Have you guys seen the Mean Girls musical? I have not. I've seen it on TikTok. I feel like I've seen the whole thing because I've seen it on TikTok. Well I liked the musical before anyway. I used to listen to it all the time because I like musicals. Yeah I've never seen the musical because it just seemed like the movie to me. Yeah but I'm sorry but it does look awful. The stage musical was really good but then I don't know if it's the casting or the direction or what but everything... I don't know. Some people seem to really like it but everything just seems a bit off. The acting seems off. The only good choice was getting Renee Rapp because she was actually good in it. I think people forget how much fashion actually adds to a film as well. Yeah it's like all the shoes and clothes don't look good. The clothes don't look good. Regina George wouldn't dress like that. Yeah and I think this has proven how important fashion is in films. Like costumes. They just made so many weird music choices as well. So many of the songs just sound awful but in the original musical they sound good. But people are saying that it's because the actress they chose for Cady can't sing. So that's why they had to change it. All the songs that I've heard, she doesn't really sound like a musical theatre singer. I just think it was unnecessary. People have been saying that Elf product placement is really bad. Yeah I've heard that. I haven't seen any of the actual Elf stuff in the film. Yeah I haven't either but I'm assuming it's bad. Probably as bad. Yeah because the whole film is. Yeah I think they are definitely pushing for Renee Rapp to get really famous from this film. I've seen no interviews of the actress who plays Cady. Renee Rapp has suddenly come out and she's everywhere now. She is great though. People keep saying how much she just doesn't care what she says in interviews. But then people have been comparing it to Rachel Zegler being like, why do we all hate on Rachel Zegler but Renee Rapp is allowed to say anything she wants to. I'm a Rachel Zegler fan. From the start I was like, what is she doing that's so bad? People were on her for saying bad things about the original Snow White movie. And then I was thinking about it and I was watching the original Snow White and I was like, this is kind of fair enough. It is weird. Yeah it is so weird. She's a fair point. Disney adults are just really rough. Yeah you can't mess with their classics. Especially Disney adults, oh my god. If you come for Disney, Disney adults will come for you. I saw someone being like, that's why Rachel Zegler got hate because of the audiences. The audiences for Mean Girls musical is mainly young people. It's not like people are saying that she needs to be appreciative of the role she's been given. But that's such a ridiculous point to make. She was. There were so many videos of her being like, oh I'm so excited to play this role. She just was saying that it's a weird movie. People were reaching. You're allowed to have feminist ideas in 2024. You're allowed to speak about it. Internet just hates her. I've seen loads of TikToks saying that if you don't like the Mean Girls movie, it's just anti-feminist. You're allowed to think it was bad. That could have been a good movie because the musical itself is good. They had the opportunity. They had so much potential. But I don't know why they were going with it. It's not anti-feminist when something is actually just bad. If people were expecting the Mean Girls movie, they weren't getting that. But if they were expecting the stage musical, they weren't getting that either. It's just a weird push to get some kind of movie out. Speaking of movies, should we talk about the Oscars? Yeah. Probably Barbie in particular. You're getting a lot of controversy. As soon as I watched Barbie, and I was going on social media, the first thing I saw people talk about was Ken. The Ken song was the number one thing trending. The whole idea of the movie was just going over people's heads. I've been thinking this for ages. I was like, why is Ken getting all the praise? So many women posting, oh my god, I love Ken, Ken this. That's not the point of the film. Loads of men would ride or die for Ken. And the amount of men that got Ken t-shirts and stuff. I just feel like when you put so much emphasis on Ken, that's not the point of the film. Didn't Ken get nominated? Well, Ryan Gosling got nominated for Best Actress. He is Ken. He actually is Ken. But you know what? America, who was in the film as well, she's been nominated for Best Supporting Actress. But nobody's actually happy about it, because they're all moaning that Margot Robbie didn't get nominated. I thought America's character was better than Margot Robbie in the film. Oh yeah, and also Best Actress is a much bigger category, and that's what Margot would have had to have been nominated for. Also, people are mad that Greg Irwood didn't get nominated for Best Director. But I don't think Barbie should have been nominated for anything. It's like it was the best movie ever. I think Best Costuming, stuff like that. But as a film, it was not really Oscar worthy. Best Song, it was nominated for two for Best Song. It was more the insult of only nominating, or just Ken being nominated for Best Actor, when it was a feminist film. Yeah, that's what really annoyed me, I think. I think his acting was better. Yeah, it was better, but it's just the principle of only him being nominated. Yeah, I agree with you guys. I don't think it should have been nominated for anything. Because, yeah, no. Greg Irwood is a good director, but there were better films. When looking at it from a director's point of view, it wasn't a bad thing. It was a back and forth when they were from the real world. It was a good film, but it wasn't revolutionary for feminism. And also, if you're putting it in terms of Best Film of the Year, at the time, it was just a fun summer movie. People weren't talking about it for ages. It was more the promotion for it that people were talking about. I think it should win Best Song, though. I think it will win Best Song. But I think it should win for Billie Eilish's song, not for I'm Just Ken. Although I'm Just Ken is a good song. It's not award winning. People loved it. She deserves the Oscar, though. Yeah. And then I saw people being like, I saw a TikTok of some girl being like, oh, people need to be wary of her because she got all this attention when she was a child. And apparently she was really well loved in prison as well because she got so much attention in prison. And now she's out of prison and she's getting so much attention. People want her to be on TV and stuff. So it's like, how does a person handle that? She's the dope for fame, clearly. She doesn't know how to handle fame. You've seen her interviews. She seems media trained, but she's not. It's really weird. Yeah, it's so weird. Very interesting girl. I don't really understand why she would want all of this limelight when she's had such a hard life. Why is she trying to get all this attention? Which is why I'm like, should we be wary of her? Yeah, because people are like, why are we putting all this attention on her? The way that people treat her like she's any celebrity, like her mother. People don't have to go and like, judge her. We live in such a dystopian society. We can't just let somebody be a person. We have to treat them like they're above us. We should just let her go back to her normal life and try and, you know, live as long as possible. That's the thing with social media and TikTok and stuff. It's so easy for someone to become this big figure in your life when they're really just another person. She's so romanticised. She is quite romanticised. But it's not like a black and white situation. Obviously she was a victim. People need to accept that they actually just don't know the whole situation. Treat someone like a celebrity for it. Yeah, I don't know why we're treating her like a celebrity. Or like spam her. Or like edit some of her. People did go a bit wild when she first got out. But now it's nearly time to leave it. Yeah. I think everyone needs to just let her be and let her live her life and figure it out. She can find her happiness. But I feel like she doesn't want that. She wants to be famous. You think everyone's got passes and pro-ano. I literally feel regret. Because the amount of trends that TikTok women What was that one? Legging legs. Legging legs are so ridiculous. It's like when you put on leggings and you have the thigh gap. Yeah, it's like the straight kind of leg look. It's all like odd. And TikTok calls it legging legs. Or like they have padded top arms. I have none of those things. I have none of those things. It's so ridiculous. I don't wear leggings. I thought it was ridiculous anyway, but I thought we progressed out of wearing leggings. The real mob wives are getting really annoyed. They're making videos clapping back. I saw one earlier that was like, it's appropriating Italian culture. People aren't wearing it exclusively because they're following a trend. This winter, apparently, the sale of fur coats has gone up by 30%. For me, maybe it is. Fur has always been a thing. It might have gone up this winter just because of TikTok. All these trends look similar though. It has been a thing. Mob wives just looks like the rockstar girlfriend trend. People just say it's literally all the same thing. It might be romanticizing mob wives. People just want to have a quirk or a unique thing. I'm wearing a mob wife outfit. No, you're not. I think I'm kind of over rom-coms though. I love rom-coms. I love rom-coms, but I just love the ones that I know. Yeah, the modern ones don't do it for me. I'm over the Netflix rom-coms where they just bring back Jacob Elordi, the kissing boo. I have box office movies where they just back the boo. Jacob Elordi slays in the kissing boo. No, no, don't forget Wayne. Of course he's in the kissing boo. He's trying to be a serious actor now. He's got to renounce it because, let's be real, the kissing boo. He was good in Saltburn. Yeah, Saltburn is his. He was good in Saltburn, really good. And Barracuda. I think that was his on the Keoghan. Keoghan was really good as well. Saltburn's a modern classic. Yeah. Just one for the book. You don't see a movie like that every day. Yeah. Have any of you seen Priscilla? I've seen Cliff. I didn't even know if it was out until recently. But I've seen a lot on TikTok. Sofia Coppola's such a good director. I know, I know. I've seen mixed reviews for Priscilla as well. Really? I don't know. I feel like it's been quite underwhelming. Not a lot of people have said much about it. I feel like Saltburn took... People love him so much. Yeah, that is a bit annoying that they both knew at the same time. But I think Priscilla's good. But that has had a lot of controversy as well. Because Elvis fans are like... Yeah, the Elvis fans. You are fans. Get a life. Get a life. Come on. Surely you know Elvis wasn't a good actor. It's a true story. I've seen some sad bits. Obviously she was so young. At the end of the day, he literally got with her a 14 year old. When he was 27. Pretty vile behaviour. Come on. You can't really defend that. Elvis wasn't that great. He lied to her. He made her change everything about her. So I don't get Elvis fans. But you can still like someone's music. And understand that they were not that great. What I do find funny is... Jacob had already... Alec only saw Elvis in... What TV show was it? Disney. It was his reference. It was Austin Butler. I never watched the Austin Butler one. But I saw a TikTok about a girl being like... They made him say that on purpose. Because obviously they're portraying Elvis in a negative way. So they wanted to separate Jacob from the character. Whereas Austin Butler was portraying him in a positive way. So it was like... It's fine. It's just a funny idea. Jacob didn't care. I hope it's true. Because that's hilarious. I do find it funny when actors take their role too seriously. Come on. You don't need to be doing that. You don't need to be doing that. It's a job. It's not a life. To them, it's a life. Method acting is a joke. I'm sorry. I mean, it works in some cases. But the Austin Butler thing... Give up the accent. Yeah, like you're still talking in Elvis' accent. How did Sven get his own voice? I don't know. He needs to just get another role. Another job. So he can method act. Method act his life into that. Oh yeah. Yeah. I don't care about Austin Butler. Even though I don't like what he's saying. But Hannah wants to have a girl. I don't care. Because she was like... When COVID happened. Some people are going to die. It's so random. It's random. I did laugh even though it was bad. I did laugh. I would chuckle a little bit. But I was like, girl. She's so detached. It was a very empty headed thing to say. She's losing her communicable money. Still doing her wellness. Disney people are always a bit weird though. If you're raised in the Disney world, I guess you turn out just a bit weird. Yeah. There's loads of biopics coming out at the minute though. Like the Amy Winehouse one. Yeah, the trailer for the Amy Winehouse one. I do want to see it. I want to see it. I just love Amy so much. But the actor just... I don't know who portrays Amy. I don't know who the actor is, but I don't think she looks like her. I think it's kind of hard to recreate Amy's look. That's who I'm watching it for. That's who I'm watching it for. That's why the girls are watching it. I'm watching it because I do love Amy Winehouse. Obviously. I don't know if it's going to be a flop. I just hope they do it respectfully. Is her dad part of this? Because this is just another cash cow for him as it is. Her dad is awful. I don't know if her dad's part of it. I hope it's not a flop, but I guess we'll see. Are they a good or a bad thing? Should we just leave celebrities alone and stop making films about them? Can they just rest in peace without people to raise them for their life? People have just died tragic deaths so let's make a movie about them. That's an interesting movie to watch. The story of their tragic life. We already get so much hate even now after her death. It's going to bring up more conversation from people. I feel like she should be left as the icon that she was. People loved her at the time and still love her now. I feel like she's suddenly getting a lot of spotlight from a big movie coming out. It's going to change the way people look at her. It might be a good film though. It might be a positive thing. I don't think it's been out for sure. Much maybe? I don't know. I'll see it. I'll definitely see it. We're going to go see it. We're going to pay to see it. I don't pay to see anything. No. I don't sneak in. There's definitely no pirate movie either. No. You wouldn't steal a car. You wouldn't steal a bike. I'm bad. I don't know whether to wait until it comes out on Amazon or something. It's coming out in May. I wish I saw Soulbinder in the cinema. Oh god. I watched it three times when it came out. You watched it three times? My mum asked if she wanted to watch it with me and I was like, no, I don't think we should. It's not really a watch with the parents type of film. That's good to hear that Amy Winehouse filmed it. I want to see Wicked when it comes out. I do actually want to see Wicked. I'm a kid. I'm a musical theatre girl. I do love musical theatre. I don't think Ariana Grande is going to be good at it though. Come on. She's not Ariana Grande. She doesn't announce it when she sings, bro. How can you be in a musical? Which is weird because she was a musical theatre girl and then she changed her style. She can't make a decision. I wish they would show it to me. I think when they make movie musicals they should stop taking roles from people who are actually on Broadway and giving them to random pop stars like they didn't mean to. Renee Rapp is the only one who's actually been in the musical. Just because people are famous doesn't mean they're going to be better. You know Sabrina Carpenter was on the stage version so people were like, why didn't they hire Sabrina Carpenter to be Cady? Yeah. I think that was because she was too busy. Yeah, she was too busy. I haven't even heard a single Sabrina Carpenter song in my life. No, everyone seems to love it. I don't really know any of her songs. She's touring a lot. She seems to be up and coming.
