In this message, Gideon Leona discusses the meaning of Jesus' statement to "eat my flesh and drink my blood." He explains that this should be understood from a spiritual perspective, symbolizing the appropriation of Jesus' word and abiding in it. He emphasizes that this does not refer to taking communion, but rather having faith in Jesus. He gives the example of Elijah, who spoke as if he was the author of God's message, showing that when we make God's word our own, we possess His character and authority. Gideon concludes by urging listeners to seek the truth and let the word of God fill their hearts, leading to eternal life and perfect communion with Jesus Christ. Music Welcome to our weekly exaltation Thank you for joining me Thank you for your time My name is Gideon Leona Servant of God Servant of Jesus Christ And the Lord Jesus says Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life And I will raise him up at the last day What would Jesus mean by saying eat my flesh and drink my blood? In the Gospel of the Apostle John The Lord Jesus makes a shocking declaration Which led some of his followers to go back and walk no more with him He says Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life And I will raise him up at the last day John chapter 6 verse 54 What would Jesus mean by saying eat my flesh and drink my blood? Music Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life And I will raise him up at the last day First, let not lose sight of the fact that This declaration has to be understood first and foremost from a spiritual perspective This is the one thing the disciples of Jesus lacked and did wrong to themselves The Lord Jesus says The words that I have spoken unto you are spirit and are life We must know that When Jesus speaks of his flesh and blood He is referring to his word For the word of God is God himself John chapter 1 verse 1 Jesus Christ is the living word that was made flesh John chapter 1 verse 14 By this declaration Jesus is calling us to remain attached to him By appropriating his word and let it abide in us According to John chapter 6 verse 54 To eat the flesh of Jesus and to drink his blood Is a figure of belief which means to appropriate Christ as our life Otherwise, no one will eat what he cannot trust to be edible Isn't it? When we let the word of God penetrate us and abide in us Then we can be sure that we are fed on the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ That is exactly what the apostle John seems to be saying In 1 John chapter 2 verse 24 Jesus Christ declares As for you, let that abide in you which ye heard from the beginning If that which ye heard from the beginning abide in you Ye also shall abide in the Son and in the Father This statement means If we keep what we heard or what we have been taught from the beginning Then we too will abide in the Son and in the Father The apostle Paul too repeated the same to Timothy He says Keep the good thing which was committed unto thee by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 14 We should know that that good thing is the sound doctrine The word of God When we make the word of God our own It becomes part of us forever Thus, we possess the character of God to the point that His attributes come to be incorporated in us We may share at this point the authority of Christ I want to make an aside to say that To eat the flesh and to drink the blood of Jesus Has nothing to do with the table of the Lord in this context For the route to eternal life does not pass through taking the communion But through faith in Jesus That's why it is said He who believes has eternal life John chapter 6 verse 47 Before I conclude Please let me give a practical example of how In his time, a prophet of God abides in God and God in him It is interesting to see how he took the word of God as if it were his own This story can be found in 1 Kings chapter 17 In fact, the prophet Elijah had been given a message by God To deliver to King Ahab God tells him There shall not be dew nor rain these years But according to my word, said the Lord Ahab was king of Israel He did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him So God sent Elijah to tell Ahab that There will be no rain unless he says so Praise the Lord Instead of reporting word for word what God would have him say to Ahab The prophet Elijah talked as if he was the author of the message He said unto Ahab As the Lord, the God of Israel lived, before whom I stand There shall not be dew nor rain these years But according to my word Such daring! Why did Elijah not mention to Ahab that he was sent by God to deliver the message to him? Elijah could have said something like this Thus said the Lord, the God of Israel There shall not be dew nor rain these years But according to my word Again, my question is Why did Elijah substitute for God instead of playing his role as prophet? Can we blame Elijah for appropriating God's word? No, I don't think so We cannot blame Elijah He simply made the message of God his own And God approved it Because Elijah loved God and God was with him God approved Elijah because Because every man who goes for God is in the action of God God says he will confirm the word of his servants Isaiah 44 verse 26 Eating the flesh of Jesus and drinking his blood means to take the word of God as if it were yours As faithful children, God has given us a part of himself to be with us Conclusion In John chapter 6 verse 27 The Lord Jesus tells us not to labor for the meat which perishes But for that meat which endures into everlasting life It is clear that The flesh of Jesus and his blood referred to in this message is not about the food that perish It is about the food that doesn't perish The word of God by excellence Hallelujah To eat the flesh of Jesus and drink his blood is to experience a deep communion with God It is a figure of belief which means to be united with God the Father through Christ As such we have eternal life when we are united with the Lord and when we are one spirit with him According to 1 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 17 It is only when we appropriate the word of God It is only when we let our hearts be filled with the word of God that the kingdom of God will come to us But when we reject the gospel of salvation When we refuse to eat the flesh of Jesus and to drink his blood to internalize it into our souls We will not have eternal life If we are committed to seek the truth at all cost God will in turn reveal to us his word Thank you for your listening This was the last message of this year As we are expecting the new year May the light of God illuminate your ways so that you could enter into perfect communion with him Jesus Christ is that light And I pray that he leads you Abundant blessings Shalom The strength of the Savior Let him have the light Walking in footsteps of gentle forbearance Footsteps of faithfulness, mercy and love Looking to him for the grace freely promised How happy, how happy our journey of love How beautiful to walk in the strength of the Savior Living in the light, living in the light How beautiful to walk in the strength of the Savior Let him have the light How beautiful to walk in the strength of the Savior
