Balthasars Nachtmahl

"Balthasar's Nachtmahl" is a play written by Pedro Calderón de la Barca. It is based on the biblical story of Belshazzar's feast from the Book of Daniel in the Old Testament. The main character, Balthasar, throws a lavish celebration to commemorate his marriage to another woman. During the festivities, he desecrates the sacred vessels taken from Jerusalem. Suddenly, a ghostly inscription appears on the palace wall, which is interpreted by the prophet Daniel as a prophecy of doom. The play features various characters such as Balthasar, Daniel, and personifications of different concepts like Thought, Worldly Vanity, Idolatrous Love, and Death. The performance includes a cast of actors and an audio production team responsible for editing.
