Gypsy Rose Blanchard was born to parents Dee Dee and Rod. Dee Dee lied about her age and they got married, but separated soon after Gypsy was born. Dee Dee claimed that Gypsy had health issues, including sleep apnea and lazy eye. Gypsy's pediatrician suspected Munchausen by proxy. Dee Dee's own mother, Emma, spoiled her and stole money. Gypsy's education was limited and she was homeschooled. Dee Dee fabricated Gypsy's medical conditions, including leukemia, and shaved her head. Gypsy's cousin Bobby revealed that Dee Dee poisoned her stepmother, Laura May, with Roundup. Gypsy also accused her father of sexual abuse. After Hurricane Katrina, they moved to Missouri and continued to see doctors who relied on Dee Dee's information. Tests showed no signs of Gypsy's supposed illnesses. This is episode 6 of the Melting Pot of Crime, Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Gypsy Rose Alcita Blanchard was born on July 27th, 1991 in Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Claudine Petra was 23 and Rod was 17 and still in high school when she was born. So Dee Dee told Rod that she was 21. So all for it, their relationship was based on a lie. They had only been dating for about 3 months when she told them that she was pregnant. They got married and separated while Dee Dee was still pregnant. Rod said that he woke up on his 18th birthday and was like, What am I doing here? Like he knew he didn't want to be in a relationship anymore. So Rod said that when Gypsy was about 3 or 4 months old, Dee Dee said that she would stop breathing, that Gypsy would stop breathing in her sleep, and that she had sleep apnea after getting her tested. So Dr. Robert Steele, who was Gypsy's pediatrician since 2005 after they left Louisiana, said that her first surgery was before Gypsy even turned 1 to correct her lazy eye. So she had strabismus, which is the same thing as lazy eye. So if it wasn't corrected in time, she could have eventually gone blind. He thinks this is what started the Munchausen by proxy. So as the youngest of 6, Dee Dee's mom, Emma Peacher, babied her until she died. Anything Dee Dee wanted, she got it. Dee Dee's father, Claude, said that Emma stole about $3,000 or $4,000 from his father, and he lost count how many times Emma had to go to court for shoplifting. So Claude's wife, Laura May, said that Emma would steal people's clothes at the Washeteria. Same thing as a laundromat. So as Emma lay in the bed dying, she told Dee Dee that she was hungry, and Dee Dee wouldn't give her any food. And she also didn't bathe her. Like, your mom is laying in the bed. You can tell that she's dying. She's hungry and dirty, and you just going about your business. That's evil. Like, that's very sickening. Once Emma died on June 9, 1997, Dee Dee would move around to different projects, and her family never knew where her and Gypsy lived. So Gypsy's stepmom, Christy, asked one of Dee Dee's sisters if she thought that Did you think Dee Dee had anything to do with your mom's death? And the sister said, Well, now I wonder. So ever since Gypsy was an infant, Dee Dee would say that she had health issues like muscular dystrophy. So Christy said that when Gypsy was old enough to go to school, she didn't last long in school because Dee Dee was afraid that they wouldn't give her medications. So Dee Dee pulled her out of school. And Gypsy said that she only got to, like, second grade. Then she was homeschooled after that. So there was a motorcycle accident with Claude when she was about five years old. She got a scrape on her leg and her knee, and Dee Dee had a leg brace put on her. So she brought in a wheelchair and told her that she needed to use it for about a week. Gypsy said a week turned into a month, which turned into months and then years. Dee Dee had a warrant out for her arrest on November 7th, 1997, for writing a bad check. Laura said that Dee Dee wrote bad checks in Slidell and in New Orleans and probably other cities as well. So according to Dee Dee's older brother, Evans, there was a birthday party one day. And the kids were jumping on the trampoline outside. And when Dee Dee went to the store, Gypsy asked if she could jump too. So when Dee Dee got back, Gypsy just dropped. Like, immediately. Dee Dee started yelling, like, what are you doing? Don't you know she's crippled? He replied, well, we've all seen different. So Dee Dee pulled her off of the trampoline, put her in the wheelchair, rolled her back into the house, and kept her inside for the rest of the day. Evans said that Dee Dee had maxed out two of Emma's credit cards after she had already been dead for more than a year. So Gypsy said that Dee Dee told her that Rod was happy with Christy, that he has a new baby girl, and he doesn't have time for them. When Rod and Christy would ask Gypsy what she wanted for her birthday or Christmas, she would always say, nothing but love. Then Dee Dee would get on the phone and say to get her Disney princess stuff. In 1998, Dee Dee told the family that Gypsy was diagnosed with leukemia. So according to the doctors, they thought that she was five years old because Dee Dee had changed her birth certificate the year to say 1993 instead of 1991. Her family, like, immediately, they were skeptical, like the wheelchair situation, until they saw that the medication was making her hair fall out and Dee Dee was shaving Gypsy's head. So Dee Dee told her that her hair was going to fall out anyway, so she might as well make it nice and neat. To cover her bald head, Gypsy would always wear either a wig or a hat. Usually it was like a cosplay wig. No, all the time it was a cosplay wig. Documents showed that Gypsy had a fear of eating, and Dee Dee told the doctors that she wasn't getting enough calories, so a feeding tube was put in. When the producers for, I think it was the Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, that's a Lifetime Ducky series, they brought it up to Gypsy and she said, I never had a fear of eating. So there's a lot of stuff that she was finding out, like stuff that she never saw that was in the medical records. So Gypsy's cousin Bobby, who was Dee Dee's nephew, he said about a year after Emma died is when Claude married Laura May. So Dee Dee was very upset about their marriage, to say the least, and felt like her mother was being replaced. Typically, most people would feel like that. Your parent passes and then your other parent gets remarried. So when Claude and Gypsy were hanging out, she saw Roundup, which is a weed and grass color, and she said, oh, that's the vitamins my mom gives to Grandma Laura May. So she told him that when he would go to work, Dee Dee would cook and put Roundup in Laura's food. So Laura was bedridden for about nine months because she was so sick. So Dee Dee and Laura had a huge argument to the point where Laura said she didn't want her at the house anymore. So after they left, Laura died on August 3rd, 2018. Bobby said that it was a slow and painful death, more than likely because of all of the Roundup that was in her system. In 2000, Dee Dee and Gypsy got into an accident and Dee Dee's foot was almost completely severed off. While she was in the hospital, Gypsy was staying with Claude and Laura. She would eat everything that everybody else was eating and without the feeding tube. So Gypsy said that while she was staying with Claude and Laura, Claude would take her out of her wheelchair and take her to a closet or his shed in the back of the house and, quote, perform sexual acts on her. So she said that he would touch her and make her touch him. When he was asked about it, he said that, of course, that never happened and that she would be the one who would try to touch him when she was four years old. What? Of course, like when somebody's being asked about it, like they're, of course, he's going to deny it. Like I wasn't expecting anything else. I wasn't expecting him to say, yep, I did it. They don't fucking do that shit. About a year after Dee Dee came home from the hospital, Gypsy told her like a little bit about what happened while she was staying with Claude and Laura. Dee Dee cried and she blamed herself. When Hurricane Katrina hit on August 23, 2005, it ruined their home. So they stayed in a shelter for at least like a month and a half. Dee Dee spoke with a woman at the shelter who got them put in a helicopter and sent to Springfield, Missouri. So this is where they were living afterwards. So this is when they started seeing Dr. Steele. He said that Dee Dee was the sole source of information, but because Dee Dee couldn't give the diagnosis nor how long Gypsy was on the treatment, he said that that was a red flag thing. So like to what extent can you trust what the parent is telling you, especially when there aren't any like records to back it up? Because she conveniently used Hurricane Katrina to say, oh, it got lost. I don't know where it is. So I can't give you any like accurate information. Like, I don't know. I just feel like everybody failed her, honestly. He said when Dee Dee couldn't remember the cancer diagnosis, they did a test. So he's like, OK, well, since we don't have anything on record, we'll just make new records. So when the results came back normal with no sign of cancer, they thought, OK, well, maybe she's in remission. So Dee Dee said that she had muscular dystrophy. He said it looked like it on the outside, just simply because she was in a wheelchair. And of course, Dee Dee told Gypsy not to move her legs prior to the doctor's visits. So he referred her to a neurologist, Dr. Bernardo Flasterstein. So he said that Dee Dee told him that Gypsy had epilepsy, muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy. So he asked her for her medical records. Of course, again, she said they were ruined in Katrina. So this made him also have to base everything on what Dee Dee said. So they saw him on August 21st, 2007. According to a document that he sent, he immediately put, quote, the mother is not a good historian. Obviously, Gypsy had to stay in the NICU for four months because she was born a little before Dee Dee was eight months pregnant. So she was small, wasn't eating well and had fevers. I saw on, I think it was a home video that she weighed seven pounds, one ounce when she was born. That's not small. My baby was six pounds, one ounce when I had her. She wasn't small. Seven pounds, one ounce, that's not small. So I think what, of course, what Dee Dee was telling them was, they were all lies. But even to the birth weight, that was a lie, what she was telling the doctors. So she had multiple ear infections and got a tympanoplasty, I think is how you pronounce it, which is surgery to close holes in the eardrum. So they saw him again on November 6, 2007. He decided to run new tests and after examination, her muscles and reflexes were, of course, normal. So he didn't see why she couldn't walk. So he got an MRI done of her spine and everything again was normal. So in that same document, he said since her last visit in August, he spoke with her previous neurologist who very vividly remembered Gypsy and reported that she did not have muscular dystrophy. And she also said that when she confronted Dee Dee about the complaints, they moved to a different city. And this is, this was, Dee Dee had that tendency to do that. So anytime that somebody had any type of suspicion or was even asking too many questions about Gypsy's so-called conditions, she would move and basically keep that person limited to what information they get. So he also put in this document, there's a strong possibility of Munchausen by proxy. He said that he told Gypsy to stand up and she did. And when he told Dee Dee that she should be walking, Dee Dee got so mad and yelled, that's not true. Rolled Gypsy out and told him that she wasn't coming back. He said he didn't report her to CPS that she had Munchausen by proxy because he felt like he needed more proof. And of course, she would say that he was lying about it without that proof. So when producers from the prison confessions told Gypsy about this incident, she said that she didn't recall that happening. And she said, I'm not saying he's lying, but if I stood up in any office, I would have had my ass chewed out and that didn't happen. So Dee Dee took Gypsy to an ear, nose and throat specialist for excessive drooling, which is more common in people with CP, Cerebral Palsy. Gypsy said Dee Dee would put oral gel in her mouth prior to the doctor visits and it would make her drool because her mouth would be numb. So her salivary glands were removed and the surgery made her teeth fall out and some of them had to be removed. So she said that she has 16 teeth left. The Olay Foundation that advocates for people with feeding tubes, they honored Gypsy as their 2007 Child of the Year. So Gypsy knew all along that she could walk and that she didn't need the feeding tube. But she just went along with it because her mom was telling her to do it and just go along with it. So the next year Habitat for Humanity built them a home with a wheelchair ramp and a hot tub for Gypsy's muscles at 2103 West Volunteer Way. So they moved there. Their story ended up getting media attention locally so the community would donate to them. At this time, Dee Dee started going by Quadenia Blanchard. So she added an A at the end of her first name and an E at the end of her last name. So the whole thing was pronounced differently. So because of Gypsy's soft, high-pitched voice, her 4'11 height, almost toothless smile, and her huge glasses, nobody had any reason to think that they were being lied to. So Dr. Steele said that over time, his nurse brought him three documents on Gypsy. All three of them had different dates of birth on them. They all had the same month and day, so July 27th, but they each had a different year. So there was 1991, which is the original, the accurate one, 1993, and 1995. So the nurse admitted that she was really concerned at this point. And Dr. Steele said that he was concerned that Gypsy was kidnapped, so he called DFS. So when they were at the house, of course, they interviewed Dee Dee and Gypsy in separate rooms. And they asked her if she had any bruises on her and who that woman in the other room was to her. So I guess they didn't see anything out of the ordinary because they left. And Dr. Steele called Dee Dee and told her to bring Gypsy in. So he asked her if anybody from the state came, and she said yes. So he told her that he wanted her to know he was the one who called them. So he asked her to go into another room while he spoke to Gypsy alone. He said that she, of course, Dee Dee was hesitant, but she did go into another room. He asked her, Gypsy, if everything was okay and if she had anything to tell him, anything to talk to him about. She said no, and that she and her mom loved each other. So he was like, alright. He still had the same concerns, but he felt like he did all that he could do. So after that visit from DFS, Dee Dee put tints on the windows so that nobody could see inside and Gypsy couldn't see outside. So Dee Dee usually took an oxygen tank and a feeding tube with them whenever they left the house. She would always have Gypsy take a doll or a stuffed animal with her when they went to the doctor's offices. So she'd tell her to just stay in the wheelchair, play with the doll or the animal, and don't move your legs. So even though she was in her 20s, Gypsy was still drinking Pediatrics. On the website, yes I looked on the website, shut up, it says from ages 2 to 13 years old. Even if she had an actual birth year of 1995, she was still way too old to be drinking some Pediatrics. So Dee Dee told Devon that Gypsy had a chromosomal disorder that messes up the development of her muscles and her digestive system and that she wouldn't live to be 20 years old. Like, is this what you're telling her father is? Something was really wrong with her, like mentally. And that shit is crazy. So Rhonda was in Gypsy's life at first until Dee Dee just kept moving further and further away. And would try to break up their father-daughter relationship because their families were suspicious. And Dee Dee didn't want to take that chance that her cover would be blown if people asked too many questions. So one of Dee Dee's sisters told Devon, Gypsy can walk. When he asked Dee Dee about it, she said, well sometimes she can walk if her leg's feeling good, but with her MD, it's progressing and it's going to get worse. So Rod and Christy would often try to visit and bring Gypsy gifts. So Christy said that when they would make plans to visit Springfield, Dee Dee wouldn't respond to calls or texts. Then finally, she would reply weeks later and say that Gypsy was in the hospital. She was just adamant that she had to be by her side 24-7. And she always held Gypsy's hand whenever they were around other people and she would squeeze it whenever she would say anything that may make her seem older or that she wasn't sick. So if you look at like any clip, just about every single clip, if it's like an interview, Dee Dee is always holding Gypsy's hand. And when they were alone, if Dee Dee had to squeeze Gypsy's hand, when they were alone, she would slap her or hit her with a coat hanger. And Dee Dee changed Gypsy's birth year to 1995 so that she would still be looked at as a minor. In an interview when she got older, Gypsy said that she didn't know how old she really was, like for a long time. Dee Dee would tell people, like including the doctors, that her original birth certificate was ruined in Katrina. Anytime anybody asked her about her medical records, that's what Dee Dee would say. But she did in fact keep a copy of the original birth certificate, the one that had the accurate year of 1991. So Gypsy saw it one time when they were in the hospital and she also saw her real date of birth on her Medicaid card. So she was confused on the year, so she asked her mother about it and she told her that it was a typo. Rod called Gypsy for her 18th birthday and Dee Dee told him, don't let her know that she's 18. So he asked like, what do you mean, it's a big deal. And she said, well she doesn't know that she's 18. He thought that was weird. So he said that he kept paying child support even after Gypsy turned 18 because he thought she was disabled. Because that's what Dee Dee was telling him. So Dee Dee told everyone that Gypsy had epilepsy. She was vision and hearing impaired. She had GRE flux, which is when the stomach contents move up into the esophagus. She was a, that she was a quadriplegic. She meant paraplegic or she wouldn't be able to move her arms. So quadriplegic is when you can't, basically like you're a vegetable, you can't move your arms or your legs. That she had muscular dystrophy, anemia, hyperventilation, asthma, she had allergies, mild mental retardation. So mentally she was stuck at age 7. And that she had leukemia since she was 5. She had incontinence, so she had to wear diapers, lung disease, and a heart murmur. That's a lot of shit to say that your child has. And what I, what I'm trying to understand is like how do you keep up with it? Like how do you keep in mind what you've told people that she has? Like, I don't even, I didn't even count how many things I did, it's just like 10. Like, you have to keep up with all of that. But whenever Gypsy would ask about her epilepsy, Didi would just say, oh you had a seizure last night, so that's why you can't remember anything. When Gypsy got her period, she said Didi wouldn't let her use pads or tampons. She just told her basically just use your diaper. That she would just change her diaper. Didi brought Gypsy to local hospitals over 100 times between 2005 and 2014 according to her medical records. So since 2001, Gypsy would go to Comic Con dressed up in cosplay. At the 2011 Vision Con, she met a 36 year old man named Dan who accidentally bumped into her. And he later found her secret Facebook and sent her a friend request. So Gypsy had, like basically Didi wouldn't let her go online or like have a Facebook or anything like that. So she had to do it in secret. So he sent her a friend request and she briefly told him what was going on at home. So he told her to pack a bag and she could stay with him in Arkansas. He thought that she was 15 but she ended up telling him the truth that she was actually 19. She left Didi a note saying that she was leaving because she was a woman and it was time for her to spread her wings and fly. So as Didi lay asleep, Gypsy went out the back door and she took Didi's pain pills and about like $1,000 from the safe. So she hitchhiked to his friend's house where he was staying. Didi woke up around like 4am and when she realized Gypsy wasn't in the bed next to her, of course she went around the house looking for her. So she found the note and instantly knew who Gypsy was with. She called around and spoke with his mutual friends and when she got there, she asked Gypsy for her pain pills and the money back. So Didi showed him, Dan, the fake birth certificate that had 1995 saying that she was a minor and that she was going to call the cops on him. So he definitely would have gone to jail because he was on parole. She asked Gypsy if they could talk outside on the porch. So of course Gypsy said, okay. So they went outside. Didi said, if you leave with me, I'll let you see him. But because Gypsy was solely dependent on her mother, she trusted a word and went back with her. When they got back to the house, Didi smashed Gypsy's laptop and her cell phone with a hammer and she said, if you ever sneak out again, your fingers are next. So for the next two weeks, she chained Gypsy up to the bed with handcuffs and had a dog leash on her that was connected to Didi so she could feel whenever Gypsy moved. After she was no longer chained, Didi put a voodoo hex on Gypsy. Now keep in mind they're from Louisiana. And Rod said that Didi was very much into like the dark stuff, like spells and witchcraft. And so Didi printed out a pic of Dan, a pic of Gypsy. She went to the store to get a mason jar and a cow tongue. So she put the stuff in the mason jar along with Gypsy's menstrual blood. That's disgusting. Then buried it in the backyard saying, you will never find love, you will never be happy. So Didi told Gypsy that she filed paperwork with a lawyer that she was incompetent. So she never went to the police for help because they would see said paperwork and not believe her because she was slow. Like she doesn't know what she's talking about. So Didi bought a gun that she would keep in a safe in her bedroom. So Gypsy said that she packed the bag one day and hid it under the couch. She said that she guesses Didi got suspicious and found it and asked her, you were going to run away again, weren't you? So Gypsy saw the gun on the table. She picked it up and she shot at Didi 10 times. Some of them hit her, but when she found out that it was a BB gun, she said that she was relieved. She didn't want to kill her mother. So when they went to a doctor, Didi lied about the incident and said that when they went to Walmart to get groceries and money ordered so that she could pay her mortgage and her electricity bill. A man came up to her while they were in the parking lot. It was around like nine o'clock PM and he asked her for her wallet. So she gave it to him, but he still shot her 10 times with the BB gun. She said that Gypsy had nightmares and separation anxiety ever since. So the same document said that Gypsy gets flown to Kansas City for her medical and surgical evaluations and treatments. And those take like a week each. So Gypsy had this 23 year old neighbor named Aaliyah Woodmancy. She called Gypsy her little sister and Gypsy called her big sister. So she was calling her little sister. Didn't even know how they were closer to the same age than she thought. She, either her or another neighbor, told her to go to an online dating site called ChristianDatingForFree.com. So after looking at a few profiles, one profile stood out. Nicholas Goodgeon from Big Bend, Wisconsin. Now, he already had a record for masturbating in McDonald's back in 2013. He also has a history of mental illness, which is reported as dissociative identity disorder. His mom later said that like in the interrogation room, that he has autism and Asperger's. So two weeks after they started talking online, they began dating and made it Facebook official. Gypsy said that his ex had contacted her and told her that he was violent, controlling, and abusive. But Gypsy didn't listen because she thought that the girl was just like a jaded ex. Like, well, she's jealous. She doesn't, whatever. She didn't listen. She took money from her mom's wallet. And when they went to Walmart, she asked Dee Dee if she could use the bathroom. And she went to the electronics department and got a phone. So she would contact Nick via Yahoo Messenger while Dee Dee was asleep. A year later, she told him that she could walk. And he said he wasn't surprised because he was psychic. So he already knew. Okie. In 2014, she confided in Aaliyah that she and Nick were going to get eloped. And they have started discussing future baby names. So Gypsy Rose had five Facebook pages. She said that each time she created a new page, Dee Dee would find it. So Emma Rose is the one that she would use to contact Aaliyah. So Gypsy and Nick would flirt online and they would send each other explicit pictures, sometimes involving BDSM. She said that that was more so Nick's thing than hers. Like, she wasn't into that. She didn't even know what it was before Nick came in the picture. And she only went along with it for him. So Nick had a violent personality. His name was Victor. And Victor is a 500-year-old vampire. So Gypsy said that she made up other personalities to match Nick's because he wanted his personalities to have girlfriends too. So Gypsy made up Ruby. Ruby had a red wig. She had another alter ego named Candy who had a rainbow wig. So Aaliyah thought that Gypsy was too young and that she was conversing with and being taken advantage of by a sexual predator. So she tried to talk her out of it. Gypsy paid for Nick to come to Springfield. So she had planned to act like they were complete strangers when she went to the movies with Dee Dee to see the live-action Cinderella. So during the movie, she told Dee Dee that she had to go to the bathroom. She and Nick went in to have sex but he couldn't get it up. So Dee Dee happened to come out shortly after they came out of the bathroom and she saw them by the concessions. So she asked, like, why are you still talking to this guy? And Gypsy told her that he just wanted to be her friend. And she asked her why she can't have any friends. Dee Dee took her into the bathroom and slapped her. So when he went back home to Wisconsin, they continued communicating online and started hatching a plan to kill Dee Dee. Because they said that that didn't work out. Dee Dee just, like, hated him. She thought that he was such a creep because he came along to a little girl movie. Like, it's Cinderella. Yeah, no grown man should be in a Cinderella movie. So they discussed different methods like poison, arson, and a gun. He said a gun would be too loud and it would alert the neighbors. She said she didn't have it in her to tell her mother. So she asked him if he could because that was the only way they could be together is with her mom out of the picture. So Nick told Gypsy that he wanted to rape Dee Dee with her sitting next to them on the bed. He also said that if they had a daughter, he would have to take her virginity when she turned 13. She said after that conversation, she dumped him. He messaged her a few days later and said that he was sorry and that it was Victor who said that. So the night before the murder, Gypsy and Dee Dee were watching a movie together on the couch. They did their nails and Gypsy told her that she loved her and gave her a hug. Dee Dee ironically asked, what's that for? I'm not dead yet. That's sad. Like, little did she know. So Nick came back to Springfield on June 10, 2015. It was the day of the murder. Gypsy bought his ticket again with money that she took from Dee Dee. So they were at a doctor's appointment. So Nick waited at a motel until they got back home. So he went to the house when Dee Dee went to sleep. Gypsy texted him saying that she left the gloves outside the front door and that she would give him the knife and duct tape when he got inside. She said that she stole the knife from Walmart. She went into the bathroom and covered her ears to try to not hear her mother scream. She said that she could still hear her screaming and saying, Gypsy, help me. She said she wanted to go in there and stop him, but she couldn't, like, get herself to get up. Nick stabbed Dee Dee 17 times as she slept on her stomach. And he came to the bathroom and told her to clean up the blood droplets that were on the floor. He told her that because she didn't let him rape Dee Dee, he had to rape her. They stole more than $4,000 in cash that Dee Dee had aside. Most of it was child support payments from Rod. They stayed at a motel for a few days trying to figure out what they were going to do next because Nick had a round trip ticket. But when they were going to Wisconsin to his house, there wasn't any room on the bus for Gypsy, too. So they mailed the knife to Nick's house. Then they took a bus there. So a few people saw them going to the Greyhound station and saw that Gypsy was walking and that she had on a blonde wig. On June 14, 2015, at 2.32 p.m., there was a Facebook post on their joint Facebook account, Deejit Blanchard, that said, That bitch is dead. After a few comments from other people curious as to, like, what happened, another comment said, I fucking slashed that fat pig and raped her sweet, innocent daughter. Her scream was so fucking loud. LOL. Gypsy later said that she was the one who made that post so that someone could go to the house and check on Dee Dee because she didn't want her, like, just laying there. So she posted the comment so they can know that the page wasn't hacked. So apparently there was hacking going on around that time. Nobody was answering the phone, nor the door, like when friends and neighbors were calling and going to the house. They saw the Facebook post, so they started worrying. A neighbor called the police, they saw Dee Dee's car in the driveway, and they were able to see through the window that Gypsy's wheelchair was there. The one that she, like, mainly used. So the police came, but they couldn't get in without a search warrant. So one of their neighbors, David Blanchard, no relation, asked if he could climb through the window that was partially open. He went in, he didn't see anything that was, like, out of place. So when police got the search warrant, they went in and they saw Dee Dee's body lying face down in her bed with multiple stab wounds to her back. So at this point, Gypsy was missing. So everybody was worrying because she didn't have her medications with her, she didn't have her feeding tube, her oxygen tank, and most importantly, she didn't have any of her wheelchairs. They were all in the house. So Kim Blanchard, who was David's wife, she set up a GoFundMe to pay for Dee Dee's funeral. So when the producers asked Laura and Claude if they were sad when Dee Dee died, Laura said she didn't believe it and that it took a few days for it to process because she just thought it was another one of Dee Dee's tricks. Bobby, Dee Dee's nephew, he asked, well, who'd she piss off now and what shit she got herself into? He knew that she would piss off somebody enough to that point and he imagined that it would be Gypsy. So keep in mind, like, their family knew that nothing was wrong with Gypsy. When they found out that Gypsy was fine and at her boyfriend's house, they thought she finally did it. So Aaliyah told the police about Gypsy's online boyfriend. So police asked Facebook to trace the IP address of the post that was made and Nick and Gypsy woke up to the police surrounding the house the next morning. While Keisha County police raided Nick's house, they surrendered and they were arrested for murder and felony armed criminal action. Their neighbors in Springfield at the time were relieved that she was found alive. So they were extradited back to Missouri and they were held on a million dollar bond. Green County Sheriff Jim Arnott said in a press conference, things are not always as they appear. Springfield and the world soon found out the truth that Gypsy was never sick and that she was always able to walk and that deity was controlling her to keep up with the facade. So he told people not to donate any more money to the GoFundMe and to the family until they figured out how deep the fraud went. So Gypsy pled guilty to second degree murder and she was sentenced to 10 years. Nick was found guilty of first degree murder and sentenced to life plus 25 years for armed criminal action. So when Didi was cremated, none of her siblings wanted her ashes. Her sister and her father said, flush that in the toilet. Do you know how evil you have to be that none of your family members want your ashes? Basically, they couldn't afford it for a whole funeral, for it to be buried. But still, they didn't even want her ashes. So Quad and Laura said that she got what she deserved and Gypsy got engaged to a man named Ken Urker, who was her penpal. So he wrote her a letter in 2018 after seeing the HBO movie Mommy Dead and Dearest, which came out in 2017. So that relationship lasted for like a year and a half. That was from 2019 to 2020. It was said that he broke up with her because he couldn't keep up with the fame that she has. Christy went to the parole hearing on December 9th, 2021, because Rod couldn't go due to work in Rhode Island. She got her tentative release date of December 28th, 2023. She married a special ed teacher named Ryan Anderson, who became her penpal in 2020. They got married in a prison ceremony on July 22nd, 2022. And after serving 8 others for 10 years, she was released on parole December 28th, 2023. So since January, she's done interviews with TV shows and news outlets like Good Morning America, CNN, and The View. On March 29th, she announced that she was separated from Ryan and that she was living with Rod and Christy. So she has said that she regrets having her mother killed. She said she was just sick and needed to be where I am. She doesn't know if she could go back in time, if she would tell her family that she isn't sick and that it was her mom making her sick, or if she would just go back to the planning with Nick and tell him, never mind, that she'll just go to the police instead. She said she wanted to reach out to Rod and Leah on multiple occasions, but she was too afraid of what DeeDee would do to her. So DeeDee's sister, Dorla, said that when it came out that she had Munchausen by proxy, she didn't know what it was. So when she found out, she remembered that that was like how Emma treated DeeDee. In the prison confession, she revealed to Ryan during a phone call while she was still in prison that she had a dream where she left Ryan for Ken. She confessed that she was still communicating with Ken three weeks before their wedding. Because Ryan asked her, when was the last time you spoke to him? She said three weeks ago. So that caused a big fight, but they were able to keep their relationship going. So during the filming, there was an issue with her parole terms. So her family had rented a house in Kansas City for like five days, and then they would head to Louisiana on January 1st, New Year's. She got a phone call from the parole office in Missouri, and they said that she had to go directly to Louisiana. She couldn't be in the state of Missouri. One day recently, Gypsy and Ryan got into a big argument when she threw out old food in the fridge. So basically she emptied out the fridge. He is a food hoarder like DeeDee was. So he got like irate. So she had to call her relatives to come pick her up because she locked herself in the bathroom, scared that Ryan was going to hurt her. So he was pounding on the door yelling, let me in, let me in. And she was scared that he was going to hit her. And he's huge. Like if you've seen a picture of him, like he's not only is he tall, but he's he's a big guy. He's hefty. So I'm sure she was like very afraid because he probably bought flashbacks of DeeDee abusing her. So when Dawn hit, she drove about three and a half hours from Lake Charles to Rod and Christie's house and cut off. Ryan became more insecure and controlling to a point of no return. So in February, when they were visiting Gypsy's family, they had a fight when Gypsy wanted to spend some alone time with her father. Bobby said it wasn't a genuine relationship because he wrote her letter on a dare. So Ryan admittedly said that he made a deal with someone that that person would write a letter to Tiger King and he would write to Gypsy Rose Blanchard. So Ryan would kiss Gypsy a lot, like just to have it on camera. In a people interview, Gypsy said her concern was that she likes to deal with an argument immediately while Ryan is the opposite. He likes to prosper on things and then come back later and talk it out. Gypsy says she's taking time to find herself and since her separation from Ryan, she's been spending time with her ex-fiance, Ken, including getting matching tattoos of Huskies. He has a Husky and she loves him and she wants one. Ryan believes that Ken played a very integral part in their separation. He called Christie back in January to clear up why he broke up with Gypsy. He said that he ended it because he wanted to, quote, give her the space to grow. He stressed that he wasn't trying to get back with her and he wasn't trying to come in between their marriage. Insert Candy Burris GIF. The lies, the lies. I don't believe that shit because why would you hit up your ex's stepmother, like just to let her know why y'all actually broke up? Well, you don't give a fuck. Like, what? What? Anyway, so, on April 5th, she had a rhinoplasty which reportedly costed her $5,000 to make her nose smaller. She filed for divorce three days later on April 8th and she has a restraining order against Ryan. She was last seen on April 19th without the bandages on her nose. Producers for her upcoming Lifetime documentary called Gypsy Rose Life After Lockup, which is set to premiere on June 3rd. Producers filmed basically like a wrap up of scenes with Ryan because he will no longer be on the show since they're getting a divorce. So, which, that's what the hell they need to do because this series is about her, not the marriage. It's her life being on the outside. So, this is the end of the episode. I truly feel for her. Like, nobody should ever have to go through that, especially at the hands of their parent who's supposed to be their caregiver. Like, the person who is supposed to protect them, not make them sick. But, I mean, yeah, I don't know. I truly feel for her. Bye!
