The speaker discusses the use of affirmations for personal development. They initially found affirmations stressful and couldn't understand why. Through exploration, they realized that affirmations can be debilitating because they come from a sense of lack and trying to fill a void. The speaker suggests that instead of using affirmations, one should connect with their heart and greatness to manifest what they desire. They believe that affirmations don't work and offer an alternative approach. Hi, this is Tracy here for another 6 Minutes of Stillness. Today I wanted to think about one of the big personal development tools that we are often gifted, which is that of using affirmations. The sense of using affirmations is that somehow if we tell ourselves a story long enough, we begin to believe it. And I wanted to explore that because for such a long time, I have really rebelled against using affirmations and found them such a stressful process and I couldn't put my finger on why it was that I really could not relate to it. I wondered for a while whether it was because I wasn't using the right affirmations and from testing the energy balance when saying them, I noticed that there were certain fears or energy blocks that were kind of determined not to allow the affirmation to sit comfortably or be a resonant fit for me. It was only through the exploration of the work of alchemy and especially the teachings of William Whitecloud that I really got a sense of why it is that affirmations can often be one of the most debilitating and problem-causing actions we can possibly take. Much of the teaching of Natural Success and the work of William Whitecloud is a sense that we always feel broken or a sense of not being whole when we're within our egoic structure, when we're stuck within our head because we're measuring ourselves against our beliefs and thoughts and the meanings and values that we hold within our lives. So when we are affirming things, I'm thin enough, I'm fat enough, I'm wealthy, I am abundant, I have my soulmate, in all honesty, where does that come from? Would we say these things if we were already whole in those aspects of our lives or believed we were whole? Or do we create the syntax and those sentences as a means of creating a filler? A filler of the crack, of the lack of wholeness that we feel? Let's just try on an affirmation. Choose one. Think of something on your list of something you really want to hold dear to you. An easy one is possibly, I am healthy, I am totally healthy. But think about it, notice your energy at the point of getting into your heart and feeling the love within and that completeness of self. It's expansive, it's protective, it's unlimited and it has so much potential and easily fills whatever space it is that we're after. Now come back, come back into your head space and stand there and use an affirmation. Whatever affirmation you want, I am healthy. But notice it. Once you've said it, notice it. Feel its resonance within your body. Where does it sit? Is any part of that in that heart space? Does any part of that affirmation allow your heart and your inner greatness to feel that wholeness, that wholesomeness, that unlimited ability, the connectedness through everything, to everything? No? That's how I feel every time I use any affirmations. So what else can we do? I totally believe 100% that affirmations do not work. What else can we do then? Well, that's where the magic lies. Get into your heart. Find that greatness. I spoke about greatness in another podcast a few days ago. Get into your greatness. Imagine that what it is that you choose for yourself and just sit with that feeling and know that this is the beginning of making it be for you, making it become real and setting up the structure so that you do get what you want without having to say another affirmation ever in your life. Thanks for listening. We'll catch up again soon on 6 Minutes of Stillness. Bye for now.
