Nothing to say, yet
The speaker discusses the consequences of committing adultery and highlights the importance of true commitment in marriage and to God. Adultery is seen as a violation of the covenant with God and is irreversible. The speaker emphasizes the need to protect one's eyes from lustful temptations and to flee from circumstances that provoke temptation. Adultery is condemned by God, and those who defile marriage will face judgment. The message concludes with a reminder to stay away from defilement and seek to please God. Welcome to our weekly exhortation. Thank you for joining me. Thank you for your precious time. My name is Gila Milu, Servant of God, Servant of Jesus Christ. In our today's message, we are wondering what happens when we commit adultery. Praise the Lord. In our previous podcast, we talked about how Jesus Christ cares so much about marriage. He deserves marriage to serve as an illustration of the relationship between Christ himself and his church. The fact is that God never intended divorce for the married couple. However, the only reason that divorce could be permitted is in the case of immorality. This means sexual immorality, fornication, unjustity, marital unfaithfulness. For this reason only, divorce could be permitted. If this is so, what then can be the consequences of adultery? In Luke chapter 16 verse 18, the Lord Jesus says, Whosoever put away his wife and married another, saving for the cost of fornication, committed adultery. And whosoever married her that is put away from her husband, committed adultery. This passage, which is a warning from the Lord, describes how men and women can easily commit adultery. For no apparent reason, anyone can commit adultery because he would have married a woman who had previously been put away by her husband. In the same way, any woman who married another man after having left her husband commits adultery. We notice that adultery can be described as the most contagious and defiling sin. Don't you see that many people can fall into this vicious cycle? So what can be the cause of adultery? Well, very often, adultery is due to both lack of true commitment in marriage and in God. In fact, when we are not truly committed to Christ, when we are not truly committed to the Spirit of God, we leave a vacuum that Satan will use against us. Let me remind you that, spiritually, marriage represents the relationship between Jesus and His Church. You know, the sin of adultery is linked to something much deeper, which is the breaking of the covenant with God. Doesn't the apostle James say that, through adultery, we become enemies of God? James chapter 4 verse 4. You see, marriage is much more than just two people agreeing to live together and to be loyal to one another. Marriage is more than just sexuality. In marriage, the couple submits themselves one to the other in the fear of Christ as is written in Ephesians chapter 5 verse 21. That is, they give themselves up to the other as they live day by day in the fear of God. They set out to nourish and cherish the other, even as Christ nourished and cherished the Church. Ephesians chapter 5 verse 39. They work to become part of each other. They seek to become part of each other's flesh, each other's bone. Ephesians chapter 5 verse 30. The meshing together is then the result of a divine intervention. God takes such deliberate purpose and attitude and molds it into the flesh of the other so much so that the two actually become as one body. Friend, while there is no submission and love to each other in a couple, it is obvious that life in a couple would be very difficult, and this situation can lead to a life of fornication. However, the Bible tells us that a life of fornication cannot go unpunished. So in Exodus chapter 20 verse 14 it is written, Thou shalt not commit adultery. Anyone who does, both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death. Leviticus chapter 20 verse 10. You know, the sin of adultery is like the sin against the Holy Spirit and is not pardonable. Why? Why? Because it is a willful violation of commitment of fidelity in marriage. In Proverbs chapter 6 verse 32 to 34, the Lord God warns, He says, But a man who commits adultery has no sin. Yah! He keeps on saying, Whoever does so destroys himself. Blows and disgrace are His law, and His shame will never be wiped away. Praise the Lord! This means His condemnation is irreversible. As soon as adultery is committed, nothing can be done to reverse it. Its effect is immediate and irreversible. One Biblical example is that of David who committed adultery with Bathsheba, the wife of his neighbor Uriah. David's own sin had brought on part of a tragedy that befell him. The law hit him at a very vulnerable spot. The child who was born to him through adultery died. This was made known to David long before it happened. 2 Samuel chapter 12 verse 14. So God has never changed His position regarding the sin of adultery. His decision is final. He says, Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? So is he who sleeps with another man's wife. No one who touches her will go unpunished. Proverbs chapter 6 verse 28. Hallelujah! So how can we avoid falling into the sin of adultery? Well, the gateway to this sin is our eyes. That's why we should protect our eyes from places or things that provoke lust. Friend, if you fill your eyes with evil, you will soon act upon it. It is written, The eye is the length of the body. So then, if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness? Matthew chapter 6 verse 22 to 23. Do you know that even lusting after a married person is an act of adultery? Yes, it is. Remember, David engaged in adultery merely by lusting after his neighbor's wife. But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful hair has already committed adultery with her in his heart. This is from the Lord Jesus. You know, every believer should make a covenant to avoid staring at people or things that may cause him to stumble. Remember Job, the chosen prophet of God. He says, I have made a covenant with my eyes. How then could I gaze at a virgin? Job chapter 31 verse 1. You know, the first look at a person, at a woman, is not the sin. It is the second look or the staring that is sinful. Praise the Lord. To avoid adultery, we should flee from circumstances that provoke temptation. Flee sexual immorality says the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 18. Joseph fled the seduction of the wife of Potiphar. Joseph was the son of the patriot Jacob who was sold into slavery in Egypt. Potiphar put him in charge of his house and everything he owned. Genesis chapter 39 verse 1 to 6. So, God knows that sexual temptations are very hard to resist. And the only alternative he has for us in such situations is to flee as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers. Praise the Lord. Conclusion. In Gabriel chapter 13 verse 4, it is written, Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexual immoral and adulterous. Friend, it is written here that we should regard the marriage bed as something of great value, and we should not be undefiled by immorality or by any sexual sin. Why? Well, because any defilement that touches marriage affects our relationship with God. It undermines the righteousness of God. You know, Jesus cares so much about marriage, and that is why he sets harsh punishment to those who will defile it. Hallelujah. On that awesome day, when the earth grew dark, and the rocks of the fields put in tune, when the Savior cried, it is finished, now I've done what I came here to do. It is finished. We should know that to be a Christian means to keep ourselves as parted from the world, from adultery. Hallelujah. Praise the Lord. Well, we have come to the end of today's message. This topic is a very important topic that we should consider in our daily life. Friend, if you really want to please God, please stay away from defilement. I hope you enjoyed this message. God willing, we will be together next time. Abundant blessings. God bless. The hills proclaim and the rocks cry out, the salvation of man has been won. Everything I need to make him keep me clean, I find in Jesus alone. It is finished, it is finished, every demon and hell understand. It's in Jesus, it's in Jesus, everything for salvation for man. It is finished, it is finished, every demon and hell understand. It's in Jesus, it's in Jesus, everything for salvation for man. Everything for salvation for man. Amen.
