and Gabby in a tornado form with ferocity. Then she saw a memory that opened a totally different door. A small girl with black hair and cold black eyes. Gabby could feel the dark energy surrounding her. The images showed Gabby leaving with her mother. The young girl with long black hair and cold dark eyes was carried by shadows into a dark abyss. The memories faded. Jinko stood tall, well as tall as a four-foot alien could stand. He then spoke in a foreign language with Gabby. What was that? And just so you know, I don't speak Chinese, said Gabby. She was baffled at what just happened. Those, my child, were your memories of the things you cherished, the things that make your heart strong. Your strong soul and the purity it holds makes you the main key, explained Jinko. Um, okay. You and Samuel say that Danielle and I have these special gifts. What are you talking about? What do you mean, said Gabby. Suddenly, a loud piercing scream from the trees above the nest yearned in agony. What the? Gabby started stuttering. She pulled her nine millimeter from her blue-jean butt pocket. It's gotten belay-locked. She's going into labor. Please, Gabriela, you must help her, begged Jinko. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, I'm not a doctor, wailed Gabby. Jinko grabbed her and flew to the highest part of the trees. They flew toward the giant nest where the screaming was coming from. Jinko, along with his colony, was a short purple alien with white spots, but he was mighty and strong and could fly like a flying squirrel. Samuel followed behind, flying upward toward the trees. They discovered the creature was in labor. Goddess Belaylock had a golden face. She had curls of orange on one side of her head and crystal blue hair on the other side. Her hair was parted in the middle. Goddess Belaylock had long antennas with the long yellow stems branching from the circles of the antennas and silver circles in the middle of her circled antennas like Cinnabon circles. She was sweating and in pain. She had vampire-like teeth. Goddess Belaylock began grinding them in pain. She began pulling her hair. Goddess Belaylock was breathing heavily as well. Goddess Belaylock's stomach was lighting up like a firefly from the inside. It streamed a bright purple light. Oh my gosh, she looks like she's in pain, said Gabriela. Oh well, just a little, said Goddess Belaylock sarcastically. I recognize that voice. You were the one who said I didn't dress like a queen either, mocked Gabby. Gabby began walking away. Jinko quickly stopped her. Please, Gabriela, he begged. Gabriela started to tell him how she had to find Danielle. That was first priority to her. She did look at Jinko with empathy. Please, this is our first child. Goddess Belaylock and my child could die, said Jinko feeling helpless. Gabby looked at him with empathy. Go over there then and hold her hand. Tell your colony members I need two large rocks to elevate her leg. Gather some water as well as large amounts of tree sap. Get as much as you can. Samuelet, I need you to position her neck on the edge of the nest so her upper body isn't strained. Grab one of those orange leaves from the trees. Gabby began getting everything organized and situated the best way that she could. They were in a forest, so she really had to work with what she had. Okay, Goddess Belaylock, I'm going to need you to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth for me, said Gabby in a comforting way. What's a nose, asked Goddess Belaylock. Oh, Gabby, in this world we call noses torquels, said Samuelet. He was trying to position Goddess Belaylock's neck to make her more comfortable. Thank you, Prince Samuelet. Goddess Belaylock patted Goddess Belaylock's hand graciously. Of course, dear, said Samuelet with easy eyes. Okay, Goddess Belaylock, I need you to breathe through your torquels and out through your mouth, said Gabby. Goddess Belaylock began to breathe but started screaming as her legs were in a birthing position. Goddess Belaylock began to scream loudly, mostly on purpose, in Gabby's face to annoy her. Gabby frowned, knowing she was getting face screams on purpose. Gabby proceeded to pour sap underneath the large stalks of leaves. Suddenly Goddess Belaylock's stomach began to turn a bright red color. Something's wrong. Oh, God, the pain. Something's wrong. Goddess Belaylock squeezed her husband Jinko's hand, tears in her eyes, and in her heart she feared the worst. The head is stuck. The head is stuck. I'm going to have to turn the baby or it's going to lose oxygen. Goddess, I need you to control your breathing. Breathe slowly if you can. Okay? Ready? Here we go. One, two, three. And turn. Gabby reached inside of Goddess Belaylock's birthing canal and turned the alien fetus as the colors rapidly changed, blurring into green and yellow checkered patterns. It reminded Gabby of the Simon Says game. Gabby trusted her instincts. Gabby gently felt the neck of the slimy, gooey alien baby. She positioned it upward and felt the tiny baby alien fingers grab Gabby's hand from the inside of Goddess Belaylock's birthing canal. Gabby began to tear up and her eyes grew big. Goddess Belaylock, I need you to give me one good push. We're almost there. Okay? Come on. You can do this. On three. Everybody, let's count together. Everybody in the colony. Everybody. Here we go. One, two, three. They all yelled loudly on the last count. Goddess Belaylock pushed out her purple alien baby with large oval black eyes, a large oval head and cute stubby baby fingers and toes. It flew into Gabby's arms along with a thick showering of purple goo. It drenched her from top to bottom. As the baby cried, Gabby handed it over to Jinko. Looks like, uh, well, yeah, afterbirth much? Samuel said, chuckling as he stared at Gabby. They stood in the large nest. Gabby frowned at him. She was covered in goo and trying to clean it off. I'm joking, Gabby. You were amazing. He patted her on the shoulder. Samuel started to shake the goo off of his hand. As Jinko and his wife, Goddess Belaylock, held their newborn, the ground began to rattle once more. Oh, God. Now what? Gabby started to roll her eyes. A stream of lightning flew up from the ground alongside a stream of silver lining, a powerfully winded gathering of flames. The cross between lightning and flame all blended into one big, twisted braid. Gabby stood in front of it, and the sun-shaped circle began to form as the lightning bolt covered it from different directions. Oh, my gosh, Gabby, it's your key! It's the key, yelled Samuel. Gabby turned around for a look of reassurance. She wondered if she should grab the stone-shaped-like sun. It was about as big and round as a softball. It levitated in front of Gabby's eyes. Samuel nodded his head, confirming it was okay. Gabby reached for the key. Gabby began to radiate a yellow luminous glow. The colony members, Goddess Blaylock, Jinko, and Samuel, froze, watching and standing in the oversized wooden nest. Gabby was almost fully covered in purple goo, grabbing her key. Gabby, take in the power of the key. It's your key. It's your key to heroism, said Jinko with confidence. After Gabby collected the key, Goddess Blaylock and Jinko thanked her and Samuel. We honestly can't thank you enough. You saved our baby's life, said Goddess Blaylock. You are always welcome here, even if you don't dress like a queen, she said jokingly. Would you like to hold him, asked Jinko. Uh, sure. I've never held an alien baby before, but right now, I'll believe anything, said Gabby. Goddess gently wrapped her baby in the sparkling silver and gold oversized tree leaves and then handed her to Gabby. Gabby looked down at the baby alien and smiled. The baby smiled back and held Gabby's finger. Gabby almost cried. It reminded her of when she held Danielle for the first time after Gabby's mother had brought Danielle home from the hospital. Gabby only remembered waking up to her mother holding Danielle in a bundle of blankets and Gabby was in her room and the rest was a blur. We have to get going. Any idea where we could find the Blaylock cave? This is your colony, asked Gabby politely. Queen Nos has taken Gabby's niece, explained Samuel. What's a niece, asked Jinko. He was confused as he was not used to the term. No matter, you're quite the distance, but I think I can help, said Goddess Blaylock. Goddess Blaylock barked her newborn and then she whistled, calling for assistance. A sudden rattling noise rumbled the wooded area. An oversized dog that stood taller than the trees came running and slobbering. The oversized German Shepherd, black with caramel spots, happily trailed down the path. He was so big that he stood over the nest a good three or four feet. As Samuel looked up, a huge, long, sticky drop of drool fell from the German Shepherd's mouth. No, no, no, no, no, cried Samuel. The drool fell on top of him like a thick, sticky raindrop. Gabby, the baby, and some of the colony members began to chuckle. Samuel frowned. Goddess Blaylock began to speak to the dog. She adored Niu's smiling, slobbery grin. Niu, down boy, take our friends to Blaylock Cave. Help them find the other two keys before they get to the cave. Goddess Blaylock instructed. The dog lowered its head. He proudly listened and perked up. Niu stuck his chest out and he followed Goddess Blaylock's orders. His oversized blue collar had a golden tag with an orange sun design engraved on the front. Gabby and Samuel climbed on Niu's back and waved their goodbyes to the colony, Jinko, Goddess Blaylock, and their newborn bundle of frog-finger joy. Samuel and Gabby continued their journey to find the second key. Good luck, woman warrior, said Goddess Blaylock in her foreign language to herself. Gabby stared into the distance as they moved forward onto the next journey.
