The plan is needed because there is minimal parental engagement at a Title I school in downtown Las Vegas. The school wants to increase family attendance at school events from 20-30% to 70-80% for the 23-24 school year. This is the first event of many planned for the year. Why this plan is needed? Well, as a Title I school near downtown Las Vegas, the amount of parental engagement is minimal. We know that students gain in academia and society is due to the engagement of families in their child's education. In general, at Walter Brackenstein Academy, we have about a 20 to 30 percent family attendance rate at school events and our aim for the 23-24 school year is 70 to 80 percent family engagement slash attendance at all school events. This is the first event and many, many more will follow throughout the school year.
