Overall, the speaker views Apple Watches as a beneficial technology that limits screen time while enhancing communication and awareness. Hello, my name is Sammy Volz, and to start this podcast, I want to say that my technology source that I chose was on Apple Watches, and the reason why I chose this is because I feel I see more and more people wearing them, and more and more younger students actually wearing them, and I think there's a lot of benefits, and that's kind of what I wanted to talk about. So, what sort of person will the use of this sort of technology make of me was the first question on the Ezra Klein show, and after I reflected on that, I feel like these Apple Watches are very useful for the fact that you're not as glued to a phone, so I feel like in today's society, it is kind of sad that, you know, everyone is just glued to their phone. I feel like the watches are more of a subtle way to, you know, get that communication and get those answers, and also, you know, motivate you to stand and walk and try and hit your health goals and your fitness goals, and I just feel like a lot of students could get a lot of use out of it, and I think that's why a lot more parents are wanting their child to wear one. For habits, I feel like, you know, when it says those reminders of it's time to stand, you can set your own goals on those watches. I feel like, you know, people are very overweight in the United States, and I think this is a helpful way to motivate them and get them moving more often. How will the use of technology affect my experience of the place? You know, I feel like with every technology, I feel like you have to limit yourself, and I think with the Apple Watches, it's not like you can go on Instagram, you can't go on social media on these Apple Watches, or maybe you can, and I just don't have access to that, but I feel like there's more so a way to self-monitor yourself and just have that discipline of not being tied to always looking at social media and things like that. How will this use of technology affect how I relate to other people? I truly think that this will help be able to communicate without having to have a phone on you all the time. I also think this is a really good way to, you know, have GPS and track your loved ones. And what will the use of this technology encourage me to notice? And I truly think that this technology is making people more aware, so like I said, they're not so much glued to a screen, but just being able to access certain things like sending a text via voice message, and you can do it just by, you know, literally raising your wrist to your mouth. And I just feel like overall, I think that this is a really beneficial technology resource to just society. I think it limits the screen time, but it also allows you to communicate with others in a more effective and just successful way.
