Based on a non-fiction book by John Krakauer, Into The Wild follows Chris, a young man who decides to abandon a life of privilege after college and embarks on a solitary quest for freedom and authenticity so he begins to make his journey into the wild. I draw the life of a candlestick. The film depicts his rejection of social norms and expectations especially related to family relationships. We have a special guest joining us today, and that is Sean Penn. Thanks for having me, Jack, on this episode today. The story, Into The Wild, focuses on Chris's frustration with the conventional notion of the perfect family. He sees the flaws and vanity in his parents' relationship and the materialistic world they live in. Chris believes that true happiness lies in escaping the constructed reality and finding your own way, free from the constraints of society. The film's techniques that show this are panning shots of Chris on the bus and the wild in the background, facial language showing the viewers what he is expressing, which is him, happy living in the wild. Thanks for that, Sean Penn. Known for his artistic talents, Sean Penn brings the candlestick journey to life beautifully on screen. Penn's rendition captures the essence of a candlestick's rebellion against social structure, invoking wonders and yearning for simple existence. The breathtaking cinematography takes us into the vast landscape of the American West and reflects Chris's quest for inner peace and connection with nature. This film confronts us with the consequences of rejecting social structures. Along his journey, Chris McCandless meets a variety of characters and learns valuable lessons about the importance of relationships rather than shared experiences. He witnesses the evolution of his view of family and realizes that true kinship goes beyond blood ties and lies in ties to others. The variety of characters Chris McCandless meets is a woman called Jan Burrows. Chris meets her when she gives him a ride in Arizona. Later, Chris shows up at Jan's trailer in the Irritant Community, The Slums, where she lives with her boyfriend Bob. Christopher lives with the couple and helps Jan with the book-selling business. Chris also makes a strong relationship between him and Franz. Franz teaches McCandless leatherwork, resulting in them making a belt detailing his travels. After two months with Franz, McCandless decides to leave for Alaska. Franz gives McCandless his old camping and travel gear along with an offer to adopt him as his grandchild. Franz after being rejected by him gets really sad and never sees Chris again. That was an example of a shared experience. That's all for tonight's episode of Beyond the Wild.
