Underwater archaeology has led to the discovery of numerous shipwrecks, such as the Heos shipwreck in 2005. This particular site posed a challenge as it was located 70 meters deep, beyond the diving limits of scuba divers. To overcome this, archaeologists had to rely on advanced technology for more precise findings. As underwater archaeology has begun to develop, more and more shipwrecks are being uncovered, including the 2005 Heos shipwreck. This site tested the limits of underwater remote sensing because the wrecks were 70 meters deep and scuba divers are limited to less than 50 meters. Thus, archaeologists had to turn to developing technology in order to get more accurate results.
