Arachne
Arachne

"Arachne" is a novel by Georg Ebers set in ancient Egypt. The story follows Ledscha, a woman who has lost her betrothed and all hope of love. However, the gods have other plans for her. She falls in love with a Greek sculptor who only wanted her as a model. But her hopes are dashed again when she is replaced by another woman for the statue of Arachne. The novel explores whether Ledscha will end up with the Greek sculptor or someone else, as seen by the gods. This was Ebers' final work in German before he passed away in 1898. He wrote many other novels set in ancient Egypt, which generated widespread interest among readers."
