Two members of the True 50 boys discuss their podcast and clothing line. They talk about how the podcast is a new creative outlet for them after doing music for years. They also discuss the inspiration behind their clothing line, Gum Gang, and how it started as a joke but grew into a successful venture. They give advice for starting a business and overcoming fear of failure. They express their goals for the next five years, hoping to work for themselves and continue growing their podcast and clothing line. They also mention their desire to have guests on their podcast, including local small business owners and even Outkast. They talk about the challenges they faced with their clothing line in the past and how they wouldn't change anything because they learned valuable lessons from it. Finally, they discuss the importance of supporting each other and helping others succeed. Hello, hello, hello! What's up, people? You're here with two of the True 50 boys. Uh, like, before we're gonna drop off an interview with Young Bean. What's happening? So, the mastermind, the wizard behind the curtain, what made you want to start doing a podcast? Well, you know, I did music for years. So, like, the recording is in me. And I don't really think I want to record music anymore, but I love to record. So, the next best thing would be a podcast. And who wouldn't want to do recording with your friends, you know, cut up, do like you normally do? That's what's up, that's what's up. Now, when you said you used to do music, that leads into my second question. Do you think that's a part of you that you left behind, or is it something that you're going to dabble in in the future? Well, like, if it came up, like, if somebody said, let's do a song, I'd definitely do a song. Like, it's not left behind, it's just as I grow older, like, music is not, like, so much of a priority to me. Like, I listen to a lot of music, but me doing music is not, it used to be like a priority. Like, I used to always want to just do music, record music. But now that I got older, it's like, I still listen to music, but it's not such a priority in my life anymore. So, this is the second best thing for me. All right. This leads into another question, and kind of a shout out. Now, where did you come up with the idea of the clothing line of Gum Gang? Man. Just, we sit around, you know. And don't forget to drop the Instagram and all that business. We sit around, man, one day we just sit around bullshitting, you know. Like, I always joked about, like, how people always grin when, like, their mouth look horrible, like, no teeth. And, like, every time, like, I see it, I'm like, man, this is crazy, you know. And one day, I just came up with the idea. And sitting around, I was like, man, I'll do some Gum Gang shit. It started out just being a joke, but now it's grown. Like, it's grown like crazy. And other than that, like, the first design was kind of basic, you know. It's just a little basic design. And then we went to the second Gum Gang design, which is a little bit more in depth or whatever. But now it's just wild. We got mascots and everything. So that's where that basically came from, just sitting around bullshitting, taking an idea and turning it into reality. All right. Now, this isn't a question. This is just like a tip hotline real quick. If you have any inspiration or anything to tell anybody that's looking to start their own business or get their foot out there to do whatever, what's the first thing you would tell them to do? Get over your fear. Because fear is the thing to hold you back. You got to get over that fear of failure. If you fail, you just dust yourself off and try again. That's all you can do, man. I mean, everybody fails at something. Not everybody's great at everything. So if you fail, you just dust yourself off and try again. And that's the first step. You have to get over your fear. And after your fear, then you start, you know, getting everything lined up to become reality. All right. All right. Now we're going into the business side of the interview. Where do you see yourself, young man, in the next five years? Next five years? Hopefully working for myself. And we doing this permanently. We getting paid to do this right here. Talk shit on the microphone. Sell clothing. You know, next five years, sky's the limit. We already got a base set. We already got the concrete. We just need to start building. We got the foundation. All right. I like to think we got a strong foundation. Oh, yeah. And now that leads into the next one. Where do you see this going? This podcast? Yes. Do you see any future endeavors to branch out in? I'm telling you, man, sky's the limit with this. As long as we stay focused. Like, that's the whole thing. Anybody can start anything. But a lot of times people start stuff and then it falls apart because they lose focus. We have to stay focused as a group. As long as we stay focused, we can hold on and make everything build from ground up. Like, you can't move too fast. I know people are like, y'all need to put out some episodes. Yeah, we do. But we have to build the ground up for the episodes. Because if we just start throwing out episodes, that's not going to cut it. You know, you got to build your foundation up. And then you'll be able to roll. All right. Now, you asked me a similar question. If you could have anybody on a 350 Boys podcast, who would it be? Right now, locally? Yeah. I'd definitely throw Rob out there. For y'all that don't know, Rob does all the printing for Gum Gang. And he has his own business, Local Legends Printing. Look him up on Instagram, Facebook. And I'd definitely have him on there because he has a story to tell, like how he got started. And what he started with is inspiration to anybody. Like, if you listen to the way he got started in his story, it's inspiration to anybody. So I'd definitely have him on there. And then, to be honest, anybody with a small business, if they want to come on here and get interviewed and we support and we put their business out there, I have no problem with that. I mean, you got to start somewhere, you know. And if I can help somebody get their feet through the door, then I'm there for them, you know, especially small business-wise. All right. Now, not just locally, but anybody, who's your next pick? To be honest, well, like you said in your interview, like it's kind of hard to get somebody to come through and just be, you know, real with us. Yeah. Because of all the guidelines and stuff, whatever. But if I had to choose somebody, I would probably do somebody like old-school rap. I'd like to have outcasts on this, just to listen to their story. Because, you know, they started out in the back of their trunk, and then they worked their way up, you know. So, I mean, just anybody with a story that can inspire somebody else to do what they wanted to do. I like that. I like that. You know, Taylor Swift. I'll book it. All right, all right, all right. All joking aside, let's keep the business suits on. Yeah, we got to. You know. You have tried the clothing lineup before in the past, if I'm not mistaken. Right, yeah. If you could go back and redo it with the knowledge you have today, what's one thing that you would have changed? Nothing. Nothing? Nothing. Nothing, all right. I'll tell you what. Me and my boy, like, I learned a lot from him. He taught me a lot, man. And me and him are still boys to this day. But I would change nothing, because what me and him was doing, you learn that people are not, like, me and him both said this. People that we thought was our friends was not our friends. You know, because they didn't, you got people that always want something for free. They don't want to support you. They want you to give them something, and that's not support. You know what I'm saying? Like, not everything you can just hand that. And through that, I learned a lot, you know. And me and him still talk about it to this day. We learned a lot. So I would change nothing, because if I did, I wouldn't be where I'm at now. You know, I wouldn't have the knowledge and the stuff I do now. So no, I wouldn't change anything about it. All right, all right, all right. Okay, okay, okay. The last question, pretty much, I have lined up in my head, because I got all the important, like, you know, this is what I wanted on there. I want to ask you one final question, and I want your solid opinion, your solid answer. All right, now, this is going to be a hard-hitting one. Are you ready for it? Yeah, let's do it. All right. Is the hokey pokey really what it's all about? Well, you know, to be honest, unless you try the hokey pokey, you don't know. And out here in this world, you're either hokey pokey or you don't, you know. And a lot of not hokey pokey is living with a lot of doubt and living with a lot of what ifs. So that's a lot of people's problem. They live with a lot of doubt and a lot of what ifs. What if I would have did this, or why shouldn't I do this? You got to get out there and do it. You got to fucking put your left foot, your right foot, your body. You got to shake that shit all about. Like I said before, if you fail, get back up, dust off, fucking start dancing again. That's the way I look at it, man. It is what it is at the end of the day. Yeah. True facts have never been told. Yeah, man, I think this right here, this could be a solid foundation, no joke. I mean, and anybody that's starting a business or whatever, say like they're local, holler at us. We'll interview you. We'll put you on. Oh, yeah. You know what I mean? This is, I mean, you got to help out other people to get where you want to go. And so if you got a small business or whatever, and you want to get on here, you want to interview, we'll put you out there. It is what it is at the end of the day. We got to help each other. That's all I got to say about that. Good shit. Anything else? Honestly, man, you ran through the questions I had. But I think now moving forward, we'll have a couple more interviews. Mm-hmm. We got that planned up. Yeah. I think we're actually going to cut an episode on Saturday, so. No, that's even better. We got Eric lined up from Smith's Creation, so that'll be pretty good. But I appreciate the interview money. Shit, no problem, man. No problem, man. We out of here. I'm going to record this and get this knocked out. We out of here, man. $3.50, boys. Do you, boo-boo.
