Shapes are the first step in drawing realistic images. Everything is made out of shapes, like a raindrop which can be represented by a circle and a triangle. To make it more realistic, you can add value by adding light and dark shading. By the end of the lesson, you'll be able to turn shapes into realistic forms. This concept is important when you are learning to draw because it is the first step to creating more realistic images. Have you noticed everything is made out of shapes? For example, think of a raindrop. What shapes do you see? When I think of a raindrop, I see a circle and a triangle. If you want to add dimension and make it more of a realistic raindrop, the next step would be to add value. Value is adding light and dark shading that makes the shape look more realistic. By the end of this lesson, you will be able to turn shapes into realistic looking forms just like I did with the raindrop.
