Nothing to say, yet
The Patriots lost 21-17 to the Raiders. Jimmy Garoppolo got injured and the offense struggled. Mac Jones had a few good moments, but also threw a terrible interception. The defense played well, but it wasn't enough to win. The Patriots are now 1-5 and need to start thinking about the future and building through the draft. The upcoming games against the Bills and Vaughn Miller are not expected to go well. The team needs to evaluate the quarterback position and consider making trades to accumulate draft picks. The season has been disappointing and there is little hope for improvement. All right, here we go Tony 1315 that help the Patriots that was going to be a no chance play Jones Nichols got to him also Do you want to close out a game? And there you have it another loss All right, dude do the levels thing All right, so Patriots lose 2117 to the Raiders in a game Well, I mean kind of felt like one of those games Nobody seemed like they really wanted to win both teams. I Wouldn't say played necessarily. Well, Jimmy Garofalo goes down with a back injury actually got transported to the hospital. So hopefully he's alright. I Mean I think when they signed Jimmy kind of know like there's probably a good chance at some point he's gonna go out this year and so hopefully it's nothing serious, but um Yeah from a Patriots perspective Another game where the offense did virtually nothing Receivers still don't look good Maybe one of the few bright spots was Kendrick Bourne who I think at ten catches today, which I think is the most That he may have had in his Patriots tenure, so he finally looked pretty good today, but Really? No, no help anywhere else tight ends didn't do much, you know, Mike is sick. He made one nice catch, but Didn't really jump off the page at you and then of course, we'll talk about Devante Parker in a second here, but You know, I think we'll start Mac Jones Up and down performance, you know I mean they definitely kind of talked to him this week and told him he was just going to be a game manager because I didn't see anything, but Yeah, he didn't do any real Improvising or anything? Well actually, you know what he did at one point Yeah So another horrible Interception by Mac Jones no idea what he was trying to do there. I mean, he's trying to do a Patrick Mahomes Throw it back across his body to his favorite tight end Absolutely botched it threw it way too high Henry had no shot at it and goes right into a Raiders guys arm. I Mean to be honest, this is kind of how I felt I Mean yeah that Yeah, that was the one thing Matt couldn't do in this game as far as I was concerned He had to protect the ball. That was a situation where you could go down at least get a field goal Put yourself in a good position to be right in the game And he goes and tries to do a superhero thing as he's tried to do all year and there was an absolutely horrible Interception, I think they showed the graphic at the beginning of the game that him and Jimmy were like leading the NFL in interception, so I Mean just just an inexcusable play by Mac now I will say where I'm gonna give him some credit is he did calm down after that and he really He played extremely conservative, but you got it as you can see by the score You can stay in a game if you play that way now, is it fun to watch? Absolutely, not it was it was not fun to watch but yeah, I did think Mac, you know, obviously he had his one bright moment From the end zone stepping up Jones launches deep I Mean I don't really love everything Tony Romo says but I had to groove him there. It was an absolute dime by Mac Jones probably the best throw I've ever seen him make yeah like into double coverage, but couldn't put the ball in a better spot than where he put it and Again the bummer is it's a guy that you just paid in the offseason a big deal to like stay with the team Devante Parker, it's just you got to make that catch. You're an NFL receiver There's just no excuse for not making that catch, you know as a guy who's making the money that he makes Yeah, he hadn't done anything to that point in the game. He actually created separation downfield, which is for him kind of a miracle and Then to just blow a ball that went right into your hands just hurts and I mean Mac had to just be Besides himself. I mean obviously then the next play ends up being the safety. There might have been a penalty in there, but you know like That that was Mac's moment If we're being honest, you know, that could have been the moment where Mac makes an unbelievable throw He gets him into field goal range, you know, they win the game and Yet, you know we end up losing the game with the safety by four and I Don't know. I feel for Mac from that standpoint Now again, I don't think overall he played particularly. Well, I think it was just a lot of the same stuff We've seen the past couple weeks where he's indecisive You know, the line isn't holding up, but I will say there was a few times in this game I actually thought our line held up relatively well and he took probably like six seconds to get a throw off so there's still a lot of that kind of thing going on here and You know personally, where do I stand on Mac? Yeah, I mean He'll start next week. I don't I don't see a world where he doesn't start Against the bills. I mean, we're gonna get absolutely boat raced in that game. Like it's not even gonna be Competitive because I mean our offense is not gonna be able to move against Buffalo and Vaughn Miller's probably gonna have like eight sacks I mean Crosby, I think was in the backfield on every single play today. So you know, well, we'll talk about that, you know in the upcoming podcast but Yeah, I mean as far as where I'm at with Mac, you know, I I think Personally it would be awesome. If there is a way to You know try to put someone else in there at this point. I just don't think he can move our offense at all I think the product is pretty terrible You know, you got to try to do something different. Yeah, I those plays with Malik Cunningham were kind of awkward. I It wasn't even like I don't even put those on Malik I just thought the timing of some of them were pretty weird Like I really liked the Ezekiel Elliot touchdown play where they had Malik shift out and then did kind of the wildcat with Zeke I thought that was a really cool design But a few of like the RPOs where they just kind of randomly threw him in the game I'm not a huge fan of that just because I think it breaks up the Game like a little bit too much where it's kind of awkward for all the players involved But yeah, I mean the Patriots Lose this game Yeah, defensively. I thought we were solid. I actually thought JC Jackson overall did a pretty good job today So and then Anthony Jennings actually, I mean that guy flies around the field. So I was very impressed with the game that he had But again, you know ends up just not not being enough Which has kind of just been Where this season's trending and you know at one in five Yeah, you got to start to really think about what is it that you want this season to be at this point If you're not gonna I mean, let's be realistic. We're not gonna win the next two games. We're gonna be one in seven Which is very like a sobering thing to say that the Patriots are gonna be a one in seven football team So at that point you have to be really thinking about okay What does next year look like like everything they do from here needs to be Focused on 2024 and how they can set up their team to be in the best position in 2024 and to me that's gonna be probably making some trades with some of these veterans like anyone who has any value you really got to think about moving on from and trying to accumulate as many draft picks as you can because again That's how we're gonna have to build this team is through the draft. So I Don't know. It's gonna be an interesting Week I think yeah had they won that game, you know, I guess maybe they probably could have argued you leave Mac in and keep going I Still think this week. They'll probably take their time to evaluate where they're at is at the quarterback position And I mean, I'm sure they're going to continue to think about all positions here So, I mean I definitely thought was interesting Malik Cunningham ended up being the backup quarterback of choice for today Did not see that one coming Definitely would have been interesting if for some reason they decided to benchmark after that interception What they would have done with Malik because I don't think he really gets any reps at quarterback at practice So no idea what that would have looked like I actually would have been pretty curious to see what that looks like and again the way the season's going I think we're gonna see that but Yeah, that's that's kind of it Patriots are one in five, you know, they Blow The game late as they do. I mean at least I guess they showed a little fight at the end But you know You really got bailed out by a couple penalties is the only reason that they scored that remanderie Stevenson touchdown at the end so Yeah, that's that's kind of that's kind of where we're at. So we'll we'll talk about it more on the upcoming Show in the middle of the week. But yeah So I'll uh, we'll send us out with listening to Homer fall down the stairs just because I don't know That's just kind of how I feel at the Patriots at this point. So here we go Jeez Louise, look at this mess. I told that boy a billion times to pick up his job I Oh
