The speaker discusses various topics during the podcast. They mention that there is a reliable source of information about production numbers at the plant, but it is slightly out of business due to the information being posted online. They also talk about the possibility of a strike and the union president's strong stance on negotiations. The speaker mentions their own experience working at the plant for 27 years and talks about the upcoming production of Rangers. They also discuss the importance of living within one's means and finding ways to save money, such as growing their own vegetables. The speaker emphasizes the importance of quality control and encourages employees to speak up if they notice any issues. They also provide contact information for quality representatives. Lastly, the speaker reminds listeners to take care of themselves while working, especially in hot conditions. They sign off by wishing everyone a nice weekend. hey guys shop talk today man I should do like a different thing for shop talk this is socks this is my podcast that had about seven different people including one from work you know asking me if I have one like well I got one and I want to get it moving but shop talk we had a guy a couple of years ago he went to another plant and he called himself the reporter we called him that he doesn't report for us he's not part of Michigan Assembly now we got another guy that gives out some reliable information and he would tell us how many numbers you know we're building you know per shift per day and then they started posting it on the on the website so that put him slightly out of business but he tells us some other interesting things okay my qualifications have been here 27 years all and Wayne local 900 hired in Michigan truck they moved us all next door and we were at Wayne Assembly and now they moved us all back we're Michigan Assembly start building a new focus and after that Ranger Bronco let's go 27 years I've been around a lot of buildings currently I'm in the tire hole B crew and I'm gonna stay there for a little bit maybe but hey um we're doing less hours yeah we want more hours hang tight people these Rangers are coming that we're going to be building there's a rumor out that um by the end of this month we'll be back to 10 hour days so we'll just say September but then there's that possible strike this union president dude he he's pulling no punches he's going straight to the table and when they would negotiate at the negotiating table there excuse me for new contracts usually it's management that comes up with some outrageous deal that we they got to say oh heck no and that would be it that before all that happens they're going to come around and ask for a strike vote yes or no you willing to strike and usually it's like any upper 90 percent for each plant yes and this guy's pulling no punches companies getting record profits I'm glad we got profit sharing and all this should show you know in our profit-sharing checks these record profits because we on the floor were the ones that are putting these things together and when the company started over a hundred years ago mr. Ford then you know paid everybody a living wage and he says that the people should be able to afford to buy what they build well looking at the price tags of the Broncos I can't afford to buy one so and Rangers are coming learn to live on your paycheck now and when the more money comes in put that extra money somewhere invest it test feed do something with it but learn to live on a little I'm going to a farmer's market to go buy some veggies my family we're growing vegetables at each other's houses and we just get together and share I'm gonna go pick up some cucumbers shortly so it's you know less money I got to spend at the farmers market and grocery stores so get off early day shift enjoy your family night shift be crew you know you can you can adjust your sleep schedule and wake up a little earlier and enjoy your family I've been on B crew I got hired in on C crew Friday Saturday morning Sunday morning night shift and then we lost that went to B crew we got it back doing new focus I stayed on B crew I went to a crew for a couple years and medically I got placed on a job and the lowest seniority at that job was night shift so I'm back and here I am well I'm a widower of over seven years so I can go to day shift if I want to and nothing stopping me I'm just you know finding reasons to stay on night shift and right now the night shift people are it I might wait just a couple months so yeah adjust your sleep schedule B crew you got this enjoy more time with your family take them to a park fire pit do something that doesn't cost a lot of money now we got a bulletin recently I got it right here and it's torn in half but there's a part on here I mean don't know if you've seen it or anything about our quality let me see where's that come on now we know I know it's here benefits rep open house can't make it I got a birthday party to go to UAW standards rep oh here we go stages for rebalance ongoing tooling and job changes throughout the plant for the launch of the Ranger frame line will have the biggest one but it says please make sure that your OIS sheet is up-to-date it's just your job description if you don't agree with that they will you know if you were just refused to sign but they will write RTS on it I'm not going to do that anymore and I'm not going to write RTS I'm going to take out a nice big old black marker and write really big on it I might write a letter refuse to sign because of this but don't run on your job it says here if you can't complete your job in a time and space given please allow the end in process whatever that is if there are any issues or problems with your job or workstation notified team leader committee person ASAP and it says you can also contact our your standards rep yeah um Doran white or income short anyway um his phone number seven three four six four one five seven eight six and what I also tell you to do not ship junk down the line I don't even see where they list it this time around they didn't oh here we go do not buy off concern on a vehicle you've not made repaired or seen repaired don't make don't take it don't make it don't pass it on it says here oh goodness if there's any violation of any procedures contact your committee person or quality reps and they give out their their names and numbers Walter on days of seven three four four six seven zero two eight one or Mike on night shift seven three four four six seven zero two four five if you have any quality issues or questions concerns call them if something's already passed tell them the rotation number the day what happened if you can't get a hold of those guys call across the street call the Union Hall and tell them hey I got a problem I you know and I need to get a hold of this person and I can't seem to get a hold of them I've done that before on a quality issue couldn't couldn't get through to the quality guy couldn't leave a message wasn't answering his phone so I just said oh I'm gonna wait until I wake up and then I'm gonna call across the street and then they got a hold of the quality guy for me and I made that complaint to his face I can't get a hold of you if I can't no one else can so take them on their word on it quality stuff there was a years ago we had a superintendent we were building the XL T's for the expedition a navigator and we had problems part problems we didn't have the right carpets and you know those jobs that wasn't assigned yet to some people and so we were stopping everywhere out and trim and finally the superintendent pulled us all aside and he says can we build the perfect truck and somebody asked is this a trick question because you know we keep being told ship it you know and he says no no no and I'll never forget these words this guy's name was Nick he said you are the experts on your jobs if you can't build it don't ship it now they gave us calendars at the beginning of the end of last year if you don't have yours get a notepad get a pen or make a little verbal note on your phone something you know that says you know rotation number and what happened I like you know you can't they say you can't do video but you can go on your phone and hit the little camera and hit video and you don't need to take a video just do an audio and it's a real quick note and you can you got a record of it later on you know that whoever shifted you know instead of you because we had problems with the new focuses there was parts that came in that were bad and they told the team lead they stopped the line the operator she stopped the line told a team leader told the supervisor supervisor said great what rotation numbers okay now we're going to ship those yeah we're going to ship those we'll catch them in the garage and guess what it wasn't caught in the garage and made it out of the yard and made it to dealerships some did and what happened is you know downtown came back to the plant and that one operator she said hey I got it written right here this day these rotation numbers I told the team leader team leader can say hey I told the supervisor and it's out of their hands they covered their own butts so we got to do this quality stuff shorter hours family time be safe on the jobs hydrate if you feel like you're a being subject to overcome by the heat step away from the line or if you're going to pass out make sure your head doesn't hit something sharp on the way down which meanings you would rather step away from the job because nobody is no team leader no supervisor is going to come by and say hey you look like you need to sit down if you or someone next to you being over overwhelmed from the heat study the symptoms have somebody sit down hit the light anyway this is socks I'm off work tonight be crew you got this I'll see you all Monday and have a nice weekend
