Coachability can be a great learning project. Seek feedback, advice, and reflect on what you learned from coaching sessions. Create a weekly cadence for different learning projects tied to Coachability. It can be a subset of another coaching area. Use the definition of Coachability and ask for examples that represent it. This project will also benefit other areas of coaching. Now, Coachability, once it's defined, can be a great learning project, such as every week I want you to seek feedback. Every week I want you to seek advice. Every week I want you to tell me what you learned about yourself from the coaching sessions, whether it be from assigned peers or it would be from assigned coaches or maybe even directly from you, the boss. So the learning project is tied to an area, not the whole topic, typically, of Coachability. And what you want to do is create a cadence, typically weekly, where you're literally providing people different learning projects, such as next week tell me two things where you sought feedback and how did you positively put that into action. So take parts of your definition and turn it into a learning project. Now, the great thing about Coachability, it could be a subset of another area that you're coaching to. So let's say you're coaching someone to become a first-time manager or to have a more positive disposition and attitude when it comes to teamwork. You can actually have a double learning project, but make Coachability one of those learning projects. Give them the definition and ask them, I want you to come back with two examples next week where you really represented our definition of Coachability thoughtfully and professionally. That undertone, that foundational learning project will serve the other area as well during your coaching interactions.
