There are various ways in which the listener is actively engaging with the speaker while practicing active listening. Active listening is a powerful tool that can be used to improve communication and understanding between people. When someone actively listens to another person, they are actively paying attention to the speaker and their words, showing that they are interested in what is being said and that they are taking the time to understand the message. Take an example, when a close friend is confiding in you, it is very important to practice active listening. This means focusing on what they are saying and really taking in their words. Just a few weeks ago, I practiced focusing on what my daughter says to me while taking in her words. I asked her questions, showed interest, and didn't interrupt her while she was answering the questions. I have quickly realized that she now opens up more easily and is very enthusiastic when she shares anything with me. This has helped us to strengthen our bond as mother and daughter, and I have personally experienced the power of active listening in my other relationships. When I make an effort to truly listen to what my daughter and family are saying, I feel more connected to them. I also feel more empowered as I am able to understand their perspective and respond in a meaningful way. In conclusion, take time to actively listen to those around you.
