Non-Indigenous people should show respect and avoid racism to reconcile with Indigenous people. It is important to learn about the struggles caused by colonization and avoid making inappropriate jokes. Cultural appreciation should not involve offensive Indigenous costumes. How non-Indigenous people can reconcile is to be respectful to Indigenous people and not be racist, but that's just basic human decency. Some more complex ways to reconcile is to learn all the things that colonizers put us through and not make overused or bad jokes about it. Also, to not wear offensive Indigenous costumes and call it cultural appreciation, even though it's not, and it's stupid, ignorant, and dumb.
