The speaker is excited because they retired from teaching and are starting a podcast called "It's a Binghamton Thing". They mention their favorite scene from a movie and talk about how growing up in Binghamton makes you a local legend. They share a story about driving kids to church and getting an extra set of car keys. They encourage listeners to subscribe to their podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever they listen to podcasts. They believe it will be a lot of fun. So I'm wicked excited. That's what we say here in Binghamton. So I retired from teaching and I'm going to make a podcast. It's kind of crazy, but I don't feel like knitting another sweater. So here I am. My all-time favorite scenes in the movie is when Tommy, Joe Pesci, goes to get made. And not the scene. They kill him, obviously. He doesn't know it until the last minute. He thinks he's going to get made. Welcome to the podcast, It's a Binghamton Thing. Hot takes on pop culture, beauty, and local legends. Let's talk if you've grown up in Binghamton, you are a local legend. I was 16 years old. I had a New York State driver's license. And they asked me if I wanted to be a driver to the kids to church on Sunday. A big mistake on their part. Because the first thing I did was drive the kids to church, dropped them off and went down to Doyle's drugstore and got an extra set of keys made for the car. Go to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts and subscribe to It's a Binghamton Thing. I think it's going to be so much fun.
