The host of the THV podcast talks about Keyshawn Nixon, a special teams player for the Green Bay Packers. Nixon was previously with the Oakland Raiders and signed with the Packers in 2022. He had a successful season, becoming the leading kick returner in the NFL and making the all-pro team. The host believes the Packers should re-sign Nixon because of his impact on special teams. Nixon is currently an unrestricted free agent with a market price of around $7 million. I'm your host Tony and today we'll be talking about Keyshawn Nixon One of our best special teams guy in this year The reason why I want to talk about him because he was something special for us in defense or in special teams He's a guy that we've been looking for because last season Our special team was bad and they were ranked 31st Really bad and this year the Packers and special teams are ranked a little bit more better than last year Which is great for us So in case you guys don't know who Keyshawn Nixon is. Keyshawn Nixon was pretty much our best guy Before he came to the Packers. He was he did play for the Oakland Raiders for three years back in 2019 to 2021 and after that he then signed with the Green Bay Packers and To go back to his bio or his history Nixon signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent on April 27 in 2019 He made his first NFL debut on September 9th 2019 against the Denver Broncos Nixon finished his rookie season with 12 tackles, one pass defended and three kickoffs returned for 63 yards and 14 games played. Now on September 2nd in 2021 Nixon was also placed on injury reserve and he was active in October 9th. So technically, you know, he did well in 2021 He just kinda got hurt and you know, it was hard for him to get back in the field. The Raiders decided to hey, you know Maybe You're not that guy for us. We're gonna just gonna let you go to free agency and See how things go for you and after that with the Green Bay Packers, you know, Nixon signed with the Green Bay Packers on March 26th in 2022 On September 25th in 2022 and it's like a game on the active rock star for the Packers Nixon recorded seven combined tackles and one forced fumble in week three, victory over the Tampa Bay Bucs I do not remember that game. I Remember that game, but I don't remember him making the play if I go back and watch like if I go back and watch that Game, maybe okay. That's always shooting it. That's in Keshia Nixon, which is crazy and Just keep going more Through Nixon's solid defenses throughout in 2022 season the Packers began to utilize him more as a return specialist in October And beginning in October 16 during week 6 the loss against the New York Jets Nixon returned at 35 kickoffs for 1,009 Yards, which is amazing Wow, and the only player in the NFL to record more than 1,000 yards that year That's crazy. The only player in the NFL to record more than 1,000 yards that year which is amazing and Then on January 1st in 2023 Nixon returned a kickoff of 105 yards for the office first NFL Career touchdown against a Minnesota Vikings. Oh my gosh. You guys don't know how amazing the game was I was watching the game with my in-laws and He made that kicker to touchdown. It was amazing. Like his cuts were smooth He was there everything was there for him to do that was like, oh my lord And when I'm doing that that that gives the Packers the momentum and they won the game That's 41 to 17 just like yes now So and after that, you know he was there the NSE special teams play of that week of his of his performance and He finished the season as an NFL leading kick returner returner and was the first team member of the 22 to all pro team in that position And we're just crazy. He received 44 out of 51st place votes Amazing and a lot of Packer fans are asking is is Keisha Nixon gonna be the next as I'm Howard and my friend Jolie shout out to Jolie out there he told me that hey, don't you know, don't ever compare a undrafted guy to a Hall of Famer Because in that case, it's like you're you're saying that Keisha Nixon is better than Desmond Howard If possibility, yes, it could be but I'm just saying as it now it just no he's not he's not better to Desmond Howard He's not a hollow femur like Desmond Howard. Don't do that. Don't do that You know Keisha Nixon can do now is just playing games and win games with us. And that's all And also we only sent him for a one-year contract meaning that now he is the unrestricted free agent Meaning that he can go anywhere Where he wants to go according to ESPN he is his market price is about 7 million Which is not too bad compared to most corners or compared to most players out there who has it for more? and it was why I would I would definitely bring him back is because of The way how he impacts special teams the way how he can make it magic happen Just by getting the ball to his hands, you know, I mean so Am I saying they let Analyzer go and sign Keisha Nixon. Yes. I am saying that for sure. Yeah, I would do and my best Opportunity or my best, you know The best I can to get him to stay if he wants to have a million I will give it 7 million and like I said Special team is hard to find and when you have that guy for your special teams Keep that guy You know, and that's the reason why the Packers during 1996 That's usually why that special team was amazing for the Packers and the reason why they won the Super Bowl So if you give Keisha Nixon opportunity to come play Again, just imagine if he is able to do that for us, you know Like but like I said, I'm not saying that he's another Dustin Howard I'm just saying that he has the mobility and the ability to make those amazing plays for us and Us Packer fans.
