Hello Friday I could kiss you Hello Friday It's time for today's newest country music Indie Country Radio With Tim Kelly I was small but I recall Mom sang nursery rhymes Tucked in bed I always said Them was fast times Sunday evening logs on fire Wireless turned to songs To the grand old opry And the latest country songs We'd sing along Ever since I was crawling I could hear Nashville calling Nashville calling Guitar strings they played with my heart Heavenly harmonies tore my soul apart I was gently falling I could hear Nashville calling Turning five I came alive Played my first guitar That was when this little one said I wanna be a country star I served my time in honky tonk For years I had a ball Covered Willie and the Man in Black I just loved them all Waiting for the call Guitar strings they played with my heart Heavenly harmonies tore my soul apart I was gently falling I could hear Nashville calling Guitar solo Shared my songs in hope Dreams come true Willie and the Man in Black Heard something new Gave the country wild and ballad flow Let's have fun like all those years ago Round the radio Phone wakes me in the morning Hey son, Nashville calling Guitar strings they played with my heart Heavenly harmonies tore my soul apart I was gently falling I could hear Nashville calling Nashville calling Nashville Calling You know my name but not my story What this life brought me to do Don't judge me till you've walked my journey Maybe I just did a little different thing But I don't care what you think of me The conscience won't bother me at all Won't try to justify my actions My redemption ain't your call I don't know my decision I did my time, paid my dues I got an answer to one man only That sure ain't true No that ain't true But I don't care what you think of me The conscience won't bother me at all Won't try to justify my actions My redemption ain't your call I don't care what you think of me The conscience won't bother me at all Won't try to justify my actions My redemption ain't your call Won't try to justify my actions My redemption ain't your call It ain't your call It ain't your call Don't cry for the wolf Don't struggle in quicksand Don't seek the devil Or take him by the hand Don't look for trouble Cause all you'll find is pain And don't call down the thunder If you don't like the rain If you don't like the rain Well I remember back when I was young My daddy told me I always Treated like a loaded gun Well he would say Why we were men in vases Every move you made There's always consequences Don't cry for the wolf Don't struggle in quicksand Don't seek the devil Or take him by the hand Don't look for trouble Cause all you'll find is pain And don't call down the thunder And don't call down the thunder If you don't like the rain There's what you want There's wrong and right But all that counts Is how you live your life I play with dogs You think I'd learn I play with fire And I got burned Don't cry for the wolf Don't struggle in quicksand Don't seek the devil Or take him by the hand Don't look for trouble Cause all you'll find is pain And don't call down the thunder If you don't like the rain If you don't like the rain We have the country music that rocks on the radio tonight How about them making their debut on the Tim Kelly show tonight That is a great group from Ope, Alabama They are called Five Runs And their latest single out the radio is called Consequences And I want to thank my good friend Myra Harrell for sending them my way They are fantastic and we're working out the details So maybe have them as a special guest on the Tim Kelly show tonight But speaking of special guests Up first tonight I've got my good friend Kirstie Krause with me And let's do the radio interview right now You're listening to the Tim Kelly show on K-I-C-R, Indy Country Radio And tonight we have with us as a special guest My good friend Kirstie Krause How are ya? Hey, I'm doing so good, how are you? I'm doing fantastic as well Thanks for doing the program tonight, we sure do appreciate it Of course, you guys are taking time out of your schedules to celebrate my music So I'm appreciative of what you guys are doing Absolutely, if they haven't heard our first interview They're going to love this one because you've got a brand new single we're going to play for the folks And your music is always top notch And I love playing you on the radio And love talking to you on the radio too So we're good friends by now Oh yes, that means a lot that you said that though Because I really do put a lot of energy into the production of music And what I'm putting out there And how I'm writing the songs So I really appreciate you saying that Absolutely, your third song we're going to play Is going to kick off the top of the next hour It is called Thirsty And that's exactly what you call your fan base Your Thirsties Tell us how that kind of came about I do, it was kind of organically It was like a roundabout but organic way I was in a band in the Midwest It was called Thirsty Jones And eventually I just kind of started doing Kirstie Krause and Thirsty Jones Like Joan Jett and the Blackhearts So they just started calling themselves the Thirsties Like people that came out to shows that were OG's That were always at shows And it just kind of stuck from there I was like I actually really like that So it's like why change it when it's already happening Exactly You know the reason I do this show And I've been doing it for the last 12 years Is because people are thirsty for new music And I love to grab the best in new country first And I think they're just thirsty for country music It is I think the most popular genre right now I think that it is most popular It definitely is And I think that's how I use the term I don't think the term has to be like a negative term It can be like You know my soul is thirsty for positivity And thirsty for music that feeds my soul And so I use it in that way And it's just kind of stuck And of course obviously it helps That it rhymes with my name And helps people pronounce my name correctly Right So I'm like cool Thirsty like thirsty Thirsty like thirsty I love that That's awesome Yeah I grew up watching Cheers you know And I'm interviewing a Rebecca Howe Here pretty soon on the radio And you know Kirstie Alley played her That was her name on the show So that's going to be interesting to talk to her She's got some really great country music as well Oh my gosh that's so funny That's like a full circle kind of thing I know right You have me and then that I love it Well you know I got into radio because of Jay Thomas He used to DJ at Power 106 And then later on he played Carlos has been in Cheers too Oh wow He's one of the reasons I'm in radio He has since passed away But he used to be on David Letterman all the time And everything too But your music has a blend of a lot of other genres It's country It's funk It's blues It's rock It's all that put together I love that Yeah I think I just I've always grown up listening to music Music was always a part of my life Ever since I was a little girl So I've gotten time to explore All the different genres And I think the music that I listen to Definitely 100% seeps into my writing So I'm constantly very conscious About what I'm soaking myself in And what I'm listening to Because I know it will show up in my writing Yeah And I love what you say about There are no boundaries You just say there's just a process of letting go And you let the song tell you where it wants to go Or what it wants to be I love that Yeah I mean It's kind of strange to hear that But really it's like putting me out of the way So that the song can just be channeled Through my hands and my brain And be sung out of my mouth Like a lot of times I feel like The song is just channeling through me I just have to be in the space To let that happen And that's really kind of how it happens Yep One of the beauties of being an independent artist Is that gets to happen You let the song tell you where it wants to go Not the big labels telling you What direction you need to go in Or anything like that 100% 100% Love that You started at a very early age Of playing music So tell us about your start in music Yeah when I was 5 years old I was in kindergarten And my kindergarten teacher took my mom aside And actually had like a deeper conversation With her about That this child is a little different She loves music But there's a different level to it And my mom was oblivious She didn't really know at the time But ever since that conversation I was singing national anthems I was in plays, dance, piano Eventually did voice Started writing with a mentor at 12 I was always doing something creative Whether it was drawing Painting or writing songs So that was kind of my childhood right there I worked at a dinner theater So I did a lot of theater stuff And piano And then I didn't pick up the guitar until I was 15 And that's when I joined NSAI Which is National Songwriters Association International And started making trips to Nashville To write music and co-write with people Out of Nashville And so eventually Now I live in Nashville It's been 6 and a half years 6 and a half, okay Gotta update that on the website It says 5 years ago Now 6 and a half, boy time flies when you're having fun Doesn't it? That's awesome And you're originally from Wisconsin So you grew up around a hard working Midwest environment That is right, yay Thanks for saying that Wisconsin people, Midwest people I feel like they just They want to work hard They do what they say And that's what I love about people And you know, I'm in the Midwest too They still call this the Midwest In Branson, we're right smack in the middle of the country And it's also called the Bible Belt I've been getting a lot of great country gospel music Here lately And there's some really good stuff out there So you've played some iconic venues though In Nashville Like the Listening Room Cafe, the Blue Bird And I'm sure numerous others That's gotta be a treat It certainly was Those venues are very special And so to be able to say that I played the Blue Bird And even the Listening Room, both of those venues Are hard to get into as an artist So I'm very honored that I've gotten to play my music there I've also played in Branson Actually, it was like the Starlight Theater at the time It was like the American Kids show I think I was like 10 or 11 years old And I came out for a week And I was a guest for that week To be a part of the kids show So speaking of Branson Awesome So speaking of Branson I'm actually tomorrow night Going to be at the Pierce Arrow Theater Opening for the Nashville Roadhouse Live show That kicks off at 8 o'clock central I do my radio show from 5 to 8 And get to interview some of the artists that are performing there And I'd love to interview you live You can sit right down beside me right here on the table Great, okay I'll come out for a rodeo Absolutely We've got Jeannie Kendall from the Kendals Who's going to perform here We've got the great Merle Haggard at one time She comes here So lots of great artists And he's bringing in some of the independent artists That I've been playing on the radio So I'll get you that information And we'll see if we can't make something happen Sweet, let's do it They call this little town of Branson The live show capital of the world Based on how many theaters there are here And how many theater seats We have more theaters than Broadway has in New York City Did you know that? I did not know that But I have been there and there are definitely a lot of theaters Yep, absolutely And things are starting to really pick up now in spring And it's getting a lot warmer So we're loving that And Branson's starting to look like Branson again There you go, yes You've got to make a trip there You've got some musical influences of powerhouse ladies In the world of music Not just country But I'm going to name off some names here Names like Mariah, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan Amy Grant, all of those are fantastic And you started listening to them at the young age of six I guess Yeah, even really before that I mean it was like 92, 93 That some of those women put out their iconic albums So those are really like Those women I tell you what, that was it That was it for me Like I didn't even know there was God music Like it was just all about them at the time I didn't discover male country till like 20 Like 2007 Not till like later But yeah, so it was I think a lot of those females Have such empowering songs And they have so much fun melodies That inspire people And I think that's pretty much why Generally my music is very It's very positive It feels good It makes people want to do something Like change something that they need to change Or even just maybe something lighter Like dance around and have fun It's very much inspired around that stuff Absolutely And it says you've been mentored by the best In the business as well And you decided to do what other successful artists do And that is building your fan base And the relationships And then try to make the big leap to Nashville And that's exactly how you do it I absolutely did that And I waited to move to Nashville I was thinking about going there for college But I was like nope, I'm going to wait I'm going to wait longer But I was really happy Coming into Nashville I knew that I was 110% Ready to put every ounce of energy That I have into this career And I was ready to Take the steps right To play on the stages of Nashville Like the Bluebird and things like that And feel ready to do that So I definitely am happy That I stayed in Wisconsin My home state and played around that Midwest area But you told me Before we got on the radio And I already know about it But you have made a big leap of faith And you are performing shows in the UK That is awesome Tell us about that You're like Taylor Swift She's all over the place Well I was just in Florida before this I had two days in Nashville And then I flew out to the UK And basically being here for five weeks So it's from the festival C2C Which is country to country So I'm calling in right now With you from Exeter In the United Kingdom So it's kind of I think we're at a five hour difference right now And it's been wild It's obviously I've only been here for three days last year So five weeks is going to be A whole different experience I feel like I'm already getting a bunch of tour stories But it's been really fun We've got a great connection on the phone You sound like you're at a theater next door Or across the street I'm telling you it's that good I've had artists call me Traveling on the road They pull over to the side of the road In their pickup trucks And we lose the signal once in a while I would have never knew that you were in Exeter From the UK Other than us talking about it That is awesome Go ahead Oh being I am at an individual House where I'm on the WiFi So that a little bit helps The people over there love the country music That you guys make over here in the United States And I'm on a station 93.9 FM in Luxembourg In the UK And it's the only FM station in a population Of 200,000 people And they've got the Tim Kelly show on there And I don't know if I'm the only country DJ That puts you artists out there to the world But we do our part That's for sure We've got radio stations in Belgium And one in Germany and Denver, Colorado And just all over the place Ireland, I've got one in Ireland So we try to put the best new country music Out there to the world That is for sure I love that That makes me so excited too That's so awesome We want to do things big If you're going to go all out you might as well That is literally what I always say Why put you on one radio station When we can do 15 And that's what we're doing tonight It's a pleasure to have you Now you are also collaborating With another young lady Who I just interviewed for the second time On the radio, my good friend Crystal King You guys had a collaboration of a song Together here just recently Yeah, Crystal and I Have a blast We also go on the road together We write together She wrote the duet Right now it's my duet partner Thomas Kavanaugh On the song Who Am I Gonna Love And it was Crystal King, my best friend out of Nashville And then Thomas Kavanaugh, my best friend out of the UK Got together The two of them wrote this song She texted it to me and I was like Oh my gosh you guys, this is the song We have to put this one out So we put that out a year ago Thomas and I as a duet And it has done so many wonders The two of us trying to cross over the pond Him coming to Nashville to visit And me going over to the UK to visit It's just been a wonderful cross promotion And every time we perform that song Like we did last night It has a great response So please check out Who Am I Gonna Love Okay, absolutely And you know Crystal told me That she's also on the radio She's doing a weekend show on SiriusXM On Jimmy Buffett's channel I thought that was really cool Oh, Radio Margaritaville She's kicking butt over there She's doing so good I'm telling her how proud I am of her That is awesome I've got another good friend on Y2 Country Danielle Peck, she's doing that It's from the early 2000s up until today The country music that they play And a person of your age That's probably what you grew up listening to I'm not going to ever tell a woman's age But some of that early 2000s Probably really stuck with you didn't it I remember Danielle Peck I remember going to see her at the fair At my local fair And seeing her perform So that's cool that you said her name I like chocolate But my hamsters don't I remember that She definitely has a voice She's got a little gravel in her voice I love that And I love your voice as well And in fact I love it so much I want to play your newest single right now It's called Be Crazy Tell us about this one Oh my gosh, this is such a fun song It's spring break time in the states So we are just celebrating everyone That's going to the beach And having a good time And hanging out with their friends Drinking margaritas or whatever Just people to loosen up Have some fun And it definitely tells individual stories About all the beaches all over the states And the fun party things that you can do at them There's a video to that that I also have on ICTV Indie Country Television There is a video right? I haven't made a full blown video On that yet But there's nothing to say That it ain't coming We've got a great video channel And we're radio and television So as soon as you put out your next video Be sure to send me that YouTube link And I'll get it on there for you Perfect, I love it Awesome, I want to see the video to that I hate my bad but yeah It just sounds like a song that needs a video New Music Friday In every moment When someone is lost There's something to turn to Life has you tossed No expectation Of thanks or praise You may not know where to find it All but love has its way It's love to the rescue It comes in the nature of time Just when you thought the world had forgotten Love comes and changes every mind And for the helpless In hope for the few You don't know where on earth to turn It's love to the rescue It comes in the nature of time Just when you thought the world had forgotten Love comes and changes every mind And for the helpless In hope for the few You don't know where on earth to turn It's love to the rescue It comes in the nature of time Just when you thought the world had forgotten Love comes and changes every mind And for the helpless In hope for the few You don't know where on earth to turn It's love to the rescue In hope for the few You don't know where on earth to turn It's love to the rescue You'll never be far from what you need As long as love can stay In your heart or in your soul And in your path along life's way And for the helpless In hope for the few You don't know where on earth to turn It's love to the rescue It comes in the Your shirt is getting warm The knees of these jeans are torn It's love that don't work the way it should And this Holding a beer on a Friday night Holding a match when I need a light Holding a gun in my own guitar Spend my money in a crowded diner bar You're listening to the band with new country music on KICO In June 23rd I've got all the time in the world That's what they say Someday we'll sit down and work it out Ah, but not today But seasons come and years have passed And now the cold wind blows Past regrets and things unsaid Is now their home I don't want to be stoned cold When I'm standing before the stone Of someone I should have made things right But I left alone That old winter chill, stubborn pride Will leave you frozen to the bone And if that's the price for being right I don't want to be stoned cold When I'm standing before the stone You can't melt the pain With the warm tears that are falling So while you got the time, go on and call them But you don't want to be stoned cold When you're standing before the stone Of someone you should have made things right But you left alone That old winter chill, stubborn pride Will leave you frozen to the bone And if that's the price for being right I don't want to be stoned cold And if that's the price for being right I don't want to be stoned cold I don't want to be stoned cold Kirstie Krause New Country's Best on New hill To workin' out in that cornfield And learnin' how to behave That's how I was raised A Friday night fun by hangin' out in a field A couple buddies grab a drink and a fish and a eel Findin' no back road, no one knows Tear it up until the roots are grown Sunday mornings I'll be droppin' up and goin' to church Givin' thanks to God for what life's worth Roots run deeper than a Georgia pine Tell me your story, I'll tell you mine Every fall it's the county fair Seein' people you know standin' everywhere Just catchin' up It's a small town kinda love A handshake on top of just hello Talk about your plans for tomorrow Someone would be amazed That's how I was raised A Friday night fun by hangin' out in a field A couple buddies grab a drink and a fish and a eel Findin' no back road, no one knows Tear it up until the roots are grown Sunday mornings I'll be droppin' up and goin' to church Givin' thanks to God for what life's worth Roots run deeper than a Georgia pine Tell me your story, I'll picture perfect for a road, put it in a frame Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh But it's lookin' like it's all gonna change Well, I was just on the counter on Wilton Now, now, oh, now I'm takin' pictures Now I'm right side, my sand looks a little bit dusty Heartbreak makes it sweet and lovely I can't run the night away Clouds rollin' and I always wind Didn't feel a pull up until you said you didn't love me Heartbreak makes it sweet and lovely And there's usually a little more put together But I can't quit when it's pulling past you And you're still sittin' for me And I can't even hide how bad it hurts I'm a renegade and a rebel soul It's strong and uncontrollable Rough as 40 grit and hard as nails I'm wild as the wind and a pirate's sail She's a sweet little sugar, a soft southern draw Can't say nothin', I should say nothin' at all Fake and mild as amazing grace And all dandelions and ribbon and lace When she leans in close and looks me eye to eye All my swagger don't intimidate And her lovin' arms I'm hypnotized I'm the king of this jungle That girl's a wine-tamer Yes, she's a wine-tamer Now, there ain't much place for a savage like me In this modern-day society But when she runs her face through my veins I'm wild and free and homely When she leans in close and looks me eye to eye All my swagger don't intimidate And her lovin' arms I'm hypnotized I'm the king of this jungle That girl's a wine-tamer Yes, she's a wine-tamer When she leans in close and looks me eye to eye All my swagger don't intimidate And her lovin' arms I'm hypnotized I'm the king of this jungle That girl's a wine-tamer Yes, she's a wine-tamer That girl's a wine-tamer You're listening to New Music Friday on KICR Indie Country Radio Growing up, it wasn't easy I was broken, defeated But I was strong and held on to the bruised and the bleeding With daddy gone, we were alone Some might say I was cheated But they were wrong, all along I had everything I needed I was raised in a house where love was found And your word always stood the test My life was wonderful to go after far But I never had the one for nothing God was my salvation He gave me strength when my days were hazy Stone by stone, my whole foundation was laid I was homeless I left home, I moved on Grateful for the rest But I learned a little hurt can turn into a blessing With people and dirty spoons I climbed up through the attic I'm here today with a stronger face If anybody's asking I was raised in a house where love was found And your word always stood the test My life was wonderful to go after far But I never had the one for nothing God was my salvation He gave me strength when my days were hazy Stone by stone, my whole foundation was laid I was homeless Homeless I was homeless All the handprints on my heart I was homeless And that's a real good place to start I was raised in a house where love was found And your word always stood the test My life was wonderful to go after far But I never had the one for nothing God was my salvation He gave me strength when my days were hazy Stone by stone, my whole foundation was laid I was homeless I was homeless Hey Jess, you ready to go?
