Teaching science in a diverse classroom can be challenging, but technology can simplify it. Mrs. C wants to engage her students in learning about habitat loss. I found an article suggesting platforms like Google Classroom, Schoolology, or Blackboard for uploading class content. This allows students to review it at their own pace and complete tasks. The teacher needs to consider her students' needs and find commonality among them to choose the best technology. It may require using multiple technologies. Good luck, Mrs. C! Good evening and welcome to the world around us. Tonight we're discussing technology in a science classroom. Teaching science in a diverse classroom can be challenging, yet technology can make it simple. Mrs. C is a teacher trying to show her students about habitat loss around the local environment. She needs help to decide which kind of technology would best engage her students. As Mrs. C's mentor, I considered the diversity of her classroom as I looked for the solution. I found an article in the National Science Teaching Association's website, co-authored by Kate McLean and Jenny Kelly. The article titled, Using Technology to Sensitively and Sensibly Meet the Students' Needs in the Science Classroom. The article discussed different platforms, such as Google Classroom, Schoolology, or Blackboard, providing students with different options to meet their needs. To upload class content onto her screen, or her presentation, so that the students can review it at their own pace. By doing this, the students will be able to understand and complete tasks that she's asking. This is a direct quote from the article. The teacher needs to consider her students' needs and identify which kind of technology would be best for them. I explained to her that she needs to find the commonality between her learners. This will provide a starting point to streamline her choice of technology. And sometimes it's not just one technology, but many. Mrs. C, I hope this helps you out, and good luck.
