Aston Villa has been successful against smaller teams in the Premier League under Unai Emery. They have moved up from 16th to 11th place in just three weeks. Despite a recent defeat, Emery believes they are going in the right direction. Aston Villa is planning to expand Villa Park to over 50,000 seats, with improvements to the stadium and surrounding areas. They aim to increase revenue and compete at a higher level. I think I'm a special one. Welcome to Asanvila Weekly. We talk to you weekly about Asanvila's advances in the Premier League, fixtures, results and new transfer news. This podcast is brought to you by Kazoo. This episode will be about Asanvila's great record against smaller teams in the Premier League. Under Unai Emery, we've been able to get assured wins against teams like Southampton. Other than that, Asanvila's plans to expand Villapark are going very smoothly. Unai Emery has been giving Asanvila guaranteed wins against smaller teams such as Southampton, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United. The team is ecstatic at their frequent wins in the Premier League. Emery's tactics have been ensuring us three points every few weeks. We have went from 16th place in the Premier League to 11th in about three weeks with Unai Emery. The following clip is an excerpt of an interview with Unai Emery after our 4-2 defeat against Leicester City. I know you're disappointed right now, but overall is there still a feeling that you're going in the right direction with Asanvila? Yes. Overall, today we lost but we were two months ago in the bottom of the table and we are thinking as well at the beginning to keep the Premier League and second, of course, we had the opportunity and we were speaking about the possibility to win today and go in top ten teams, but the opportunity we lost and now we have to react quickly, analyse the match and try to improve the mistakes we made, but overall I think the way we are doing at the moment is continuing being positive, but we have to be very demanding of ourselves, with the players, with myself, to improve some mistakes. Unai Emery is really trying to turn the feet around. And thus losing only one in the last six league games. This is an exceptional step from us, but there is always room to improve. I'm really disappointed today. We were very happy and we were taking good victories and we are sharing with our support a good moment, but as well the balance today wasn't good and at home here I want to try to transmit and to connect with our supporters. For today's trivia, how much did we beat Bayern Munich to win the Champions League in 1982? A. 1-0, B. 5-0, C. 1-0 and we won on penalties, or D. 2-0? The answer was A. Aston Villa won the Champions League 1-0 in 1982 against Bayern Munich. Now Aston Villa have announced they are looking to expand Villa Park to more than 50,000 seats as part of developments around the area. It will include knocking down the current north stand with a state-of-the-art stand built in its place. The club have launched a pre-application planning consultation and are hopeful the first phase of improvements to Villa Park will take place from 2023 to 2025. Aston Villa is planning to expand their huge stadium, Villa Park. They are spending millions of dollars in their stadium and the grounds around the stadium. They are improving youth academy facilities to train the next generation also. They are also building a new building called Villa Live to interact more with the fans. A new club shop will also be built around the grounds. And they will be tearing down the old north stand to replace it with a new more modern north stand which will accommodate up to 50,000 people. This new stadium will be a world-class one for sure and the renovations have already started. As we try and improve the fortunes of Aston Villa and enable the club to compete at the very highest level it's vital that we grow our revenue base. Football rules all require spending that is proportionate to revenues and so to be able to employ the best footballers we need to grow those revenues and increasing the size of our stadium is one way to do so. Today we were able to talk about Aston Villa's amazing results against smaller teams in the Prem and also about their mind-blowing plan to expand Villa Park. As we are coming to the end of this episode I'd just like to tell you to subscribe to the podcast as it would help us greatly. Thank you for listening. This podcast is brought to you by Gazoo.
