Peter Rizzo from the University of Buffalo is concerned about the custodial staffing standards for dorm rooms. He believes that the current ratio of employees to square footage is too high and that there are not enough custodial staff. He has a matrix in Excel that verifies his opinion and suggests that there should be around 149 employees for the number of dorm rooms they have. Peter wants to know if there is a way to correct this or if the current staffing is accurate. Hi Steve, this is Peter Rizzo from the University of Buffalo. My phone number is 716-430-7776, again 716-430-7776. I have a quick question about the custodial staffing standards for dorm rooms specifically. I noticed that the ratio of employees to square footage for dorm rooms are pretty high, and we don't clean dorm rooms on a regular basis. We do that at the end of the occupancy period, however many times that may be, if we have people during their school year and during the summer, etc., we'll take care of that accordingly. But, for example, we have two and a half million square feet of residential space and currently 87 custodial staff, which is not enough in my opinion. And that's verified by this matrix that I have in Excel. With the ABA standards, you plug in square footage and it spits out the recommended. But for the amount of dorm rooms that we have, it's recommending 149 or so employees, which is, it seems very high to me, and I just want to see if there's a way I can correct for this, or if it is accurate. I know, I mean, although I'd love to have that many employees, just for cleaning dorm rooms that seems excessive. So, again, my phone number is 716-430-7776. Thank you.
