I'm your host Josue Llorena. And the second episode starts with Joe and Ellie begin to hike to meet with Bill and Frank. Ellie sees evidence of the government's execution of innocents due to the early days of the pandemic. Back in 2007, Frank lived in Baltimore and stumbled across Bill's compound. A paranoid survivor reluctantly takes him in. The men begin a romance sharing a love of music and food. Years later, Frank contacts Bill via radio, and the two groups develop a love affair. I won't talk about it to any bums or hobos or vagabonds, I promise. You already know I'm bad at lying. Years later, Frank contacts Bill via radio, and the two groups develop a tenuous friendship. In the present, Frank asks Ignace and Bill to help him with his suicide after they get married. But Bill, not wanting to live without Frank, also commits suicide. When Joe and Ellie arrive, they discover a letter Bill left for Joe. Bill wrote that protecting Frank gives his life meaning, and that he has bequeathed all of his supplies to Joe. Unbeknown to Joe, Ellie takes Frank's call. So they're dead? Mm-hmm. August 29, 2023. If you find this, please do not come into the bedroom. We left the window open so the house wouldn't smell. It would probably be a sight. I'm guessing you found this, Joel, because anyone else would have been electrocuted or blown up by one of my traps. Take anything you need. The bunker code is the same as the gate code, but in reverse. Anyway, I never liked you. But still, it's like we're friends. Almost. And I respect you. So I'm going to tell you something, because you're probably the only person who will understand. I used to hate the world, and I was happy when everyone died. But I was wrong. Because there was one person worth saving. That's what I did. I saved him. And I protected him. That's why men like you and me are here. We have a job to do. I leave you all of my weapons and equipment. And later on, they take Bill's truck and set out to find Tommy. Traveling through Missouri, Joel and Ellie are forced to take a detour to Kansas City, where they are ambushed. Joel killed two of the bandits, but a third overpowered him and nearly shot him to death before Ellie saved him by shooting the man with Fran's pistol. More bandits found the bodies. The leader, Kathleen, believed Joel and Ellie might be in contact with a man named Henry and ordered a manhunt. Joel counseled Ellie about the firefight and gave her the pistol back. Kathleen's second command very thinks he has found Henry's hideout. But something is growing under the building. Kathleen orders it to be kept secret until Henry is found. Joel and Ellie sleep in a high-rise apartment at night, hoping to find a way out of the city in daylight. They wake up to find Henry and his younger brother Sam holding them at gunpoint. Joel. Joel! Joel. Eyes on me. Eyes on me. You don't have to worry about what to say. We don't want to hurt you. We want to help you. Okay. Okay, um... I don't know what the next step is with something like this, but if I lower my gun, we didn't hurt you, so you don't hurt us. Right? That's right. That's a weird fucking tone, man. That's just the way he sounds. He has an asshole voice. Joel's telling me he's okay. Everything is great. Dude! Fuck! Okay, listen. I'm gonna trust you. Thank you for listening. See you all in the next episode.
