The podcast discusses the concept of social productivity, which refers to the constant need to be productive and the difficulty in doing nothing. The guests talk about their personal experiences and the negative effects of excessive work without rest. They also discuss the origins of this behavior and its impact on relationships. Solutions to overcome toxic productivity include working in moderation, taking short breaks, and learning to say no. The podcast aims to help listeners find a balance between productivity and relaxation. Welcome to Radio Foster and Brumman with me, Ann. Today we move to an interesting episode talking about social productivity for people who haven't known exactly about it. I'm so excited to share with everyone right now. Before we start, I want to introduce three guests we've got today. Hi, and welcome Phu Phan Bao. Hi, everyone. Thanks for inviting me. It's an honor for me to participate in this episode. Okay, let's start the podcast by answering today's question. What is social productivity? What came to your mind when you heard about it, Ken? I think social productivity can be described as a stage of behavior when people can't stop being productive and they find it difficult to do nothing. Maybe I think they will feel guilty when they skip their job too. Or they will obsess in being productive all the time. It sounds bad, isn't it? That's right. However, have you guys ever been in this situation before? I'm sometimes in that kind of situation. Me neither. As you know, I'm a concerned creator full-time, so I couldn't get out of my work and I often burnt the midnight oil that I repeat day by day to complete all tasks that I set out to do as my aim. Personally, I believe that working hard is nothing to be ashamed of. But like any good habit, moderation is important. So, where do you guys think it came from? I don't know exactly where it came from, but I think it totally starts from our expectation and comparison. Perhaps, we always compare ourselves to someone around us because seeing someone else being productive might affect us, and we have to work harder. How do you feel when you want to try and finish everything you want without time off? On some days, I'm really tired and stressed. My mood went down, especially when I want to try something new to share with my friends. But I have no idea about everything. Of course, whenever you work without rest, it always causes both mental and physical health. For instance, if you work constantly, you will be weary and out of energy. At that moment, every activity will be interrupted. Dr. Wilco, the author of Good Feeling, said that if you don't take time to rest, your body is going to pick a time for you that you won't be able to work. Moreover, it can impact our relationships around us, right? Because you have no special time to hang out or interact with them, that might be one of the consequences. Hey, let's imagine if we kept losing our relationships, what would happen? I think we might be isolated from the things around us. Wow, I couldn't imagine it. If this is true, I will really, really be stressed. Come on, don't be that serious. We still have some solutions for this. Relax, Ba. Alright, we will return to discuss it after the commercial. It is time for a sponsor today. It is an honor for us that AVPK Tourist is going to be our partner. Chilling out with us throughout Vietnam to discover culture, different local food and people in your free time. This may only get 30% off for a family tour. Do it without hesitation. Alright, back to our regular work. We had talked about what, why and how we cause toxic productivity. Are there any solutions to get out of it? Hmm, depending on my knowledge, there are some ways to reduce ourselves from toxic productivity. Honestly, I think working too much at one time or multitasking too much might not be as effective as less. But all about quality, not quantity. I agree with it. Besides that, we should have a short break time while working. By this way, we can balance between task and relax. For example, using Pomodoro method to limit time in concentrating on something. Because if you focus on something for a long time, it will reduce your efficiency in working and you will feel exhausted. So now I know what should I do to optimize my time efficiently and spend more time hanging out with my family and my friends. Learning how to reject can also be a good solution. There are a lot of people who want to prove themselves. That's why they keep receiving tasks and being burned out through it. There are some suggestions for you guys so you can choose the best way which is suitable for you and try to apply it in your own journey. Hopefully, after this podcast, everyone could identify exactly how to work productively without being toxic. Let me end by saying thank you to Trigger Speaker and all you guys for your experience. Hope to see you in the next podcast. Don't forget to subscribe, follow and share some other opinions in the comments. See ya!
