Betty Baird

"Betty Baird" is the first book in the Betty Baird Series, a popular genre of boarding school books for young girls in the early 1900s. The story follows our main character, Betty Baird, who is a big fan of reading boarding school books herself. She is sent to The Pines, a boarding school where she initially faces ridicule from wealthier and more popular students. However, as time passes, Betty's unique and captivating personality wins over her adversaries, and she forms new friendships. Throughout the book, Betty and her friends embark on many lighthearted adventures during their time at The Pines. The author, Anna Hamlin Weikel (pen name Weikel), was raised by a knowledgeable clergyman named Benjamin Baird Hamlin, who serves as the inspiration for Betty Baird's father in the story. Interestingly, the reader of this book is the great grand niece of the author, Holly Jenson.
