The Austin City Limits Music Festival is a popular event held in Austin, Texas every year. It features musical groups from various genres performing on eight stages. The festival started in 2002 and expanded to two consecutive weekends in 2013. It has a significant impact on Austin's culture and showcases the artistic talent of Texas. The festival encourages self-expression through music, art, and fashion. The upcoming festival will take place in October 2024 at Zilker Park and promises a great lineup of artists. What's up guys and welcome to your favorite podcast. This is your host Jolie McGuire, and today we're going to be featuring Austin City Limits Music Festival. So I'm sure you're probably wondering what is Austin City Limits and what is the music festival that you're talking about. Well, ACL Festival is a music festival that's held in Austin, Texas every year. It basically has eight stages where musical groups from genres including rock, indie, country, folk, electronic, and hip-hop all come and perform. So I'm sure you're probably wondering why and what is it about ACL Music Festival that makes it such a big deal in such a large community. In 2002, the festival began as a one-weekend event, and it remained that way through 2012. After 2012, the Austin City Council members voted unanimously to allow the Austin City Limits Music Festival to expand to having two consecutive weekends beginning in 2013 where they bring in all of these amazing artists and musical talented people, and they bring them in and they sing and perform in front of millions of people. And it's a really big event, and it's so much fun, and it is such a huge impact on why Austin is what it is, and it really shows the artist point of view that comes from the state of Texas and the city of Austin in general. There are three guys who founded the ACL Music Festival, and that's Bill Arhos, Bruce Scalf, and Paul Bosner. Beginning in 1990, Austin City Limits was broadcasted through Dolby Surround and continued until 1999. From 1976 to 2004, the show was broadcast on NTSC. This festival draws so many people because of the way that you can express yourself when you're there. Kind of like Coachella, ACL Music Festival brings people out of their shell through music, through art, through personality, and my favorite part about it is 100% getting to see how everyone just expresses themselves through fashion and art and music and all of these things, and it really will bring a community closer together because I can tell you from experience, ACL Music Festival is something where everyone has a good time, hangs out, gets to enjoy all of the things, all of the food, all of the experiences, all of the loud music, and all of the Austin vibes that are brought through the art that is at ACL Music Festival. So with all of that being said, ACL Fest returns October 4th through 6th and 11th through 13th. This year, 2024, located at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas, I promise you do not want to miss it. Last year, the lineup included artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Shania Twain, The 1975, Alanis Morissette, and plenty of other huge artists that I promise you will not want to miss, and I'm sure the lineup will be just as good, if not better, for 2024.
