Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a hot topic in Vietnam's education industry. It can enhance teaching and learning by acting as a virtual tutor for students and automating tasks for teachers. However, AI is not widely used in Vietnam and most popular AI applications are foreign. Students can benefit from AI by making education more accessible and affordable, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. AI tools like Gilingual can help improve language skills by detecting mistakes and suggesting replacements. However, there are concerns about overdependence on AI and the potential for mistakes in lessons. It is important to use AI wisely and responsibly, adapting it to our needs and goals. Students should be open-minded, follow school guidelines, and be responsible for monitoring AI's performance. Hello, welcome to our broadcast and today episode, we will discuss Artificial Intelligence. Nowadays, it is becoming a hot topic among educators and seniors, bringing a lot of benefits to both teachers and students. Joining me are three guests, studying in RMIT University, Hanoi. Quyen, Lan Anh and Linh. As they will share their perspectives on the use of AI in Vietnam's education industry. Welcome to the show everyone. It's a pleasure to be here. Thank you for inviting me. And thanks for having me too. So, what is AI and how do we use it to assist us in education? AI is a high technology that can act like human intelligence and help us in many ways of life. Quyen, what do you think of the current state of AI in Vietnam's education industry? How is it impacting the way you learn and teach? Well, I think AI can enhance the teaching and learning process, making it more effective and efficient. For students, it can act like a virtual tutor, which gives learners some tips for their assignment. And for teachers, AI can be used as an autonomous tool. We can have them to generate some time-consuming tasks like grading, checking attendance or feedback for students. Wow, that sounds amazing. Well, I have a different opinion. I think AI is not widely used in Vietnam's education industry. Some of the well-known AI applications are mostly foreign, such as Bing AI, ChatGBT or Grammarly. According to Hoai Son Nguyen, director of the Vietnam Institute of AI, Vietnam has witnessed a lack of human resources or AI, leading to changes for foreign firms to invest in our market. And I think these platforms are not really suitable for the Vietnamese context. Thank you for your sharing. So, you guys have a different thought about the use of AI in Vietnam's education industry. Lan Anh, how can students benefit from AI? For me, AI can make education more accessible and affordable. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, we had to get used to online learning and AI offers a lot of benefits for us. I've read a journal about RMAT and college, stating that AI allows us to access learning from different places. That sounds impressive. What did you learn when using AI tools and what are the tools that you use? Previously, I used Gilingual, an online learning English app to practice and improve my speaking skills. Since it uses AI to detect pronunciation mistakes and suggest replacements, AI can bring many opportunities to education. However, it can also bring some difficulties. I agree with you, Lan Anh. And I think one of the disadvantages of AI is when the majority of work is being automated. Students might be lazy and dependent on this technology. According to Osipos and Uly Mufa, today's AI is not precisely perfect with some errors remaining in the system. Therefore, there is a potential risk of mistakes in lessons and this can lead to misunderstanding in students. Yeah, I agree with you. I think the key is to use AI wisely and responsibly to pattern this with human beings. That's very insightful. Each of you have different views and concerns on the use of AI in Vietnam's education industry. Besides, I think the main challenge is to control and use AI ethically and to adapt it to our needs and goals. Also, I think we need to be open-minded about AI possibilities and limitations. Don't be afraid to try new things and learn new skills. I would also recommend them to follow principles and guidelines of the schools while using AI. Students also need to be responsible with their work. They need to monitor AI's performance in their assignments and our study too. Thank you for your great advice. I want to thank our guests for joining us and sharing their knowledge on using AI in Vietnam's education industry. Also, I want to thank our listeners for listening to this podcast. This is Linh, Lan Lan, Quynh and Linh. See you next time. Thank you.
