Gabriela is a 15-year-old hosting her first podcast about the perspective of teens. She shares her goals as a competitive horse rider and as an individual, including starting a business. Being a teen today is challenging due to politics and culture, making it hard to stand out without facing criticism. She believes that the people you surround yourself with influence your personal growth. Gabriela discusses the benefits and drawbacks of traditional and online schooling, highlighting the importance of social interaction. She mentions a Discord server that connects students from her school. Gabriela talks about her best friend who flies planes and her close friends who have been supportive. She plans to discuss her struggles in the next episode. Hello, my name is Gabriela. This is my first podcast on the teen's perspective. I will be your host and I Will eventually bring other teens on here to give their perspective on certain things and I will interview them a Little bit about me as I'm 15 years old. I am a junior in school. I do online school. I ride horses competitively I jump those horses over jumps and Have many goals in my riding career and also as an individual my goals as a horse rider is to be on the Olympic team and represent the US and I also hope to ride in the World Cup circuit. I have some goals that are more in Reach currently, which would be competing in certain metal finals and Just other things like that that are a little more reachable as a 15-year-old some of my individual goals would be to start a business and find my friends who really support me and Who want to encourage me to better my business? What's it like being a teen in today's world? It's very different for sure As I mentioned earlier I do do online school, so I can't really compare myself to Most teens because I don't traditionally go to school Therefore, I don't really have much to compare to but I would say that I Would say it's very hard being a teen today just because of all the politics and the culture today It's very hard to stand out and do good without getting shame for it which is very unfortunate because there are some very good people out there and Unfortunately, those good people get treated badly because people see good as bad Which is just unfair. I find that most teens who've gone to traditional school Can have good outcomes and bad outcomes bad experiences and good experiences so I think it all just depends on your friend group who you hang out with and who you just Really choose to spend your time with if you choose to spend your time with bad people You're going to become that person That hangs out with bad people and you're going to become That person that hangs out with bad people and you're going to become said bad person and If you hang out with good people who are smart and who do good things you're going to become a better person if you hang out with people who are You know, let's say more successful Then you are more likely to learn And better yourself because they are successful and you look up to them and that is a good thing to be around Now if we're talking about school School could be very hard traditionally and online both have benefits and both have Not like things that aren't benefits such as in traditional school yeah, you get your education, but at the same time there's things that can be disappointing and Things that Can hurt people and Things that just shouldn't happen at a school And that's where online is just safer and better You're still learning But you don't have to worry about certain things which is good because You can focus on what your goals are in traditional school you have social life And that's great. You go to class with people you meet new people And it can teach you many things with online school. You don't really get that especially with an independent study you have to learn to be social and that's where I am very grateful that students from my school made a Discord server that brought students together and were able to Talk and play games which I haven't done yet, which I should do But it's just very It's a very good way to meet other people Even though it's online And these people are good they They all have dreams and goals which are great to share and I will bring some of them on here and I will Interview them and maybe we'll do a group interview in traditional school, you can get people who make discord servers, but It's not likely that everybody's gonna know about it. And yeah, not everybody at my school knows about it But if I meet somebody who's from my school and doesn't know about it, i'll invite them And I'm sure other students and my other students as well, I believe there's about 60 of us on the server and I don't go on it daily because I am really busy But I'm going to start working on Being more connected with these people, but I did meet my best friend over it which If you're listening to this, hi she has big goals and she flies planes, which is Very cool, and I appreciate her hard work ethic and I love watching her chase her dreams Since we're on the topic of friends. Let me talk about a few of my friends. I have a few close friends that I appreciate a lot and That have done some serious Things for me that have been helpful one of the first People that i'm going to talk about Is somebody I see very often she Is very sweet. She's very outgoing. She is old. She's younger than me and She She rides horses as well. She has a strong work ethic And she's very focused on what she wants And She really just chases her dreams and I love that about her She's a good person to be around and she's very uplifting the next friend i'm going to talk about is One that's a bit older She is going off to college if you're listening to this. Hi. I love you, and i'm gonna miss you She is great. I love her. She's absolutely amazing. She's helped me through practically everything She's been through Everything with me And I appreciate her for everything. She's done for me I don't think I could thank her enough my third Slash fourth friend because I did mention one before I started talking about friends She also rides horses and She's Very sweet. She was originally from A traditional school and I told her about mine She switched over to mine and now She just shows a very strong work ethic We don't talk a lot And when we do talk we just pick up right where we left off. She's somebody who I trust and Somebody that I love seeing We could spend hours on the phone like hours on end and Whether we're doing nothing or talking about Some things that happened or Just really anything. She's just somebody I can talk to I do have a few guy friends who I am semi-close with and I appreciate them and they have also helped me through a few things but these are the four friends that Been there since day one and who have been through almost everything with me because they know me at a more meaningful level and these people are truly who Support me most and show that Every time now, I wasn't planning on making this episode long. So i'm gonna finish that here thank you for listening and The second episode is going to be a little bit more about my struggles and I hope you join the next one. That was a teen's perspective
