A solar storm on Thursday will give people in 17 American states a chance to see the Northern Lights. Normally seen in Alaska, Canada, and Scandinavia, the lights will be visible farther south due to a solar cycle peaking in 2024. The states where the lights will be visible are Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Indiana, Maine, and Maryland.
