Nothing to say, yet
Test, test. All right. Okay. Oops, let's go. Once upon a time, there was a small village nestled in the foothills of a mountain range. The villagers prided themselves on their healthy diet and active lifestyle, and they enjoyed the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables that grew from the fertile soil surrounding them. One day, an old merchant stumbled into town with his wagon full of exotic goods from faraway lands. One item he had was plums, something none of the villagers had ever seen before. They were intrigued by these strange little fruits. Some were big, some were round, small, oval, you name it. Even colors, some of them were purple, some of them are yellow, red, orange, you name it. The villagers quickly sampled one, each of them, to see what it tasted like. Sweet, but its own unique flavor. So they decided to buy some more from the merchant. After all, not only did it taste great, but it also offered many health benefits, such as high levels of potassium, copper, magnesium, vitamin A, C, K, as well as it was low in glycemic index. Smart villagers, huh? Well, the merchant stayed for several weeks until he eventually left, leaving behind crates full of plums, which everyone happily devoured. Nowadays, you can find plums growing in abundance around that same mountain village. Alright, do you like my little story? Let me tell you some real life story about plums. As a diabetic, you will love it. And you will even learn more if you subscribe to my newsletter, sugarmds.com. And don't forget to claim your diabetes book, that is totally free. Now when it comes to managing diabetes, it is crucial to pay attention to what you eat, especially when it comes to fruits, right? Yeah, you know it. Many people wonder if plums are safe in terms of blood sugar spikes, right? The good news is that the plums are an excellent snack for individuals dealing with diabetes, if you snack, or you can have as part of your breakfast. Not only are they delicious, but they are also rich in chlorogenic acid. Remember chlorogenic acid from my other videos? It comes with organic coffee. This is a type of polyphenol that may assist in balancing blood sugar levels and appetite. Now, more to that, plums are a great source of fiber, which is essential for maintaining healthy blood sugar levels and digestion. That's why it helps with constipation, which I'll talk about that later. So whether you are dealing with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, plums can be a beneficial addition. To begin, let's have a conversation about weight loss, which is crucial for the majority of diabetics, if not all of them. And if you are one of those having trouble losing some weight that you gained recently, maybe. But if it's not just you, if not you, 90% of people have that problem. They gain, they lose, and they're looking for a way to lose again. Now, a study that was conducted at the University of Liverpool found that individuals who consumed prunes on a daily basis, for a period of 12 weeks or so, were able to reduce their waist size an average of 1 inch and 4.4 pounds. But that's not the end of it. Plums, in addition to being delicious, they're excellent for heart health. Now, why should we be concerned with our heart health? My heart is ticking, yours is ticking too, hopefully. Well, because people with diabetes are 4 times more likely to have heart concerns, heart problems, heart attacks, heart failure, than people without diabetes. Now, one medium-sized plum contains a staggering 113 mg of potassium. Eating them is a fantastic method to minimize the chance of having a stroke by bringing high blood pressure under control. Even if your blood pressure is 140 over 90, don't think it is normal. It's not normal. That's what your doctors tell you. But real normal blood pressure is 120 over 70 or even lower. Now, plums are low in calories too. It makes them a wonderful option for those of us who are trying to watch what we eat by following a good diet, right? But did you know that eating plums may even lower your risk of diabetes if you don't already have one? Which is great, right? A lot of you are watching this channel because you are concerned. You don't have diabetes, but you are concerned. Now, plums have a low glycemic index, which means that they will help prevent a sudden spike in your blood sugar. It will raise it a little bit, but not like a spike, even with a type 2 diabetes. And it will satisfy your cravings for something sweet in no time. Now, in addition to this, plums may also be helpful in relieving the symptoms of constipation. Now, I'll talk more about this. Some of you, for example, take ozempic or tuberculosis or rubellosis. Then you end up experiencing some constipation, if not right away, maybe down the road. Now, prunes, which are the dried form of plums, are high in dietary fiber and are commonly used as a help in the treatment of constipation. So I tell this information to my patients so that they come back and say, yeah, it was helpful for them. A recent study even reveals that people who were battling with constipation experienced relief from their symptoms once they started eating plums for a few weeks. And it was all gone. So it's not just my experience. Studies also show that as well. Now, did you know that treating cancer cells with plum extract can actually be helpful to kill aggressive cancer cells while having no effect on healthy cells that are surrounding them? I'm not talking about treating your lung cancer. If you already have a lung cancer, this is not a chemotherapy. So you need chemotherapy or radiotherapy, you have to. But did you know that our bodies actually produce cancer every day? We make cancer cells every day. Our immune system recognizes them and says, this guy doesn't look right, let's take him down. Once you're unhealthy, diabetes, et cetera, your immune system goes down, your cancer risk goes up. You're producing those cancers, but we don't call them a cancer unless they become a tumor. So everybody produces cancers, but some of them turn into tumor and some of them turn into metastatic tumor. But if you're eating plums, your chance of developing those cancers hopefully will be much less. Now, if you want to reap the full range of health benefits, include plums today in your diet. If not every day, at least a few times a week. But hold on, there's more to it. Plums also include antioxidants, which boost your bone health, which by the way, we don't know how it does, but it helps the bone health as well. There's probably a substance in there that we didn't discover yet. It also helps prevent the cell damage, cancer, et cetera, as we talked. Now, plums are a great source of antioxidants. Why are we not eating more plums, right? Because they have so many advantages. Now, I think I'm talking too much here. I'm going to summarize. Adding plums to your diet is unquestionably a wise decision because they bring with them a host of positive health effects. In addition to that, they have a wonderful flavor. So your system, especially your gastrointestinal system, will be grateful if you eat those plums. So don't be shy about occasionally indulging in those delicious plums. Of course, maybe a handful when I say indulge, but here's the deal. You made this so far. You are at the end of this video. Congratulations. Many thanks to everyone who already watched the entire thing and want to actually watch the next one. Do I even have to tell you that you need to share this video and give a thumbs up? You already know that, right? That is the least you can do. If you throw a comment and say thank you, we love that too. But again, stay happy, stay healthy.
