The Kokomo Narrative is a podcast where the hosts discuss various topics. In this episode, they debate whether fried chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, or baked macaroni and cheese are overrated, underrated, or fairly rated. They also talk about recent events on campus, such as a tornado warning, coffee day, and a trip to the ballet. They mention upcoming events, including a DIY plant terrarium workshop and a lead planning meeting for women in business. They also discuss sports, including baseball and track, and promote their social media pages. Hello, my fellow Cougs. It's SnacksRogers here. I'm with Hayden Turner and Tanner Gibson on the second official episode of the Kokomo Narrative. We're back for a second episode. We're hoping to get a mic in soon. I want to start with some questions. What's up? Fairly rated, overrated, underrated. Wait, wait, wait. It's fairly rated, overrated, underrated of these three items. Okay, what are the three items? Fried chicken. Fried chicken. Spaghetti and meatballs. Oh, okay. And baked macaroni and cheese. Baked macaroni and cheese is so underrated. Overrated. I'm going with spaghetti. You think spaghetti's overrated? Spaghetti's disgusting. You've never been poor. Okay. Well, spaghetti sucks. In general. I don't like the taste of tomato paste. Well, you're weird. It's iconic. Overrated spaghetti. Underrated is old enough. Underrated. Baked mac and cheese. Baked mac and cheese is definitely underrated. Fried chicken is pretty hyped up as it is. Fried chicken is pretty popular. If I look at anybody, it's like, you're just going to eat fried chicken. Because it's the best food out of the options. It is properly rated. But definitely mac and cheese, the baked mac and cheese. I think baked mac and cheese is properly rated. I feel like it's properly rated. You think it's properly rated? I think people understand it. People like baked mac and cheese. I don't think enough people are just going around saying, you want to come to my place? I think that's what I'm saying. None of the people make it. I think macaroni, I think that macaroni, I think spaghetti is underrated. Underrated? I think spaghetti is. There's never a time of day I'm like, oh, I want some spaghetti. Actually, me yesterday, I had two bowls of spaghetti because I was craving it. Two whole bowls? Two whole bowls. Six meatballs. That's too much. That's too many bowls. There's never enough spaghetti. It's good, man. Okay. But on track, we're going to talk about current events. Some of the events that we saw happen this week that was awesome, super fun. One, Snacks was really into. The DIY essential oil rollers. Actually, the only thing that kept me awake that day, I didn't get any sleep that day, so I just kept sniffing it. It was a lot of peppermint. But also, one quick thing is on Monday, that same day, we did have a tornado drill, not drill, a tornado warning, which I think RUK always does a good job of making sure everybody gets to the right place at the right time. Nobody was injured. It was hot. It was hot. It was steaming. Thankfully, nobody here was injured or hurt, so props to them for that. Career Services did Coffee Day again, and make sure you guys are going out to that because nine times out of ten, you're going to get some free coffee. Who doesn't love anything free? The Hispanic Center went to the ballet. That was fun. I, sadly, am not going to attend to that. Yeah, neither did I. Actually, there was the men's basketball, what, RSC championship that day as well. That was a game and a half to watch, but we'll talk about that one later. On February 28th, Women in Business actually hosted a Taco Tuesday, and people just went out to Hacienda and watched, not watched, they ate tacos. I don't know why you'd watch The Relaxation Station happened on Wednesday, and did you guys attend the Relaxation Station? I did not, actually. I was sick. I was there. I did it. They had the massage chairs. Massage chairs, the O2, like the, whatever, what is it called, the breathing? It's the oxygen bars. We also had the SGA Bi-Weekly meeting, another amazing meeting. Definitely come out to it. We do it every other week. Kind of tying into SGA, we had some volunteer opportunities for all students. We had one where you can volunteer with the Humane Society. We have posters and flyers coming out with a QR code that will take you right to that, and we have an upcoming event with Urban Outreach that we will get more details out to the students this week. But yeah, look out for those. Those are free volunteer opportunities. Everybody can use the volunteer hours. If it looks really good on your resume, they can get you a lot more, so just look out for those. And then we also have elections coming up here soon. I'm not going to say the date because I don't really know for sure when that is coming out, but we will be giving you guys all the information whenever it happens, and make sure you guys go vote because your voice does matter for this campus especially. And let's get into what is to come this week. First of all, something that looks super cool is on Tuesday, March 7th, at 10 a.m., we're going to be having a DIY plant terrarium. Can either of you tell me what a plant terrarium is right now? You're making your own little space inside of this little ball. If you bought your turtle, it would stay there. Don't bring the turtle in. If you have turtles at home, come make a plant terrarium. If you own a turtle, snacks or objects more personally, we love you forever. And you're obsessed. I'm not. And then also on Tuesday, they're having a lead planning meeting for women in business at 5.30 p.m. What else have we got here? Also, we've got a lot of things going on on Tuesday. March 7th, that is Tuesday, at 11.40 a.m., there's going to be a call-out meeting for the Education Student Advisory Council. So you're making the teaching more of your education major. I believe we have a baseball game on Tuesday as well. Yes, we do. At 5 p.m., there's a baseball game. And there's a few baseball games coming up actually. We have one on Friday and Saturday as well. And we have actually two on Saturday. So how about support your baseball? They're doing well this year. And I'm excited to see what else they have to bring to the table. I'll say, get moving more into the season. But other than that, let's dive into a little bit of the sports. So this past weekend, we had four home baseball games, two on Saturday and two on Sunday. I actually attended the one on Sunday night at 6 p.m. I did not have time to attend. I attended one that was on Saturday. That was a very good game from what I saw. I'm excited to see where it is. I'm excited to have more students there. I would really like to build a better student section out there. The baseball team deserves a student section. They played very well on Sunday night. Took a dub. So pop out whenever you have the chance. Whenever it's a home game, come show your support because they really played well. And incoming update from track, Laney Polcott just broke the race walking record. Absolutely. She came in about five minutes ago. So we're happy for her. We're rooting for all of our track athletes that are in nationals right now. We're really hoping to see some results from them shortly. Race walking is not easy. It is not easy. At first, I was like, oh, I'm going to do it. I did three laps and I was dead. Yeah, it burns your calves. I tried three laps. It was horrific. The form as it is, they are very, very intense on watching your form. Yeah, they like wheel on the ground and watch you as you walk by. You get like three. You get three strikes. Three strikes is actually insane. Three strikes and then you're disqualified. It doesn't matter how far you've been walking for. I think track is one of those underrated sports where you don't realize how much work really goes into track. Tanner Gibson, big track athlete, placed what at conference? I was eight, so top eight. Top eight in conference as a freshman. What is your PR for the 100 meter? PR for the 60, it's 6.93 and then for the 100 meter, it's 10.89. It's a heavy, hard sport. I did shot put for a little bit and it was very grueling. The training for that is very hard. It ruins your body. Respect for all those athletes, for really all of our sports that we offer. I'm all of my team feeling 50. It's rough. Yeah, you don't get that time back, huh? I don't. Man, your knee is already bad as this. Yeah, I don't need any more. It does a number to you. I'm not taking any more body hurting. I hit gym this week pretty good. I was able to do 15 by 15. There you go. I'm going to keep going up. You got a fitness page you're doing, right? Yeah, follow at Snacks Gym. It's very simple. I actually just hit gym pretty often. Catch me in the CFC. I would like to see more people in the CFC. I would love to see as many people as we can down there. Come hit gym. It's too dead. Sports are going well right now. IUK has had a great year in sports this year. Basketball is rolling into the movement right now. Yeah, basketball just got the bid for nationals. They play Kansas Wesleyan. All of Kansas. That's about a 10 hour drive. They're going to go down there and catch the win. You'll be able to watch it live. We'll get a link out there to all of those students. We've got to support our Cougars. It's nationals. I know last year we streamed it on the IQ wall. So we can try and stream some of the games on the IQ wall. Speaking of Instagram pages, we are actually making one for the Kokomo narrative. If you're around campus and you see us walking around with a microphone, don't be shy to come answer some questions. Talk to us for a little bit. We come up to you. We also have an IUK TikTok page where people go around and interview students. So if you see me coming at you in the hallway with a microphone, do not be afraid. Actually, you should turn around and run. As fast as you possibly can. If Max has a microphone and he's coming to you, you should run as fast as humanly possible. I am very nice and I'm very approachable. I need to see people in the hallway just running. Just sprinting away. Just like Scooby Doo chasing. If you run and I catch you, it's not fair. So just be ready for that. If you go and search IUK on TikTok, it's kind of popping right now. And after this release, we'll have the Kokomo narrative page up. So go give that a follow. We're just really excited to kind of get more professional. Hopefully getting a mic approved here. It was approved. They should be ordering it here soon. Yeah, we want to know your guys' opinions. I know we posted on YouTube and we're going to continue to post on YouTube for a while now until we can officially get it set up for Spotify and all that. But leave some comments. Tell us what you'd like to see and what you'd like to hear. If it's video, tell us you want to see video. If you'd rather just stick to what you're currently looking at. I think 99% of people would want a video. It's a little bland. It was a great drawing. But you're going to look at it for so long. I'm excited for you guys to see video so you can watch Snacks continuously show me memes. This is not happening actually. I would like to step in. That's it for the second episode. There's no more things and I'm playing the outro music. That's it.
