The speaker suggests that one way to engage millennials in learning is to connect it to areas where they want to grow, such as getting promoted. They mention that millennials often want to get promoted quickly, so it's important to structure learning in a way that shows progress. By asking them to share examples of how they are progressing and positioning themselves for their ideal state, it fuels their positive mindset. The speaker advises tying the learning project to the specific area that will drive them in the direction they desire. One of the greatest things that you can do, especially with generations, in this case millennials, obviously, is to tie the learning project to an area of opportunity where they want to grow. Now let's say somebody wants to get promoted, and a typical attribute of millennials is they want to get promoted before they're ready. And I always try to structure things in the format of progress. Every week, Lisa, I want you to come in with two examples of where you're progressing, what you've done to position yourself, to progress, to move in the direction of your ideal state. See, one of the great attributes of millennials is they love to learn. So if you can tie their learning project to what are you learning, where do you feel like you're progressing, what that does is it fuels their mind positively. Make sure you're tying it to the area that will drive them in the direction they want to go and where you expect.
